pcgamer wrote a new post, Amazon’s Fallout 76 preorder page originally indicated a July release date, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
Fallout 76 doesn’t have a release date yet—that will presumably be revealed at E3—but it could arrive sooner than anyone expects. The Amazon preorder page currently lists the launch date as December 31, 2019, but as Massively Overpowered observed, when it first went up it carried a “get it by” date of July 31 2018. E3 to end-of-July is a much tighter window, but Fallout Shelter was announced and released the same day in 2015, so it could happen. (That’s a bit of a cheat, as Fallout Shelter is a

pcgamer wrote a new post, The Assassin’s Creed games ranked from worst to best, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is coming down the pipe, and it feels like an Assassin’s Creed game will be released almost every year for the rest of all time. For more hot takes on Assassin’s Creed, we ranked all of the starring assassins from the series, including dreamboat Ezio Auditore. Assassin’s CreedSamuel Roberts, editor in chief: There are so many Assassin’s Creed games that iterate upon the barebones original that I would never recommend anyone playing it under any circumstances. The lights flicker and everyone catches their breath, waiting for the server’s computerised voice to confirm maintenance has been successful. Glen Minor, Digital ExtremesThat’s the scene I imagine when a game goes into maintenance. A Facebook server farm, via Mark ZuckerbergDigital Eclipse is also able to do live updates with most of Warframe’s maintenance. Naturally, QA will have already tested all of a game’s new features prior to release, so the period before maintenance is usually more fever

pcgamer wrote a new post, Get Xenonauts free in GOG’s Summer Gaming Sale, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
GOG’s Summer Gaming Sale—or #SummerGaming Sale as it’s stylised on-site—is live now through June 18. Spending £3.59/$5 or more in GOG’s Summer Sale also nets you a free copy of Failbetter’s narrative adventure Sunless Sea, while spending £14.19/$20 unlocks Rime too. If Xenonauts were receiving a proper award, it would be X-Com of the Year. That’s a good thing, to be clear—or, at least, a thing that I’m happy has happened. Check out GOG’s Summer Sale in full in this direction.

pcgamer wrote a new post, Rockshot looks a lot like a free-to-play Devil’s Third Online spiritual successor, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
Rockshot is a free-to-play, third-person action game that’s out today in Early Access. It’s developed by Soleil—a subsidiary of Valhalla Game Studios, the team responsible for the 2015, Tomonobu Itagaki-directed Devil’s Third. Rockshot looks a lot like that game’s ill-fated online component. Have a gander:According to its Steam page blurb, Rockshot plans to live in Early Access for the next six months. More information on Rockshot can be found on its official site.

pcgamer wrote a new post, Far Cry 5: Hours of Darkness DLC focuses on stealthy survival in the Vietnam War, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
That’s good advice for lots of shooters, particularly in the Far Cry series, and the latest example is Far Cry 5’s first DLC add-on, Hours of Darkness. Much as I enjoyed the Montana of Far Cry 5, it’s nice to have a change of scenery, and the jungles of Vietnam are definitely a change from the woods and creeks of Northwestern US. You can even add a few to your roster to act as guns for hire, as in Far Cry 5’s main campaign. With the exception of jets noisily napalming the shit out of your enemie

pcgamer wrote a new post, Asus’ new ROG Strix laptops deliver a thinner bezel, 144Hz IPS screen and improved cooling, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
Asus brought a pair of new Strix laptops to Computex 2018, outfitted with some new Coffee Lake CPUs and swanky new screens. The 2018 Strix fits a 15.6-inch screen into a body that’s almost an inch narrower than last year’s thanks to a much narrower bezel. There are two versions of the Strix to choose from: the Hero II and the Scar II, which Asus is targeting at MOBA players and FPS players, respectively. There are some minor aesthetic differences between the Hero II and Scar II. The Hero II has

pcgamer wrote a new post, Asus takes aim at mobile gamers (and Razer) with a feature-packed gaming smartphone, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
Given the complete failure of older gaming phones, I wasn’t optimistic. What would a gaming phone really offer them? After getting my hands on the phone, though, I have to hand it to Asus: the ROG smartphone says it’s all about gaming, and it goes for it. Next to the Razer phone, the ROG phone is more like The Homer . I don’t know if there are enough people out there who want a gaming-focused smartphone to make the ROG phone a success.

We’ve been hearing murmurs of coming 802.11ax gear since last fall. At Computex today, Asus announced new router gear that supports the current iteration of 802.11ax, which is a draft version expected to be finalized next year. While the current 802.11ac standard tops out at 1.3 Gbps, this next generation of wireless, 802.11ax, is promising a significant jump of throughput to 3.5 Gbps. Asus is also upgrading the wired port from the current 1 Gig Ethernet to 2.5 Gbps port for a faster wired conne

Now, after a period of uncertainty, CI Games has confirmed a sequel to the game is still happening, only it’s now in development by a New York-based studio called Defiant (no, not the same studio who made Hand of Fate 2). The first Lords of the Fallen game was also a joint production: between CI Games and Deck13. As for CI Games, Lords of the Fallen 2 was announced almost immediately after the first released in 2014. pcgamer wrote a new post, This FTL-inspired BattleTech mod boils the campaign down to 8 hours, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
A new BattleTech mod out this week condenses the mech strategy game’s lengthy campaign down to a bite-size maximum of eight hours by giving you a 120-day time limit to build up your fleet and reach the campaign finale. It’s inspired by FTL, which means the star map that you play on will be randomised each time, and will be a lot smaller than the base game’s map. To help speed up progress, you’ll get more salvage at the end of missions, and you’re more likely to find rare weapons. You’ll also sta

You’ve probably seen the music video for Childish Gambino’s This is America doing the rounds, or at least some screenshots of it. Fortnite players certainly have, and a particularly creative bunch at YouTube channel WiziBlimp have got together to recreate it in Epic’s Battle Royale shooter using the replay system. Given the constraints they’re working with, they’ve done a remarkable job. I played the two videos side-by-side at the same time, and they’ve nailed the camera swivels and pans from th
