pcgamer wrote a new post, Type Dreams is a laudanum-fuelled Victorian typing game, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 3 months ago
A Victorian typing game was not what I would have predicted as the next game from Cart Life developer Richard Hofmeier. Type Dreams is very much not like this at all. Still in development, the current version of Type Dreams is a slightly wonky competitive typing game where you pick your typewriter, from Remington to IBM (perhaps dropped off by a time traveller), legendary typist and then compete with the AI in a test of speed. Typing seems like a pretty sedate activity, but not in Type Dreams, w

pcgamer wrote a new post, Final Fantasy 14 director’s next-gen project has finished early development, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 3 months ago
No screenshots or art yet, so here’s a scowling dude from Final Fantasy 14. Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida is working on a “next generation” project at Square Enix’s new 3rd Development Headquarters. “This project has already finished its initial development, has finished developing its development environment, and is now shifting to a full-scale large-scale development phase.” Final Fantasy 15 launched on consoles in 2016 and, with its final piece of DLC launching just recently, it’s n

pcgamer wrote a new post, Totally Accurate Battle Simulator makes a sneak attack on Early Access, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 3 months ago
If, like me, you’ve been following Landfall Games CEO Wilhelm Nylund on Twitter, you’ve been subjected to perhaps hundreds of amusing gifs from Totally Accurate Battle Simulator. But when is it coming out, you may have cried, desperate to make your own gifs of wacky (yet totally accurate) physics-based battles. Totally Accurate Battle Simulator is now on Steam Early Access. There are more armies to come—in the menu, one unavailable tab shows what looks like a ninja’s star, and another shows a pi

pcgamer wrote a new post, Assassin’s Creed 3 has been removed from Steam and Uplay, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 3 months ago
Search for Assassin’s Creed 3 on the Uplay store and you’ll only see the new remaster. The same is true on Steam but the original version’s store page still exists. However, the purchase button has been removed and this text has been added: “Notice: At the request of the publisher, Assassin’s Creed® III is no longer available for sale on Steam.” If you already own the game on either service you should still be able to download and play it. As well as graphical changes, the remastered version fea

pcgamer wrote a new post, Epic responds to claim of stolen Fortnite character skin (update), on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 3 months ago
Update: DeviantArt user Pyro-Zombie and DingDongVG on Twitter have both declared the accusation of plagiarism by Epic Games to be false. Using Google cache, they say they’ve found a different image was originally posted to DeviantArt and was only recently replaced with one resembling the Fortnite skin. Original story: Taro is a new Fortnite skin added to the game’s store on November 14. This is just awful, A company like epic games, just STEALING the design from a small artist for making profit

pcgamer wrote a new post, Bayonetta is $5 on Steam until Tuesday, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 3 months ago
You can pick up Bayonetta, one of the best action games on PC, for just $5/£3.75 on Steam until Tuesday. If you haven’t played it yet, you absolutely should: Phil gave it 93/100 in his review, and it’s still on out list of the top 100 PC games. It’d be a good one to play if you just finished Devil May Cry 5, I reckon. The daily deal lasts until 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm GMT on Tuesday, so you have a couple of days to capitalize. PlatinumGames released Bayonetta in 2009 but, as Durante wrote for us when

pcgamer wrote a new post, Dead Cells developer ‘looking into’ releasing games on Google Stadia, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 3 months ago
The developer of Dead Cells is “looking into” releasing its games on Google’s Stadia streaming service, which was announced earlier this month. He also revealed that the Dead Cells dev team were “not planning on stopping anytime soon” with extra content, following the huge, free Rise of the Giant update this week. The studio will release another update in the summer, and plans to add new levels to Dead Cells later in the year, he said. Motion Twin has not decided whether these updates will be fr

Blizzard may have cancelled Heroes of the Storm’s competition circuit and removed the option to buy loot chests with real money, but they are still updating it. The latest update is a cyberpunk-themed spring event, which is currently live. It gives Heroes of the Storm a neon makeover that makes it look like a Shadowrun game, and tells the story of a conflict in the Caldeum Acropolis in the year 2013. Rival gangs the Azure Dragons and Onyx Turtles have combined forces to take down the Jigoku Cybe

pcgamer wrote a new post, A photo mode’s been hacked into Sekiro, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 3 months ago
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a rather nice-looking game that unfortunately doesn’t have a photo mode, but that hasn’t stopped avid screenshotters from finding a way. Jim2point0 (recently responsible for the Resident Evil 2 camera hack) has been using Cheat Engine to take some pretty screens of Sekiro, and has shared the table he used to do it. You can toggle the HUD, alter FOV, and now he’s updated it so you can freeze time, or just enemies, to line up exactly the shot you need. Screenshotters h

