pcgamer wrote a new post, Trying to save lives in Flashing Lights, the wonky emergency services sim, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
It’s my first day as a police officer in Flashing Lights, and I’ve just received my first call. “Aggressive driver in red vehicle seen in area, locate and stop,” the dispatcher says. My second call tasks me with catching another red car, which I do, but with less enthusiasm. “Aggressive driver in red vehicle…” I don’t read the rest. The red cars have won.

Far Cry 5’s Hours of Darkness DLC focuses on stealthy survival in the Vietnam War, said Chris earlier this week. Rather than the perk unlock system of Far Cry 5, you’ve already got four perks at the start of the DLC, but you need to make stealth kills to activate them. Make four stealth kills in a row, and you’ll have all four perks active. If you’re detected by enemies you’ll instantly lose those perks until you’ve made four more stealth kills to regain them all. Look, see:Check out Chris’ earl

pcgamer wrote a new post, Let the core wars begin: AMD one-ups Intel with 32-core Ryzen Threadripper CPU, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
At AMD’s Computex press conference on Wednesday, the company shared the first details on what’s coming with Ryzen’s second generation Threadripper CPU. Threadripper is the big daddy of AMD’s new CPU line: it’s not a gaming CPU, but it’s a multithreaded, multicore monster. AMD is leaning into some “heavy metal” imagery to market Threadripper, and the CPU looks like it’ll earn it. Threadripper 2 will run on a 12nm Zen+ architecture and have the new features of Ryzen second gen. AMD demonstrated 24

pcgamer wrote a new post, Roccat’s new Vulcan keyboard is striking, with short keycaps and exposed switches, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
I’ve never seen a keyboard that looks like the Roccat Vulcan. A recent trend in mechanical keyboard design has been cutting back on the housing for a bare key look, like the Blackwidow Chroma X , but Roccat’s designers did something dramatic with the Vulcan. Roccat’s new switch has a slightly higher actuation point than a Cherry Brown, so it’s a bit faster, but still feels pretty similar. That’s a lot of detail to get to the point that it feels fantastic to type on, and I use a Cherry Brown keyb

pcgamer wrote a new post, Can the Forsaken expansion turn around Destiny 2’s fortunes on PC?, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
I’m a 41-year old man, so I don’t really get ‘hype’ about anything, but friends… I’m close. James: I don’t know where bows fit in Destiny’s arsenal, or how they make sense thematically. Maybe not too much, but I’m going to need more convincing that the changes in Forsaken justify the price. If Destiny 2’s end game is a puddle, the Osiris patrol area is a fuckin’ Dixie cup. We also don’t know how the ammo economy will work if you’re running, say, the three-shotgun meme loadout referenced in the r

Ubisoft confirmed today that Rainbow Six Siege’s next expansion, Operation Para Bellum, will launch this Thursday, June 7 (or June 8 if you’re in Australia). In addition to the two new operators and map, there will be a lot of quality-of-life tweaks to the game itself. In an update today, Ubisoft presented six reasons for the removal. It’s worth presenting them in full here:Tower’s overall balance is not where we want it to be for a Ranked playlist. For the full list of tweaks, additions and upd

In a new developer update, game director Jeff Kaplan outlined a huge patch coming to Overawtch soon. In addition to the extensive Symmetra rework, a number of social features are coming to the game. The next is an endorsement system that will let players recognize players for sportsmanship, shotcalling, and being a good teammate. “The defenders’ spawn room had a problem with its main exit that allowed defenders to quickly duck back inside and regain health while attackers shot at them without do

Overwatch’s long-awaited Symmetra rework is now playable on the Overwatch PTR. This change, in turn, allows the weapon to deal significantly more damage and have increased range. The projectile speed has also significantly increased, making it more reliable to use the weapon at longer ranges. However, the new Teleporter works significantly differently than the original one, and it will be used in very different ways. “Whenever we come out with a new hero or rework abilities, it can take some tim

In order to bring Evolve to a publisher, Turtle Rock needed a unique hook to lead with, so they hedged their bets on 4v1 multiplayer, which Colville says they “100% believed in.” “A friend of mine said very early, and I think he was right, ‘The reason it works is because we’re all role-playing playing Evolve,'” Colville said. “It causes more problems than we ever imagined, and we didn’t really have a team to make a competitive shooter. It didn’t help that Evolve, a game “that only really works i

The Humble Daedalic Bundle 2018 features a very nice selection of games from (surprise) Daedalic Entertainment, and what’s actually a little surprising is that they’re not all point-and-click adventures. (Shadow Tactics is pretty good too.) There’s also a Warframe in the bundle for the Foxglive Syandana cosmetic item, 200,000 credits, and three-day Affinity and Resource boosters. Extreme overclocking is wild enough as it is, with liquid nitrogen the go-to cooling source for chasing crazy-high clockspeeds and setting benchmark records. Even more wild, however, is a semi-closed loop that EVGA’s engineers and a couple of professional overclockers developed. In a video posted to YouTube, well-known overclockers Vince ‘KINGPIN’ Lucido and Illya ‘TiN” Tsemenko talk about designing the contraption. What they developed is a semi-closed loop that is somewhat similar to a self-con
