pcgamer wrote a new post, Check out this rad red Genji cosplay, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Overwatch heroes are obviously popular with cosplayers, but some of those characters have easier outfits to make than others. I’ve seen a lot of McCrees, because a hat, a cigar, and the ability to say “It’s high noon!” “The moment I saw Genji in the Overwatch roster when he had yet to be named, I knew for a fact I wanted to cosplay him. Numerous people have also said they would love to use the skin in-game, which is a pretty high compliment.” Check out more of Avery Bird’s cosplay on Instagram a

pcgamer wrote a new post, How I pulled off the greatest escape from No Man’s Sky’s deadliest planet, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
I have barely any resources for crafting and no terrain manipulator addon for my multi-tool to dig my way out. Each step costs me an alarming amount of life support, which makes moving very far from my ship impossible. It is more than enough to craft the terrain manipulator and launch fuel I need to actually escape. After evaporating a few meters of earth, the terrain manipulator stops working even though its still charged. Maybe the constant strain of my life support was weighing on my more tha

pcgamer wrote a new post, Chris Roberts responds to Star Citizen ‘pay-to-win’ concerns after removal of in-game currency cap, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Star Citizen is no stranger to “pay-to-win” accusations, but the criticism intensified this week following developer Cloud Imperium Games’ decision to remove the cap on in-game currency that players can accumulate. Chris Roberts, Cloud Imperium Games co-founder, has responded to those concerns by saying that removing the cap does not make Star Citizen pay-to-win because there is no “specific win state”. “This may be a foreign concept to gamers as the majority of games are about winning and losin

pcgamer wrote a new post, Describe a game in 5 words, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Borrowing a prompt from the Xbox UK Twitter account , which itself borrowed it from someone else, who also probably borrowed it, today we’re not asking a question but putting forward a challenge: describe a game as best (or absurdly) as you can using just five words. You can describe the plot, or what you do in the game, or a character—whatever gets the point across. Here’s what some of the PC Gamer team had to say, and we’ll add our favorites from the PC Gamer Club, the comments, and Twitter to

Break enemy lines with Gridironhardt Reinhardt (Legendary)! 🏈Join us in Busan for Summer Games, kicking off August 9. pic.twitter.com/DIHj9XmaBvAugust 4, 2018Blizzard has unveiled the second legendary skin for the Overwatch Summer Games—a menacing Reinhardt in a full football/American football (depending on your current location) uniform. It’s one of the best-looking Reinhardt skins I’ve seen—if I saw it charging towards me on the field, I’d get out of the way sharpish. The annual Summer Games w

pcgamer wrote a new post, FIFA 19 is getting a ‘survival’ mode, where you lose a player every time you score, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
In FIFA 19, you’ll be able to kick lumps out of your opponent without ever getting sent off. Perhaps the most intriguing rule set is Survival, in which you lose a player every time you score a goal. It should lead to even matches—it’ll be hard to score when you’re playing 8v11—and add a touch of comedy: you’re basically racing to get the match abandoned. I was already itching to play FIFA 19 and, as someone that plays it most when I have a group of friends around, I’m looking forward to it even

pcgamer wrote a new post, NHL 19 could come to PC ‘if there is enough demand’, says creative director, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Two years ago, Evan wrote that the PC needed a hockey game, and that still holds true today. EA Sports’ NHL series last released on PC in 2008, so for ten years hockey fans have had to turn to consoles to play the best sim of the sport. But that could soon change, according to NHL 19’s creative director William Ho, who says the game could come to PC “if there is enough demand”. In an interview with Shacknews, he was asked when the release date for NHL 19 on PC would be. The NHL 19 release date f

The World of Warcraft cookbook let us cook spider kabobs, but now there’s an official Fallout cookbook coming we’ll finally be able to make our own baked bloatfly and mole rat manicotti. The Vault Dweller’s Official Cookbook is written by Victoria Rosenthal, who runs the Pixelated Provisions blog. Imperfect as they were, Mass Effect and its sequels felt like they were dealing with gender and sexuality in a way that’s much more common to science fiction outside of games. “Science fiction is an interpretation of the present, through the lens of the future,” Robertson says. Representation in science fiction isn’t just about who can see themselves in a fantasy. “Science fiction is social fiction”, he said. I get the impression Heather Robertson’s ideas about science fiction are similar.

Dead Cells made it into our list of the best metroidvania games alongside the likes of Cave Story + and Hollow Knight even though it was still in Early Access, and has only improved since then. To celebrate its impending release from the dungeon of lengthy public betas, it’s got a cool new animated trailer that sums up its core loop of killing, dying, and trying again with some new gear. When Shaun first played it last year, here’s how he summed up the unusual hook of Dead Cells: “A very excelle

Fortnite has had its fair share of bizarre bugs since it launched last September, and the latest is linked to guided missiles, which were reinstated this week after a heavy nerf from Epic. Players have discovered that a missile’s turning speed is directly linked to their framerate: the more frames you’re getting, the faster the missile will turn. The bug was first pointed out by Reddit user SwordofFlames , who uploaded a video as proof, part of which you can watch above. Other users in the threa

Steam sales used to be very different. In addition to a standard price cut throughout any given sale, some games would have temporary mega-discounts called Flash Sales. The report cites information from the Valve-backed Steam Translation Server, which volunteers use to translate Steam text into other languages. If Valve decides to bring Flash Sales back—and nothing is confirmed at the moment—I think it’ll be a mistake. But I’m sure other people liked the Flash Sales, which undeniably turned a St

Joe enjoyed the two-hour demo he played of HEVN, a slow-paced sci-fi game about exploring the faraway planet of Naic, comparing it to both Soma and Event[0]. That was more than a year ago, just before its release was delayed indefinitely. Miga also released a new trailer, which you can see above, to show how far the game has come. The aesthetic will put some people off, but there’s enough variety in the environments to keep me interested. It really opens up from there, judging by Joe’s playthrou

Riot Games has rolled out its first “experimental mode” to League of Legends: the fast-paced Nexus Blitz. The developer said it plans to add “a couple” of experimental modes every year—they’ll arrive as “unpolished prototypes”, complete with borrowed art, and players will test them out and provide feedback, which will immediately start to shape changes. The aim is to find some new permanent modes for the MOBA. Nexus Blitz matches will last around 15 minutes, and each team will consist of a duo j
