pcgamer wrote a new post, Far Cry: New Dawn system requirements revealed, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 6 months ago
Ubisoft has committed the Far Cry: New Dawn system requirements to paper, and it’s no surprise that they’re almost identical to the hardware required to play last year’s Far Cry 5. There are a couple of small changes on the low-end side of the scale, though, which means that I can’t just say they’re the same and move on to something else. Far Cry: New Dawn is the who-killed-the-world sequel that follows nearly two decades after the surprise (and good, dammit) ending of Far Cry 5. Despite being a

pcgamer wrote a new post, Intel is axing its Core CPU bundles containing Optane Memory, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 6 months ago
Citing a lack of demand, Intel is going to stop selling its Core+ processor packages that come bundled with Optane Memory modules. There are three models—Core i7+ 8700, Core i5+ 8500, and Core i5+ 8400. Each one came with a regular version of the specified processor (Core i7-8700, Core i5-8500, and Core i5-8400), plus a 16GB Optane Memory stick. The benefit of Optane Memory is that it can speed up your system by caching frequently accessed data on your primary storage drive. That said, you can p

Update: Riot has clarified that the bullet points quoted in the original story are a summary of how Riot will make its new values a reality, not the values themselves. The page has been updated, with the values placed more clearly at the top. They’re split into five categories and cover things like Riot’s relationship with players and how employees work with each other. Original story: In August, after allegations of sexism and toxicity, Riot Games apologised and committed to changing its workpl

pcgamer wrote a new post, Nvidia’s latest GPU driver expands G-Sync support to FreeSync monitors, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 6 months ago
One of the big surprises at CES came when Nvidia announced it would be bringing G-Sync support to FreeSync monitors with an upcoming driver update for GeForce graphics card owners. This is a big deal because there are far more FreeSync monitors than there are G-Sync ones. Part of the up-charge is to account for the G-Sync hardware, though Nvidia contests that G-Sync monitors undergo more stringent testing. If your FreeSync monitor is not among the dozen listed, you can still manually enable VRR

No download is needed for today’s Rocket League update, which brings it into Sony’s PlayStation Cross-Play Beta program. That means that, starting today, Rocket League players on PlayStation 4 can play with Switch and Xbox players. PS4 players could already play with PC players, but the change does affect us. Previously, we could either match with Xbox and Switch players or PlayStation 4 players, but never a mixed-platform group including all of them. In the meantime, here’s to Rocket League uni

pcgamer wrote a new post, More details on Celeste’s free DLC, but no release date yet, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 6 months ago
Celeste was one of last year’s standout games, and we’re all surely pretty excited about the fact that it’s getting a free farewell DLC with some ultra hard levels soon, right? Well, not too soon, because according to developer Matt Thorson it won’t be ready for the game’s anniversary on January 25th, as he’d hoped. The new levels won’t have strawberries, the hard-to-find collectibles that players must hunt down throughout the game in order to change the ending. The DLC levels will, however, hav

A Dota 2 custom game mode designed by China-based Drodo Studio is taking the Dota 2 world by storm, reaching 100,000 concurrent players earlier today and racking up over 670,000 subscribed users. Dota Auto Chess is a strategic, tactically complex mix of board game and Dota custom map. Like Dota 2, Dota Auto Chess is completely free. Dota Auto Chess is a weird name for it, I’ll grant. pic.twitter.com/RTTRucRFVYJanuary 13, 2019You can find Dota Auto Chess here on Steam, or in-game in Dota 2’s work

Every Warhammer fan’s favorite army of biological horrors is coming to Warhammer 40,000: Gladius—Relics of War this week, releasing on January 15th. Tyranids are a swarm of devouring monsters, and play like them, with unique mechanics catered to that theme. Tyranids will apparently build up and expand by stripping biomass from their enemies, their own units, and the environment itself. At release, our Tom Senior called it “a solidly made strategy game, but a bland one” where most of the races di

Need more giant, world-ending cataclysmic monsters for the Dragonborn to fight? It’s also fully voiced, so it won’t be too jarring a transition from the regular game world. I’m not sure I can convey the ambition of this mod without asking you to take a look. Image 2 of 4 Nothing to see here, just a casual dragon fighting something from the aether beyond the stars. Image 4 of 4 Warning: Do not look directly into dimensional rifts.

pcgamer wrote a new post, After spat with Unity, Improbable teams up with Epic Games for $25m ‘transition’ fund, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 6 months ago
Improbable and Epic Games have announced a surprise new $25,000,000 fund “to help developers transition to more open engines, services, and ecosystems”. It appeared as if the companies were close to a resolution, but the newly revealed Epic / Improbable initiative paints another picture. The $25m fund was announced in a letter co-authored by Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney and Improbable CEO Herman Narula, and is presumably targeted towards studios and projects that use both the Unity engine and Spat

Described as a “delightful dystopian adventure”, Pikuniku is a vibrantly coloured puzzle game with a cheerful-but-knowing Adult Swim mood about it. As far as I can tell, it’s all about guiding a charming long-legged blob through an open-ended cartoon world. This long-legged blob will need to help various other blob-like characters solve a series of hilarious condundrums. The protagonist blob is presumably more capable of solving problems thanks to the length of their legs (they’re long). In the

Crypt of the Necrodancer is a rhythm-based roguelike that’s already hard-as-nails, but runner Spootybiscuit ramps the challenge up to unfathomable levels by using Necrodancer’s hardest character, Coda, which Spootybiscuit says the developers almost didn’t add to the game because she was too challenging. On normal difficulty, Necrodancer requires you to move to the beat while exploring dungeons filled with monsters that also move to the same beat. When Coda is in play, enemies that drop 0 gold wi

We mentioned this earlier today when looking at the additional benchmark results AMD published for the Radeon VII. If Hell actually exists, then surely it is this RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 track that takes 12 real-time years to complete before you can get off. Designed by mad-scientist YouTuber Marcel Vos, this roller coaster is an impressive feat of engineering that pushes the 17-year-old game to its absolute limits. The previous record, also held by Vos, was a roller coaster that took a mere 232 real days to complete. But using some clever tricks and a lot of track, Vos was able to smash that record by a fact
