pcgamer wrote a new post, Unavowed is a retro-adventure about demonic possession and what comes after, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
More than two years after revealing it to the world, old-time adventure outfit Wadjet Eye Games has announced that its latest project, Unavowed, will be out on August 8. The new game is a supernatural thriller about a victim of demonic possession, freed after committing numerous violent crimes while under the fiend’s control. It may sound a little hackneyed but Wadjet Eye adventures are generally sharply written and unafraid to take risks. It also supports double the visual resolution of any pre

pcgamer wrote a new post, World of Warcraft invites lapsed players back with a ‘Welcome Back Weekend’, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
You may have thought you were out, but World of Warcraft is ready to pull you back in with a Welcome Back Weekend. That’s a catchy way of saying that lapsed players can jump back into the Azeroth action with full access and accounts upgraded to Warlords of Draenor or, if it’s newer, your most recently-purchased expansion. The WoWWBW is good until June 24, and you can play as much as you want, to as high a level as you want. (The free World of Warcraft Starter Edition caps players at level 20—tha

pcgamer wrote a new post, Digital adaptations of Viticulture and Charterstone board games in the works, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
In a lengthy post earlier this month about Scythe: Digital Edition and the realities of digital game development, designer-owner Jamey Stegmaier of Stonemaier Games casually announced that the company was actively working towards digital adaptations of popular games Viticulture and Charterstone. “I’m excited about Scythe Digital,” posted Stegmaier, “just as I’m eager to move forward with Viticulture Digital. Charterstone Digital is also in the works.” Viticulture , a 2013 board game that has bec

pcgamer wrote a new post, This VR fishing game is a bit buggy but still wonderfully relaxing, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
We recently dove in to create a list of the best fishing experiences on PC—not just looking at fishing sims but at any game that features fishing as an activity, like Stardew Valley and Far Cry 5. This was prior to Catch & Release, a VR fishing game, arrived on Steam this month. While it’s a bit buggy, it’s also one of the most enjoyable fishing games I’ve played. When you’re not reeling in a fish or wrestling with teleporting radios and sandwiches, Catch & Release is a nice and relaxing fishing

pcgamer wrote a new post, Friday the 13th gets permanently axed, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
Friday the 13th was actually quite a bit of fun when it came out last year—with the right group of players, at least—and showed real potential for future improvements, too. Sadly, publisher Gun Media has now confirmed that potential will never be realized, as new content development has been permanently ended. “I wanted to address a few questions that I’ve had sent to me personally, as well as questions we’ve received through the official F13 channels. ‘,” Gun Media founder and president Wes Kel

pcgamer wrote a new post, The Legend of Bum-bo is a strange dungeon crawling puzzler, but it’s still an Edmund McMillen game, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
The upcoming project from The Binding Of Isaac co-creator Edmund McMillen might be simultaneously his strangest and most familiar game to date (poo and snot, after all, are McMillen hallmarks). For Isaac diehards, the battle system is going to be the point of contention. As I’m questioning the flow of battle, Edmund laughingly tells me the whole thing is probably just a sign he’s playing too much Magic: The Gathering. At the end of the demonstration, Edmund is defeated by the first boss, a giant

pcgamer wrote a new post, Lust for Darkness is cheap survival horror that treats genitals like jump scares (NSFW), on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
Horror isn’t just a slideshow of interdimensional vagina doorways and anthropomorphized dick statues, especially if they’re preceded by a fairly tasteful, pleasant-looking orgy (which is how Lust for Darkness attempts to set the mood). I’m well beyond dick statuary, whereas Lust for Darkness is very much stuck in perpetual, snickering adolescence. I highly doubt the elder gods, beings that our puny human minds can’t comprehend, are obsessed with our fleshy mortal sex bits. Again, the bulk of the

pcgamer wrote a new post, Ni No Kuni 2 difficulty update fixes its biggest problem, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is still one of my favorite games of 2018. The only thing I didn’t really like about it was how easy it is, so I’m extremely pleased to see its latest update add some advanced difficulty modes. The aptly titled “Difficulty Patch” is out now and adds a hard mode and an expert mode above the default normal mode. From the looks of the patch video, hard mode decreases the damage you deal and increases the damage you take by around 30 percent. Expert mode looks to be ar

