pcgamer wrote a new post, Five months after its woeful PC port, Chrono Trigger receives its final patch, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
When the PC port of Chrono Trigger came out in February, it made one of the best-loved RPGs of the past 25 years look like a shoddy mobile game. The fifth and final one arrived yesterday, and—judging by Steam reviews—the game is finally where it should’ve been in the first place. Virtually every review comments on how much the port has improved since its initial release. As one user succinctly put it (and this was their entire review): “Port was bad, now it’s good.” Square Enix signed off the pa

pcgamer wrote a new post, Alter Army, the game made by two 16-year-olds, has a new trailer and release date, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
In November of last year we posted about Alter Army, a zippy-looking platform-brawler with a neat art style being made by two teenagers. One is that its creators, Mridul Pancholi and Mridul Bansal of Indian studio Vague Pixels, have turned 16. The other is that their game is finally ready for launch. A new trailer to celebrate the occasion shows its heroes suiting up, then punching, zapping, and guitaring enemies throughout a “dying civilization”. Alter Army looks very rock and roll.

pcgamer wrote a new post, This week’s highs and lows in PC gaming, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Now that I’m back in the bay, I only play when I actually want to, and I play for fun before victories and challenges. And, honestly, if it was just a game about flying around aimlessly and taking photos of things, I’d be happy. You can play an odd game, or play a game in an odd way. In Sea of Thieves, you’re just supposed to float around having a good time until adventure finds you. My real low is how much it bugs me when I see people say there’s ‘no content’ in Sea of Thieves.

pcgamer wrote a new post, No Man’s Sky Next: the answers to ten burning questions, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
For all the noticeable improvements to be enjoyed in No Man’s Sky’s recent Next update, the game is still…obtuse, to put it kindly. But you needn’t be as confused as we were, because we’ve gathered a bunch of answers to these common questions to help you in your travels, both in multiplayer and singleplayer modes. But while in multiplayer, the community has already discovered an unfortunate limitation: Only one player’s freighter can exist in a system at once. You can beam anything from your sui

pcgamer wrote a new post, Riot Games says it’s working on more than just League of Legends, possibly including an MMO, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Riot Games is kind of an ironically-named developer, because for all practical purposes it only makes one, the decade-old League of Legends. “We’re emerging from being the ‘League of Legends’ company to whatever it will be in the future. “We think of League of Legends as a niche market that’s really focused.” That’s the only type of game we want to create: games with longevity — that’s worth your time.” Riot recently released a new comic and cinematic video featuring Ryze, one of League of Legen

pcgamer wrote a new post, 9 degenerate combos coming with Hearthstone’s The Boomsday Project, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
With that in mind, today I want to examine some of the most powerful synergies and combos that will be coming when The Boomsday Project lands on August 6. On a later turn, play Leeroy, hit the face for 6, Cube the Leeroy and attack for 3 with your Blade. This ought to position the class well as a combo deck, but for one minor problem: they don’t have a game-winning combo. With that in mind, let’s consider a simple—but powerful—combo that Odd Paladin will be gaining access to with The Boomsday Pr

Solid state drives are great, but hard drives will always win out in terms of GB per dollar. If you need to add a massive amount of storage to your PC (or NAS, or security system, or whatever else), Toshiba’s P300 3TB hard drive is just $64.99 right now. Not only is this currently one of the cheapest 3TB hard drives you can buy, it also has an average 4/5 star rating on Newegg (out of 400 reviews). You can buy the P300 3TB from Newegg. Russian Subway Dogs, the game about dogs who ride the subway in Russia (and also steal food, hang out with cats, juggle vodka, and fight bears) is now available on Steam, and to get things off on the right paw publisher Devolver Digital has released a launch trailer featuring real dogs doing pretend interviews about the game. Russian Subway Dogs is based on the real-life homeless dogs in Moscow, who have apparently figured out how to survive and even thrive in the city’s subway system. Russian w

pcgamer wrote a new post, Doom Eternal gameplay reveal coming next week, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
On one hand, it’s a little silly to be critical of the lack of detail in id Software’s Doom Eternal announcement back in June at E3. Watch live as we unleash the world premiere of #DOOM Eternal gameplay on Friday, August 10 at 11am CT/12pm ET. Don’t miss the action-packed reveal of the sequel to DOOM, presented by id Software. Also from the Doom 2 scene are Pain Elementals, Arachnotrons, and Arch-Viles, all of whom are apparently making a comeback. The Doom Eternal gameplay reveal will take plac

pcgamer wrote a new post, World of Warcraft players are removing their shoulder armor to protest their evil warchief, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
This week has been a painfully tumultuous one for World of Warcraft’s Horde players. Horde players expected a big twist but were instead treated to the horror of watching their own warchief Sylvanas Windrunner order the burning in a seemingly hotheaded, last-minute decision. While Horde players aren’t exactly a friendly bunch, the faction takes honor seriously and burning thousands of innocents to death didn’t go over well with the players. It’s obvious that most Horde players despise Sylvanas a

The Humble Monthly Bundle for September features a first-time-ever twist in the style of Let’s Make a Deal. For $12 you can take home Sniper Elite 4, Tales of Berseria, and Staxel right now as the “early unlock” games for the month—or you can go for what’s behind Door Number Two! Which in this case is not a live goat but Rise of the Tomb Raider, which subscribers can select in place of the other three games as an “alternate early unlock option.” The August monthly package included The Surge, Sud

Office chairs might be the unsung heroes of gaming. It helps if you can find one on sale, as is the case with Vertagear’s Triigger 275—it’s available at Newegg today for $439.99. While not cheap, that is $160 off its MSRP, and $260 less than Newegg’s claimed (and inflated) list price. The Triigger 275 derives its name from the more than 275 individual components it’s constructed from, 80 of which comprise the dual spring hub that controls the seat height, tilt angle, and tilt tension. Blizzard put out the word on Twitter last night that the 2018 Overwatch Summer Games will kick off on August 9 and run until August 30. You’ll get a kick out of this! New skins in the 2017 Summer Games cost the standard amount for event skins (3000 gold), while 2016 skins were a third of that price. Last year’s event also made a few changes to the 2016 version of Lucioball, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that happen again. A more detailed look at the 2018 Overwatch Summer Games is presumably

AMD is expected to release its second generation Threadripper processors any day now, and we know the one question that’s been gnawing at your brain: What will the packaging look like!? There has already been an unboxing of one of AMD’s upcoming Threadripper chips, though the video of it has since been taken down, likely at the behe

Armada is going to get a Super Star Destroyer ‘miniature.’ Super Star Destroyer at the FFG booth. Following Star Wars canon, a Super Star Destroyer should actually be bigger. Fantasy Flight says the Super Star Destroyer is only one of a new class of huge ships, though I have no idea what else they’d make.

The Sims 4 Seasons expansion adds new stuff for your sims to do in different weather conditions. It started with one death outside a gym. This is such a bizarre and horrifying spectacle that it attracts the attention of other Sims in the area. This makes matters worse because Sims can see Death, which encourages them to rubberneck, then they start to actually freeze, and their deaths draw an even larger crowd. The game gives you a lot of warning before one of your Sims freezes to death, but we l
