pcgamer wrote a new post, Fortnite dance appears at World Cup 2018 final, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
France won the nation’s second World Cup yesterday, beating Croatia 4-2 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. Known in-game as ‘Take the L’, the emote entered Battle Royale as a Tier 31 reward of the third season’s Battle Pass. Griezmann might have chosen a less inflammatory Fortnite emote, mind you. But, hey, he was in the process of bringing home his country’s first World Cup in 20 years. With a similar time frame in mind (albeit the last time Scotland qualified for an international tournament),

Nightdive Studios has shared a handful of System Shock remake screenshots, some concept artwork and assets, and details on its upcoming ‘Adventure Alpha’. As explained in this Kickstarer backer update, the game’s Adventure Alpha is its September milestone, and will be “reminiscent” of the original with its difficulty set to zero. Nightdive says it’s aiming to have everything on that wrapped up by September—whose original textures look something like this:”Keep in mind these are the original text

pcgamer wrote a new post, Fallout: Atlanta mod brings quests, NPCs, and a new casino to the post-apocalypse, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Eight years since release, a host of neat player-made mods have kept Fallout: New Vegas players flocking back to the Mojave Wasteland. To this end, Fallout: Atlanta is a work-in-progress project that brings The Big Peach, the Hollywood of the South, or, as Usher calls it, A-Town to the post-apocalypse. It’s been in the works since 2016, and has now launched its Alpha Update 0.25—marking the end of a short hiatus. At present, Fallout: Atlanta comes with new NPCs, new dialogue, new quests, new ven

pcgamer wrote a new post, Sekiro resurrection mechanic allows for deadlier combat than Dark Souls, says Miyazaki, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Sekiro, From Software’s next game, subverts nearly everything we’ve come to expect from Dark Souls, said Steven after a hands-off demo at E3. One major change is its resurrection mechanic, which lets players revive themselves immediately without returning to a checkpoint. And despite how it might sound, game director Hidetaka Miyazaki says this can make Sekiro harder than Souls, not easier. “There are three ways death influences Sekiro,” Miyazaki tells the PS Blog. “There’s one thing I’d like to

pcgamer wrote a new post, Game remakes shouldn’t be afraid to change the classics, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
We’ve reached the next stage of that with Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake. Below, I’ve collected my thoughts on the factors that face developers in remaking games now, touching upon projects like Pathologic 2, the System Shock remake and Resident Evil 2. You couldn’t really do that style of game now—by Resident Evil 0 on GameCube in 2002, critics were burning out on this formula, and it’s ultimately why Resident Evil 4’s series revamp happened. That doesn’t mean that interpretation would’ve been

Bayu Arafat loves Metal Gear Solid. “When I was in junior high school, I fell in love with the first Metal Gear Solid,” he tells me. Bayu is also proud of his collection of every Metal Gear Solid game, all of which are signed by Kojima. “Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is my favourite Hideo Kojima game,” he says. “But I think Death Stranding will surpass Metal Gear!”

pcgamer wrote a new post, The best Hurk lines from Far Cry 5: Lost on Mars, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Hurk Drubman fans take note: the lore and history of Hurk, already quite extensive from previous Far Cry games, is expanded upon greatly in Far Cry 5’s add-on Lost on Mars (my review here). If you manage a fan page or wiki about Hurk Drubman Jr., your fingers are going to be sore from all the updating you’re about to do. The man is an open book. Maybe it’s not the fanciest book, but it’s an extremely honest and forthcoming one. Long live Hurk.

An add-on for Far Cry 5 where you fight giant bugs on Mars with your pal Hurk. Unfortunately, Lost on Mars, the second add-on for Far Cry 5, doesn’t support much else. Dope floatsWhile Nick doesn’t have access to his plane, that doesn’t mean he can’t fly. After Far Cry 5 replaced towers with its far more enjoyable bunker stash puzzles, I’d hoped we’d moved on from this tower business. pcgamer wrote a new post, Seed, Klang’s ambitious EVE-like MMO, teases scale of interconnected world, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Seed is a hugely ambitious in-development MMO that echoes EVE Online, Rimworld and The Sims. Its hugely ambitious, and its latest trailer teases the scale of its interconnected world. When I spoke to Klang Games co-founder Mundi Vondi about Seed last year, we discussed how these interconnected characters will help reduce grind. A lot of grind gets solved with this, so they basically work autonomously. We’re basically grouping together all these players and we can basically throw loads and loads

