pcgamer wrote a new post, What video card do I need for a 4K monitor?, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti – 60 fps 4K gaming with no compromisesThe 1080 Ti is currently the only card at acceptable prices that offers consistent 60 fps gaming at high to ultra settings at 4K. The Titan Xp beats the 1080 Ti by a slight margin, and the Titan V beats it by a wide margin, but cost $1200 (£1149) and $3000 (£2,800) respectively, while the 1080 Ti can be found for $650 (£600). pcgamer wrote a new post, Watch the first trailer for Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s next DLC, featuring a loved-up Hans Capon, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
Warhorse Studios has released a teaser trailer for its next serving of Kingdom Come: Deliverance DLC, called the Amorous Adventures of Bold Sir Hans Capon, in which you’ll help Sir Hans win the heart of Karolina, the butcher’s daughter. I hated Sir Hans early in the game, but he slowly grew on me, so I’ll probably be happy to lend him a hand. You’ll be able to pick up the quest at the end of the game or by making friends with Sir Hans earlier on. We don’t yet have a concrete release date, but Wa

pcgamer wrote a new post, Check out this great Liara Mass Effect cosplay, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
There’s one particular photo of Jennifer Pryer as Liara T’Soni from Mass Effect that gets reposted on Reddit pretty regularly. It’s appeared repeatedly on r/gaming and r/masseffect with titles like “Liara cosplay! Her eyes make the whole thing” or “Jaw-dropping Mass Effect Cosplay” over the last four years. Though it’s earned thousands of upvotes for the people who post it without crediting her, Pryer seems a little embarrassed by the photo. It paid off when BioWare tweeted it, quoting Liara’s l

pcgamer wrote a new post, Shovel Knight double expansion coming in April, including a local multiplayer ‘showdown’ mode, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
Shovel Knight’s final two expansions will launch in April—and one of them is a newly-announced, local multiplayer add-on called Showdown. Showdown will bring together all the key heroes and villains of Shovel Knight (16 of them), and some of them are playable for the first time. Showdown will be free for all owners of any edition of Shovel Knight, but it will also release as a standalone game. You control King Knight on a thirty-stage adventure that spans four different worlds. That, too, will b

pcgamer wrote a new post, Turn-based roguelike Deep Sky Derelicts leaving Early Access on September 26, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
How does a “mix of Darkest Dungeon and XCOM with a pinch of Hearthstone and FTL” sound to you? Then you should probably keep an eye on Deep Sky Derelicts, a turn-based roguelike with card-based combat that’s leaving Early Access on September 26. You’ll be constantly upgrading your party with new items, and you can recruit new mercenaries as you progress. In the 1.0 update, developer Snowhound Games will add the final derelict—the Mothership—and finalise the game’s story. They’ll also tweak the b

pcgamer wrote a new post, Amazonian survival game Green Hell now in Early Access, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
First-person “psychological survival simulator” Green Hell has entered Early Access, and developer Creepy Jar plans to release it in full in three months. In the Early Access version, you’ll be able to play a “sneak peak” of the story mode—you’re guided by a voice from a portable radio—and explore half of the game’s final map, where you’ll encounter five hostile creatures. The map is based on an area of the real Amazon rainforest, which is neat. Early updates will introduce new enemies, new deat

pcgamer wrote a new post, Nuclear Throne developer Vlambeer shows off new bullet hell shooter, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
Nuclear Throne developer Vlambeer has revealed its next game: a colourful, bullet hell shooter. According to IGN, it currently uses just three buttons—the arrow keys to move your ship left and right, and the X key to shoot. It all takes place on one screen, and you’ll be dodging between enemy ships and avoiding bullets all the time. He said he couldn’t say how much longer development will last, “maybe a month, maybe six months”, or possibly longer than that. Nuclear Throne was an excellent top-d

pcgamer wrote a new post, Magneto mod lets you do all the best Magneto things in GTA 5, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
I saw two second of a clip of this mod script on Reddit and knew it was JulioNIB’s work. And it could be the modder’s best work yet: bringing Magneto, the master of magnetism, into GTA 5. The video above shows off Magneto’s powers, from levitating and hurling cars to pulling a plane out of the sky and using it to smash a helicopter. You can pull guns out of people’s hands—with magnetism—and make the guns shoot the person who was trying to shoot you, which is such a Magneto thing to do. You can l

pcgamer wrote a new post, Anthem’s new ‘Our World, My Story’ trailer makes big claims about its storytelling, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
The latest trailer for Bioware’s Anthem, debuting at PAX 2018 today, is full of impressive action and combat, but its voiceover is all about storytelling. “At the heart of Anthem is the concept of our world, my story,” begins the narrator. Those characters won’t be going on missions with you, though—those are for you to tackle solo or with up to three other real live human players. Then it drops a pretty bold claim: “This is real-time storytelling: a reinvention of personal narrative in a multip