Tom Senior: Ninja theoryI thought Sekiro might be a shorter game to pad out Activision’s release schedule with some swordfighting action. Sekiro features From Software’s best combat system yet, and for PC players that missed out on the sublime Bloodborne, this is a must-play. My favorite part was when he started describing each card that comes with the Borderlands tabletop game. I really loved the earlier Mount & Blade games and I’m dying to get my hands on Bannerlord as soon as possible. I’d pl

pcgamer wrote a new post, Valve’s VR headset is called Index, and it’s coming soon, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 3 months ago
Without any sort of announcement, a teaser for the Valve Index has appeared on Steam. It is clearly Valve’s VR headset. (A point of clarification: The HTC Vive is commonly considered ‘Valve’s headset’ because it’s the primary SteamVR headset, but it’s made by HTC. Valve’s headset has been rumored for a while, and became just about a sure thing when convincing-looking images leaked last November. (Also it’d be a bit weird to announce a VR headset that looks just like those leaked photos as a joke

pcgamer wrote a new post, Valve wants a do-over with Artifact, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 3 months ago
Things have not gone well for Valve’s much-publicized CCG Artifact since its November 2018 release. It’s a remarkable decline, particularly for Valve, which had positioned Artifact as the vanguard of its return to game development. Artifact represents the largest discrepancy between our expectations for how one of our games would be received and the actual outcome. Artifact now represents an opportunity for us to improve our craft and use that knowledge to build better games.” “Moving forward, w

YouTube sensation Shirley Curry, also known as ‘Skyrim Grandma’, will be immortalized in The Elder Scrolls 6, Bethesda has announced. Curry will appear in the game as an NPC as the result of a fan petition, as revealed during The Elder Scrolls 25th anniversary stream. “This means a lot to me,” Curry says in the anniversary video (at the 8:40 mark), “because I would be extremely happy to know that somebody else was playing with my character in a future Elder Scrolls game.” Curry became an interne

The man who instigated a 2017 swatting that resulted in the death of a bystander at the hands of police has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. The sentence is double that of the ten years recommended by guidelines, according to this AP report, but was handed down as part of a deal in which 26-year-old Tyler Barriss pleaded guilty to 51 federal charges related to fake calls and threats. When Gaskill discovered that Barriss was trying to track him down, he provided an old address—Finch’s—and da

Ubisoft announced today that the upcoming historical strategy game Anno 1800 will be an Epic Games Store exclusive. As with Metro Exodus, anyone who has pre-purchased the game on Steam will receive it there. But unlike Metro, Anno 1800 will remain available for pre-purchase on Steam right up to the scheduled launch date: It will only be removed from Steam after that. “Sales of Anno 1800 will be discontinued on Steam after April 16th due to a publisher decision to make the game exclusive to anoth

Sekiro, the titular shinobi, has a special Shinobi Prosthetic arm that can be modified with all kinds of wicked tools. His name is Colin Furze and earlier this month, he partnered with Activision and FromSoftware to create functional versions of Sekiro’s very dangerous weapons. So far he’s only completed the Shinobi Axe of the Monkey and the Iron Fortress tools, but both are incredibly impressive to watch in action. The Iron Fortress shield is less impressive to me—if only because making a shiel

The Logitech G610 is a bit old at this point, as it came out in early 2016, but it’s still a great all-around mechanical keyboard. For the rest of today (or until stock runs out), you can get it for just $59.99 on Amazon—a $30 discount from the usual price, and $60 off the original cost. The G610 is equipped with Cherry MX Red switches, per-key lighting, dedicated media controls, and macro support. There isn’t any fancy RGB lighting, but it’s a solid mechanical keyboard for the price. Some onlin

Hell Let Loose, the WW2-based multiplayer shooter that pulled in more than double its $100,000 Kickstarter goal in 2017, will launch on Steam Early Access on June 6.
