Vortiger, the Black Prior, a new For Honor hero that Ubisoft teased in December, will join the fight on January 31 for Year 3 Pass holders, at the beginning of the Year of the Harbinger. When she was defeated, the Order scattered, but now they’re back to fight for Vortiger and make amends for their past misdeeds. Black Priors are heavy heroes who, in case you didn’t notice it in the teaser, wield a funky longsword and bear a kite shield that’s roughly the size of a VW Microbus. The Black Priors

pcgamer wrote a new post, Sapphire says GPU mining is making a comeback, outs a 16GB Radeon RX 570, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 6 months ago
Or to put it another way, Sapphire plans to launch a Radeon RX 570 graphics card with 16GB of GDDR5 memory, which is twice as much as a regular Radeon RX 570. This is the reason why Sapphire is plopping gobs of memory on a special Radeon RX 570 variant. “Although GPU mining will eventually tail off, there is a tremendous opportunity for first-movers to take advantage of the high rewards from early mining. “This will allow miners to see-saw between each one as the difficulty swings from back and

pcgamer wrote a new post, Warhammer 40,000: Gladius’ Tyranids DLC adds a gruesome but fitting faction, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 6 months ago
Unconventional 4X Warhammer 40,000: Gladius welcomed the ravenous tyranids to the war over the titular planet this week. I dove into the DLC to find out if the tyranids really deserve their bad reputation. Tom called it bland in his Warhammer 40,000: Gladius review, and while I have a more favourable opinion, it’s often too straightforward. Gladius’ hook is that it’s as much a hexy tactics game as it is a 4X. The more of Gladius I play, the more convinced I am that diplomacy should stop being a

pcgamer wrote a new post, Ambitious space sim Genesis Alpha One shows off its roguelike bits in a new trailer, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 6 months ago
Genesis Alpha One, an unusual mix of roguelike shooter and spaceship building management game, has a new trailer that gives us a better look at how the roguelike elements work. It was announced back in 2017, but it looks like I’ve sleeping on Genesis Alpha One. As the captain of the titular ship, players have to traverse space to find new homes for humanity, or at least humanity’s DNA. On planets, there are resources to harvest and new aliens to meet (and also harvest), and from the looks of thi

Its newest model—and only its second standalone case in over a decade—is the ROG Strix Helios that was teased at CES. Asus classifies the ROG Strix Helios as a mid-tower. It has 10 expansion slots, though two of them sit vertically so you can display your graphics card in the same orientation. It will be interesting to see how seriously Asus takes the case market going forward. As for the ROG Strix Helios, the company has not yet announced a price or said when it will be available to buy.

Black Desert Online is a sandbox MMO with a very detailed character creator and surprisingly brilliant trade system. The new Shadow Arena mode is still in development, but you can try out an early access version in-game today. 50 players will be flung into an arena where they have to gather supplies and survive until they’re the last person standing. For now, the Warrior, Sorceress, Berserker, Tam

This piece is part of a series of articles that ran in PC Gamer UK issue 326celebrating Baldur’s Gate, 20 years on. While the prudent adventurer builds a party balanced by all the standard classes and capabilities, powerful warriors alongside erudite clerics and canny rogues, Baldur’s Gate has always been as much about who these characters were as what they could do. I have no doubt that, like me, you remember your favourite character’s one-liners far better than you remember their stats. Take X

One consequence of gathering so many players in each instance was an invasion of NPC ships. In memory of The View’s multiple casualties, Commander Flimsie offered a poem on Reddit:There once was a

One of the main selling points of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX series graphics cards is the prospect of real-time ray tracing. That’s what UFD Tech aimed to find out in a blind test. There was also an added wrinkle—not only did they have guess if RTX was on or off, they also guessed if the RTX setting was on low or ultra. Secondly, real-time ray tracing in games is in its infancy. They could only test this with actual gameplay in Battlefield 5 because that’s the only game that supports ray tracing at th

Last year, a massive purple cube rolled around Fortnite’s map for a long time before blossoming into a transdimensional butterfly. The iceberg appears to have a universal health bar that depletes for everyone on all servers whenever it’s hit with a pickaxe. O aqueous sphere, set us free! Heathens, those that follow the smoke, that cube which rolls and rolls and rolls, hearing nothing, answering nothing. May the orb set us free and drown our sins!