pcgamer wrote a new post, Bethesda sues Warner for ripping off Fallout Shelter in its Westworld game, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
Both games were developed by Behaviour Interactive, and Bethesda claims that Warner hired Behaviour to develop the Westworld game specifically because it had made Fallout Shelter. The lawsuit examines the many similarities between Westworld and Fallout Shelter in detail, but what makes the case seem particularly egregious is Bethesda’s allegation that Westworld contains the same bugs as Fallout Shelter did when it was launched. “The identical problem appeared in initial versions of Fallout Shelt

According to the leak, the 32-core Threadripper chip will have a 3GHz base clock, 3.4GHz all-core boost clock, and 4GHz Precision boost clock. In the meantime, here’s the teaser video:

pcgamer wrote a new post, Life is Strange 2 will land in September, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
Square Enix announced today that episode 1 of Life is Strange 2, the sequel to the five-part adventure that, like life itself, is messy and uneven but still kind of brilliant, will be out on September 27. Almost nothing is known about the new game, including where (and when) it’s set and who will be in it. The Life is Strange website still features the Deck Nine-developed Before the Storm prequel, and there’s no Life is Strange 2 listing as yet on Steam. Square Enix did confirm that the PC relea

pcgamer wrote a new post, The floor is literally lava in the beta of Klei’s energetic first-person platformer, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
In some respects you’ve already played Klei Entertainment’s new first-person parkour platformer. As a kid in Hot Lava, which is now in open beta (it’ll enter Early Access later) you’re inspired by a superhero cartoon you see on TV. Watching the heroes battle a dastardly lava boss captures your imagination, and that makes just getting upstairs and into bed a daring adventure. The carpet turns to lava and you parkour off furniture and walls and swing from the chandelier. Again, it’s in beta, but a

The bundle costs $899.99 and is built around EVGA’s GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 Elite Gaming graphics card (in red). FIFA may hold the official World Cup 2018 license, but that hasn’t stopped rival PES getting in on the action. As reported by Eurogamer, the player-made PTE patch introduces a World Cup-themed menu to PES 2018, alongside scoreboards, new logos, country flags, an official intro video and authentic advertising and stadium boards. Despite losing its acclaimed Champions League license this season, we learned last month that PES 2019 will ship with seven new domestic leagues. I guess we’ll find out e

Here’s what we want from The Elder Scrolls 6. Likewise conversations could be much more engaging than they have been in previous Fallout and Elder Scrolls games. Some memorable NPCsIt might be easier to forgive stiff NPC performances if most of the people you met in The Elder Scrolls games weren’t quite so boring. We always want to establish a home (or several) in Elder Scrolls games, so establishing an entire town feels like a logical extension. We’ve seen modders transpose old Elder Scrolls ga

The Resident Evil 2 remake will include Tofu, Hunk and that big bastard alligator. That’s the best headline I’ve been allowed to publish in two years of news writing at PC Gamer, which also makes me wonder: can my desktop handle a modernised slant on that hulking crocodilian? Ahead of its January 25, 2019 due date, the Resident Evil 2 remake now has a Steam page—within which you’ll find its minimum and recommended PC system requirements. Capcom has since launched a further five minutes of gamepl

VG24/7 reports that an anonymous Rockstar employee’s LinkedIn profile momentarily listed PC alongside PS4 and Xbox One as platforms RDR 2 is being developed on. After some digging, we tracked down the account ourselves—but it appears mention of PC has since been removed. Here’s a clipping of VG24/7’s screen, followed by our own:This is far from official confirmation, of course, but it’s food for thought, and almost all Rockstar Games thus far have ended up on PC. pcgamer wrote a new post, Why Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls 6 at E3, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
One of the biggest “wow” moments at this year’s E3 came at the tail end of the Bethesda press event, when it finally, officially confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 is in development. We don’t even know which region of Tamriel it will be set in (though we’ve been speculating a bit). Hines said Bethesda was expecting that some gamers would “freak out a little bit” when they learned that Bethesda’s next big game, Fallout 76, is an online experience. We are going to do a game that’s just single-play
