pcgamer wrote a new post, Insurgency: Sandstorm’s PvE mode is immense fun in beta, but needs much better AI, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
Insurgency: Sandstorm, the third entry in the series that began as a Source Engine mod in 2007, has been delayed. In the meantime, I tried out the PvE mode in the Sandstorm beta. When it comes to combat, Sandstorm delivers that trademark Insurgency brutality with gusto, even in beta. A traditional horde mode pushes you to kill everything you see, but Insurgency’s realistic combat encourages avoidance-heavy play instead, setting it apart from many other horde mode games out there. Despite the iss

pcgamer wrote a new post, What unreleased game of 2018 are you most looking forward to?, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
For this week’s Q&A, we’re asking: What unreleased 2018 game are you most excited for? I’m not super interested in base-building, or even that keen on multiplayer, but I’m looking forward to exploring the world and seeing what it has to offer. I can’t say I don’t really wish Fallout 5 was coming out this year instead, but I’m definitely still looking forward to 76. It’s still hard to reconcile what it’ll be like versus playing a traditional Fallout game when we haven’t had hands-on with 76 yet,

pcgamer wrote a new post, AMD’s first-gen Threadripper 1920X has dropped to $420, half its original price, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
The new line of Threadripper CPUs is here, but that doesn’t make the older processors any less powerful. If you want to build a high-end PC for video editing, streaming, or other intensive tasks, last year’s Threadripper 1920X has dropped to $419.99 on Newegg. The 1920X is the mid-range model in AMD’s original Threadripper lineup, with 12 cores and 24 threads. This is a pretty great price for a 12-core processor, especially considering this will fully work with both generations of Threadripper m

pcgamer wrote a new post, Dying Light 2’s world-shaping choices are what I’ve always wanted from big games, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
I ask how the choices evolve over the course of Dying Light 2. “It’s not only the visual change, it’s not only the change on the game system side, you’re going to get access to new quests, or you’re going to lose them. You’re going to have one group of quests instead of another. So when you join me, you’re going to see my world, my decisions, my outcome, and I’m going to make decisions in my game. “Sometimes you’re going to make decisions you’re going to regret,” Jaskula says.

pcgamer wrote a new post, Ubisoft on Rainbow Six Siege toxicity bans, operator diversity and committing to multiplayer, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
He’s been involved with Siege since day one, and has compared the multiplayer shooter’s development to a fine French wine on more than one occasion. I do feel that we have a lot of years to come from Siege, the wine is very young still. He’s going to be a cool operator. In his past life I think he’s supposed to be a high profile, high-ranking secret operator Intelligence Officer. With so many operators today, there’s more scope than ever for new Siege players to become overwhelmed.

pcgamer wrote a new post, Celebrate National Video Games Day with this gallery of players pooping off the dam in Scum, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
It’s National Video Games Day! I’m honestly not sure what National Video Games Day is, or what it means, or if the entire thing is a completely fabricated holiday to get people to click on a hashtag. But the nice thing about a probably-fake holiday is that you can celebrate it just about however you like! My choice: a gallery of players pooping off the edge of the towering dam in Early Access survival game Scum. Of all the landmarks on Scum’s map, this seems to be the one people like to poop off

Downfall introduces a new combat style, an additional game mode and school challenges; best of all, it’s free. The heart of the expansion is the Downfall game mode, tasking pugilists with delving into the Adalian Mine, alone or with pals, to defeat Arcell and his followers, a group of corrupted Prospects. Faejin is the new fighting style, inspired by Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do martial art and philosophy. Finally there are the school challenges, testing Absolver’s player clans and making members co

Specifically, the European Parliament voted in favor of a set of changes to copyright law outlined in the Copyright Directive. The most controversial parts of the bill are Article 13 and Article 11, in that order. Alex Voss, the Member of European Parliament (MEP) who is spearheading the overhaul to copyright rules, said the fears are unfounded. “The European Commission’s proposal for Article 13 of the proposed Directive for Copyright in the Digital Single Market Directive was well-intended. pcgamer wrote a new post, NZXT is now selling custom-built gaming PCs in Canada, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
NZXT is expanding its ‘BLD’ service to Canada after launching the unique service in the US just over a year ago. If you missed our coverage from last year, BLD is the name of NZXT’s custom desktop PC building service, with a twist. You then select a budget and preference towards AMD or Intel, and NZXT will configure a system (sans monitor and peripherals) around those selections. “Expanding into Canada is the obvious next step for BLD,” says Johnny Hou, NZXT’s founder and CEO. It marks the first

pcgamer wrote a new post, ‘Naked demon with a large penis’ and other content descriptors waiting for approval on Steam, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
There’s a minor catch, though: before a game can be sold on Steam, the developer needs to clearly describe any explicit content contained within. That information is displayed to Steam users before they decide whether or not to view the game’s store page, and users can entirely filter out games containing explicit content. Today, developer Georgiy Kukhtenkov emailed me to let me know that, like the developers of Negligee: Love Stories, they have also written a Steam content description for their

The brawl, Duel of the Death Knights, has both players battling as a Death Knight, playing decks loaded up with Knights of the Froz

pcgamer wrote a new post, Here’s the trailer for Tencent’s battle royale with snowboards coming to Steam next week, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
In Ring of Elysium you’re a tourist—one of a hundred—at a mountain resort when a terrible winter storm rolls in. There’s only one rescue chopper left and it can only carry four people as the storm’s freezing circle closes around you. You know what that means: battle royale. “The game world will change dynamically as the disaster progress,” claims the store page. The scenario ultimately feels a bit more grim, somehow, than the standard post-apocalyptic competition that usually accompanies a battl

The release of RocketID, a new addition to Rocket League announced earlier this year that will enable cross-platform friends and parties, has been delayed. The plan had been to roll out the RocketID feature this month, but developer Psyonix said today that it’s not going to happen. “As outlined in our Summer Roadmap Update, our goal was to release RocketID in September, but we’ve made the difficult decision to push it out of September and include it in a future update,” Psyonix wrote. “Two major

Overwatch’s new map, Busan, has gone live, letting players muck around in D.Va’s striking hometown.