(Image: © Flickr via Jason Howie)Newegg is having a big sale today and tomorrow, obviously coinciding with Amazon Prime Day. And while only a minuscule fraction of the 50,000-plus things on sale over at Amazon are relevant to PC gamers, Newegg’s inventory has a good bit of solid deals. The full “Fantastech” sale starts at 12:00 PDT, but pre-sale deals are already starting to unlock, and we’ll be updating this post throughout the day as more deals come online. Here’s the best stuff we’ve found so

pcgamer wrote a new post, MoonQuest hits Early Access after seven years in development, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Procedurally generated Terraria-like MoonQuest has launched in Steam Early Access, after a whopping seven years in development. The game looks like familiar survival and crafting fare set in a bizarre alien world. After MoonQuest’s launch, Porter published an article on medium in which he charted the reasons for MoonQuest’s protracted gestation period. You will need to build a decent amount of technology to support that. A couple of years later you realise (from a game design perspective) that,

In anticipation of its launch next month, Compulsion Games has released a lengthy new trailer for We Happy Few, which provides more details on its newly designed structure. Last up is Ollie Starkey, a Scottish former soldier reminiscent of Groundskeeper Willie having a particularly bad day. The three characters are clearly built around different play-styles, with Ollie favouring aggression and Sally emphasising stealth, while Arthur sits somewhere in between. The second half of the video demonst

There’s even GTFO lurking in the shadows of Q4, quietly hoping to be the Aliens game that Colonial Marines certainly wasn’t. Right now though, there’s Earthfall, a high-intensity co-op shooter which switches out shambling zombies for scuttling aliens. There’s a launch trailer below which, frankly, doesn’t do the best job of selling the game. But if you’re up for some more cooperative gunplay, you can pick up Earthfall right now on Steam for £24. Developers Holospark also have plans to support th

An enterprising soul has designed a calculator from rollercoasters using Rollercoaster Tycoon 2’s creative toolset. The video shows off three calculations performed by the gigantic coaster, multiplying 2 and 8, multiplying 7 and 7, and adding 1 to 1. For each calculation, the track must be set up to send the two trains toward the correct input numbers. In a post on Imgur, Vos explained in detail how the calculator works when set up to multiply 3 and 6. The blue and purple tracks are for train 1

New information has emerged detailing Visceral Games’ aborted plans for what would have been Dead Space 4. Speaking to Eurogamer, former Dead Space creative director Ben Wanat revealed Dead Space 4 would have placed greater emphasis on exploration and scavenging resources for survival, blending the previous games’ tightly scripted action with larger, more open areas that the player could explore freely. Dead Space 4 would have expanded upon the “Lost Flotilla” chapter of Dead Space 3, in which I

After four years of development, the fan-made HD update to Resident Evil 4 is now available to download. Although Capcom released its own HD Remaster in 2014, it wasn’t the complete overhaul fans had hoped for. Specifically, many of the game’s textures were left in their vanilla state. The HD Project mod aims to be the overhaul that Capcom’s version wasn’t, and its creators have gone to remarkable lengths to make it happen. The HD Project replaces virtually all the textures in the game’s three k

The Culling 2 released on Tuesday, with Xaviant having halted development of the original Culling to produce the sequel. Steam user Fairlight was even less complimentary, stating “I stubbed my toe on the way to install this game. The Culling 2’s user base has fallen off a cliff, too. According to Steam Charts, while the first game peaked at 12,622 concurrent users, The Culling 2’s all-time peak was just 249 players. Joking aside, The Culling 2’s struggles have prompted a response from Xaviant.

pcgamer wrote a new post, Amplitude Studios teases new Endless Legend expansion, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Amplitude Entertainment has teased a new Endless Legend project, probably an expansion, named Endless Legend: Inferno. Posting on the studio’s creation platform Games2Gether, the tease came as community manager François Hardy announced Amplitude was departing for its 10-day summer break. “We’re about to close shop for about 10 days, as we head early into our annual summer break,” Hardy wrote. Therefore, we’d hazard a guess that Inferno will involve demons rising from Endless Legend’s equivalent
