  • The cube started spinning and then I was somewhere else and then a rift turned into a butterfly. We’re not sure what happened or what it means, but here’s what was in Fortnite’s cube all along. Once everyone was spit out of the butterfly dimension, Loot Lake was changed. Take a look at the new Loot Lake below. Since then, Kevin has rolled all over the map spawning low-gravity zones, strange runes, and more recently, cube monsters.

  • If you’d wanted to play 1992 platforming trilogy Jill of the Jungle last week, you would’ve probably had to do it illegally—but now it’s available on GOG, and it’s completely free. The trilogy, which was designed by now Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney (when the company was still called Epic MegaGames), consists of Jill of the Jungle, Jill Goes Underground and Jill Saves the Prince, and they’re all included in the package. GOG hasn’t set an end date for the freebie deal, so presumably it’ll stay free

  • Rust players really like hot air balloons, apparently: since they were added this week, along with surface-to-air missiles that can shoot them down, the player count for the survival game has inflated to an all-time high. Looking at data from Steam Charts, you can see a definite spike around the time of the release of the latest update. I’ve never played Rust, but jumping in a hot air balloon with some friends to glide calmly over an enemy’s base at the start of a raid sounds like fun. The SAM m

  • Blizzard was expecting some backlash following the announcement of its massively multiplayer Diablo Immortal mobile game, but “not to this degree”, according to studio co-founder Allen Adham. The backlash, which included fans claiming Blizzard was “spit[ting] in the faces” of the community, was nothing new, Adham told Kotaku. That never materialised, but Adham moved to reassure fans that Blizzard was still working on “multiple unannounced Diablo projects”, and said that the development of Immort

  • Little Dragons Café, from the original creator of Harvest Moon, will come to PC on November 15, localisation studio Aksys Games has announced. It’s a little bit of everything: part-shop sim, part-farming game, and part-fantasy world explorer. It’s from the mind of designer Yasuhiro Wada, who created the original, and much-loved, Harvest Moon. It’s his second game to come to PC after Birthdays the Beginning, which was marred by terrible mouse and keyboard controls. Hopefully Little Dragons Café,

  • If Joe’s glowing review wasn’t enough to make you pick up Football Manager 2019, which came out this week, then you can now play half a season for free in a newly-released demo. The demo will let you quick start seasons for a number of different leagues, and your save file will carry over to the full game, should you decide to purchase it. Joe said it’s the best ever in the series, with plenty of new headline features. As Joe found out while managing Bayern Munich, a dressing room revolt is a re

  • Joona “Serral” Sotala has become the first non-Korean to win StarCraft 2’s most prestigious tournament, the World Championship Series (WCS). He cemented his dominance by beating Protoss player Kim “Stats” Dae Yeob 4-2 in the final yesterday. He took a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series before Stats surged back to win the next two games. It wasn’t enough to stop Serral, however, who won the sixth game to take a commanding victory. Skip to 1:40:00 to watch Serral’s final, decisive push—accompani

  • But, the good news, is that doesn’t mean World of Warcraft: Classic will be a game forever stuck in stasis. After that, “when folks are ready,” World of Warcraft: Classic will add Blackwing Lair, battlegrounds and the PvP reward system, and Zul’Gurub. But it’s Silithus world content that I’m really excited for because Hazzikostas elaborated that, yes, it means that Classic will relive World of Warcraft’s greatest world event ever: The Opening of the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj. • Epic is adding a Kalashnikov-styled Heavy Assault Rifle to Fortnite, and it’ll be “most useful when fired in short bursts”. It’s described as a “powerful assault rifle” that is “coming soon”—usually, that means it’ll be in the battle royale game within a week. The fact it’s a “heavy” assault rifle probably means it’ll deal more damage than the standard M4. It’ll probably be less accurate, hence it being more useful when fired in bursts: I’d expect a fairly big recoil spray if you fire it full-au

  • Bethesda said in June that it was “100 percent committed” to Fallout 76 mod support, but not until some time after launch. It appears some inventive players didn’t get the memo, because mods for the beta version have already started popping up on Nexus Mods. Some of the mods replace images in the menus with snaps taken from various Fallout 76 trailers, while others replace menu audio with custom music, such as an acoustic version of the Fallout theme tune. • Treyarch has released the first update aimed at changing Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s PC meta, and if you’ve been smacking your enemies down with dual Saug 9mm submachine guns, it’s bad news. The MOG-12 pump-action shotgun has also been nerfed: Treyarch has reduced its one-hit kill range to try and balance out the strength of the barrel choke attachment. The Koshka, meanwhile, has been strengthened because it was the least-used sniper among PC players. You’ll now be able to one-shot players if yo

The trailer stars Sean Bean, who will be the game’s first Elusive Target, meaning you get one chance—and one chance only—to kill his character in a 10-day time period. • Blizzard is facing severe backlash following the reveal of its massively multiplayer Diablo Immortal mobile game at Blizzcon yesterday, with fans calling the announcement a “slap in the face.” The two most upvoted posts on the Diablo subreddit call the mobile game “worse than nothing,” “a slap in the face,” and accuse Blizzard of “spit[ting] in the faces” of the community. Fans have also claimed the game is a reskin of Crusaders of Light, another game by NetEase, which is partnering with Blizzar

  • After I’d wrapped up Origins, I started on Odyssey, but, honestly, I think I’m Assassin’s-Creeded-out. I have no idea how long I’ve played Fortnite this year, but it’s what I’ve returned to over and over and over again. Megaquarium isn’t actually the game I’ve spent the most time playing, though. For much of the year I bounced from game to game, not playing much for more than a few hours at a time. 2018 has been a great year for the game with all the new maps, champions, and game modes.”
