  • It’s a phenomenal character action game, as deep and rewarding to master as it is flat-out ridiculous. The point is, if Devil May Cry 5 was the only Japanese action game that came out this month, it’d still be the best month for the genre in years. December 2003, Japan: This month an incredibly rare three character action games came out at once, but only in Japan. Watch the trailer closely and you’ll see, at 1:40, a number of tall, neon-lit skyscrapers, one of which bears the number “01.” And, maybe most convincing, the first Borderlands released in October 2009, and releasing Borderlands 3 on the tenth anniversary of the original would be a nice touch. Outward has local split-screen and online co-op, but for a lot of players, attempts to play online ended in frustration and failure. Ubisoft has confirmed it’ll be returning to E3 in 2019, with its conference beginning on June 10th at 1PM PT. I predict Watch Dogs 3 will be announced, which is rumoured to be set in London (and, I imagine if that’s true, minus any Brexit commentary whatsoever). I also think we’ll see a completely new game, probably intended for next-gen consoles and PC, that’ll be miles off but get everyone talking in the vein of the original Watch Dogs reveal. Whispers of a Machine is Nordic noir sci-fi adventure set in a post-AI world with cybernetically enhanced cops, including protagonist and special agent Vera. Being a cyber cop, Vera’s got a few sci-fi tricks up her sleeve thanks to some fancy nano juice called Blue. Though it seems more overtly gloomy than Technobabylon’s dystopia-masquerading as-a-utopia, I was still immediately reminded of Wadjet Eye’s sci-fi thriller. It turns out that Wadjet Eye’s Dave Gilbert is involved, too, directing the

Divinity: Fallen Heroes is a tactical game with more than a few RPG trappings, set after the events of our 2017 GOTY Divinity: Original Sin 2. Divinity: Original Sin 2 was great overall—take a look at my review—but the tactical combat really stole the show. The greater focus on tactics in Divinity: Fallen Heroes doesn’t mean there won’t still be a story full of choice, consequences and other elements drawn from the RPGs. It’s a “tactical game with all the depth of an RPG,” says Larian, which is

Gearbox has released a teaser trailer for a new Borderlands game today, which it is noticeably not calling Borderlands 3, even though we can probably speculate that’s what it is. There’s a lot of familiar faces, however, trapped in the titular Mask of Mayhem. Now, I’m not saying Borderlands 3, or whatever this is, will be full of pirates and nautical adventures, but I certainly wouldn’t complain.