pcgamer wrote a new post, Anthem will get a demo in February, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
During a pre-panel press briefing at PAX West, Mark Darrah and Mike Gamble of BioWare announced that the VIP demo for Anthem will be arriving on February 1st for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 simultaneously. ‘VIP’ because EA Access subscribers and anyone who preorders are the only ones guaranteed access, though more methods for having a go at the demo will be detailed at a later date. Gamble and Darrah said that this will not be a tech demo meant designed for testing online infrastructure, but a legitim

pcgamer wrote a new post, Anthem’s conversation system allows for two dialogue choices, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
During a Q&A session at a pre-panel press briefing on Anthem at PAX West, BioWare debuted footage of the conversation system players will use in Fort Tarsis, the singleplayer area players visit between multiplayer missions. Forgoing the complex conversation wheel of previous BioWare games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age, Anthem will only allow for two dialogue choices in conversations. The two choices aren’t aligned with a morality system of any kind, but do differ in tone slightly. We wanted to

pcgamer wrote a new post, The Blackout Club stars a terrifying monster that wouldn’t work without co-op, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
Thomas and I are teaming up in The Blackout Club, an upcoming cooperative horror game from Question Games. If it doesn’t sound too unique quite yet, that’s because we’ve yet to meet The Shape, the invisible monster you definitely don’t want to meet. Like the best horror movie monsters, The Shape has clear rules of operation. I think I hear Thomas laughing. The Blackout Club isn’t just another Left 4 Dead-like, or an attempt to do Dead by Daylight in the suburbs.

pcgamer wrote a new post, Valkyria Chronicles 4 is a hell of a lot like Valkyria Chronicles, for good and bad, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
So did some of Valkyria Chronicles’ more blatantly ‘gamey’ level design touches. So I went into Valkyria Chronicles 4 expecting a decade of refinement on those systems, or some new twists on them. Valkyria Chronicles 4 runs on the same engine as the recent remaster of Valkyria Chronicles that brought the game to PC for the first time, and it shows: other than its nice, sharp resolution, Valkyria Chronicles 4 feels like it could’ve been made a decade ago. This is not an ambitious sequel, but it’s

Don’t worry, because Gato Roboto is not one. It’s a ‘Cat Mechtroidvania’, which is clearly something completely different. It has cats, a robot mech, black-and-white visuals, and a womp-womp bassline. In some sections, you’ll play as the cat, jumping off walls and avoiding danger Super Meat Boy-style. In others, your cat will jump into a giant robot mech and blast frogs, drones and bees with a huge rocket gun.

pcgamer wrote a new post, Path of Exile’s endless dungeon expansion, Delve, is out now, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
Path of Exile’s Delve expansion is out now, and it adds a long-abandoned Azurite Mine—an infinite dungeon with a twist. Delve is a temporary challenge league, which means you’ll start with a brand new character who has several months to explore it before the next expansion launches. It’s built into the core game, and to power the Crawler you’ll have to find veins of Voltaxic Sulphite in the main story. You can upgrade the Crawler as you progress, and you’ll hit different biomes, each of which wi

It could even be a port of a game that never made it to PC, or a game that became something totally different midway through release. The game was meant to come out in 2012 but by 2014 had been cancelled. Chris Livingston: IonIt was described by DayZ creator Dean Hall as a game that was not a game, which I guess is still true since Ion still isn’t and apparently won’t ever be a game. pcgamer wrote a new post, Hitman 2 will have a Colombian jungle level, teaser trailer released, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
IO Interactive has teased a Colombian jungle level for Hitman 2, and it’ll be full of enemies dressed in big blue ponchos and dense shrubbery in which to hide their bodies. Perhaps it’ll also nod to the Colombian jungle mission way back in Hitman: Codename 47, the first game in the series, which would be neat. Hitman 2 is out in November, and it’ll include updated versions of Hitman 1’s levels as DLC. We’ve already got a look at its dazzling Miami level, and watched Agent 47 kill a man with a fi

CS:GO Free Edition came to Steam this week, and it’ll be a good starting point for anybody that hasn’t already jumped in, giving you a flavour of the mechanics—and a chance to learn the maps—without the pain of getting annihilated in online matches. I’m sure most players that have ever been curious about it will have picked it up for cheap in a sale, but hey, if you haven’t, now’s your chance for a free taste. It’s still worth playing, too: it came in at number 20 our top 100 PC games list. It’s

pcgamer wrote a new post, Phantom Doctrine, the Cold War spy strategy game, is getting mod support, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
Cold War turn-based strategy game Phantom Doctrine (think XCOM with rougher edges) is getting mod support, developer CreativeForge Games has announced. As Evan said in his review, Phantom Doctrine is occasionally brilliant, but mostly boring because both its enemies and heroes are too simple. Again, that’d be something modders could address, adding new mission types and arenas in which to do battle. I’d be amazed if the Phantom Doctrine mod scene was as big as the one for XCOM 2, which has a muc
