  • The game he’s enthusing over is his latest title, Wildlands, coming from Osprey games this winter. That’s a crowded genre, but Wallace has employed his considerable ingenuity and design experience to ensure it stands out. Wallace is one of the most prolific board game designers working today. Wildlands is no exception, and Wallace has plans for that, adding back some concepts that he stripped out during development. I’m not a fan of board game ports as I think they miss the point in what a compu

  • Once upon a time, it was Lord of the Rings games that EA was disappointing us with, not Star Wars. If any of EA’s LotR games were going to get a fan remake, better that it’s The Battle for Middle-Earth and not Conquest. That’s exactly what’s happening thanks to The Battle for Middle-Earth: Reforged. Beyond looking a lot flashier than its progenitor, Reforged also boasts more realistic physics, destructible terrain, 4K support and a free building system à la The Battle for Middle-Earth 2. When th

  • Kursk, the submarine-bound adventure game inspired by 2000 disaster that claimed the lives of 118 Russian sailors, is still a bit of a mystery, touting itself as a ‘documentary’ while keeping exactly how it documents a disaster with no survivors a secret. We’ll find out soon enough, however, as it’s coming to Steam in October, developer Jujubee announced on Saturday. On August 12, 2000, two explosions and a delayed rescue operation led to the sinking of the Oscar-class sub, Kursk, in the Barents

War for the Overworld is a dungeon management game that evokes the likes of Dungeon Keeper—the developers call it a cross between an RTS and a god game. • I’ll eat my underpants if it’s real, but an in-game message in GTA Online has been teasing the arrival of Grand Theft Auto 6, absent any other fanfare. The message purports to come from Rockstar and it’s been reported by multiple people on different platforms, accompanied by screenshots. Marketing stunts and stealth announcements like this aren’t unheard of, so that Rockstar would announce GTA 6 in this unconventional way isn’t entirely unbelievable. GamesRadar also points out that only the plat

  • Over the weekend, disaster struck in Fortnite as a rocket created a crack in reality. Since the initial attack on the sky, and presumably existence itself, the fracture has expanded. Other tears have appeared on the map, too, and yes, they’re also getting bigger. A third anomaly has appeared at the motel, and there’s bad news for fans of motel signage: the crack is swallowing it up. Below, check out the rocket launch from the weekend, as taken by our friends at GamesRadar:

  • This wink to the audience is presented with a far lighter touch in Fallout than I initially remembered. In a single Fallout quest, you can find cavalier dismissals of others and tender, human moments side by side. Free reinEven revisited, the freedom you’re offered in Fallout is impressive (and at times overwhelming) from the character creation screen onwards. The original Fallout blends free exploration with turn-based combat, the latter limiting actions and forcing careful, calculated thought.

  • Inspired by the likes of Danganronpa, Minotaur is an unusual visual novel-style adventure game set in a magical sci-fi world where robot wizards rub shoulders with cyborg penguins. It’s due out in early access this year, but there’s already a demo you can sink your teeth into. Out of the nine trapped characters, five of them will be playable, unfurling the point-and-click mystery from different perspectives. During Early Access, Minotaur will be getting timed sequences, boss fights, multiple cho

This week it announced its next project, a surreal point-and-click adventure set inside a child’s imagination. There will be hidden object sections, but it sounds more interactive than Artifex Mundi’s previous games, with point-and-click puzzles and minigames scattered throughout its five lands. • Lumines Remastered is the same block-matching musical puzzle game you know and love but with flashier visuals, support for resolutions up to 4K, and a new game mode. The new game mode, called Shuffle, does what you’d expect: it takes you through all the levels you’ve unlocked so far at random. You’ll unlock new levels by playing the game’s classic Challenge mode, and if you finish that then you’ll be able to play Endless mode. • It’s also making big changes to PvP, including a rework of talents, a new War Mode and a bounty hunter system, all of which Blizzard detailed in a blog post this week. In Battle for Azeroth, PvP talents will simply become available as you level up. In Battle For Azeroth, you’ll be able to pick whatever talents you like from a large pool. War Mode is Blizzard’s attempt to make PvP more open. Some War Mode features will be specific to the new zones added in Battle for Azeroth.

You’ll be able to sell any ores you dig up at new mining kiosks found at GrimHex, Levski, and Port Olisar. The update also added a new group play feature, allowing you to create a party that can all share each other’s ships. AR markers will appear for all party members, and you’ll find a party chat section on the contact app of the MobiGlas. As well as the mining kiosks, the update debuts other shopping ki

  • Yesterday, Fortnite fans piled into the game to watch its famous rocket blast off and crack open the sky. In total, Elemental_Ray secured 48 kills in one go: a new single-round record for a solo player in Fortnite. You can watch the chaos unfold in the video below (the rocket launch begins at 3:50). I suppose the players that missed most of the rocket launch because of Ray’s antics can take heart in the fact that they’re now part of Fortnite history. And they can console themselves by watching J

The medical charity provides healthcare for people that need it most around the world, including those affected by conflict and natural disasters. • Left 4 Dead and Evolve developer Turtle Rock Studios is working on an unannounced AAA game in a “globally-known franchise”, job listings on its website have revealed. Given the studio’s past experience, a multiplayer shooter wouldn’t be a surprise. In 2016, the developer said it was working on a dark fantasy co-op FPS—a “new franchise set in an all new universe”. It hasn’t said much about that game since, so it’s hard to say how, or if, this new FPS will be related. What would you like to see Tu
