Frontier has a few parks to manage now, but it’s still giving Planet Coaster some attention, especially since it’s become a hot spot for spectral activity. Today the developer announced a Ghostbusters DLC pack—trailer above—featuring a new narrative campaign, themed rides, new scenery pieces, and banter from Dan Aykroyd and William Atherton, reprising their roles and Dr. Stantz and Walter Peck. Planet Coaster has just been shielding us from the truth: we’ve killed loads of people. The Ghostbuste

Valve has announced it will create a standalone version of Dota Auto Chess, an astoundingly popular custom game mode for Dota 2 developed by Chinese studio Drodo Studio. With the help of Valve, Drodo will develop and support a non-Dota Chinese version simply called Auto Chess, while Valve will work on the standalone Steam / Dota version. We ended up agreeing that we’ll each build our own stand-alone version of the game, and support each other to the fullest.” As for Valve’s Dota version of Auto

Just Cause is getting a movie adaptation with John Wick creator Derek Kolstad writing. I doubt there’s going to be much need to tweak things to get Just Cause to fit the action movie mould. “Just Cause 4 still taps into that need for reckless abandon that resides in all gamers, but its impact is softening,” he wrote. It’s the weakest of the series, so this probably isn’t the most auspicious time for a movie, but with Derek Kolstad involved there’s maybe a chance it could be watchable. The John W

I can picture myself in the back of a car, aged 10, playing a hell of a lot of Wobble Jump: a fully realised, retro-styled LCD game that has surely arrived from another dimension. You’ll remember LCD games, probably, if you’re over 30; if you don’t, they were essentially digital watches hammered into the shape of a handheld system, but where you could only play one game (so it better be a good one). Wobble Jump, a free game made by skilled pixel artist and developer castpixel, really captures th

Other factors have led to a sense that singleplayer games are in trouble: BioWare making a disappointing co-op game in Anthem instead of the singleplayer RPGs it’s known for, for example. The pervasive fear around the death of singleplayer games is likely more about where they’re going, though, rather than where they are right now—so let’s look ahead. Fable is reportedly returning in the hands of Playground Games, and like all Xbox games now, expect that to be on PC. If I had to predict anything

Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s public testing phase, originally planned for April, is now unlikely to kick off before E3. “Currently it doesn’t look like public flighting will begin prior to E3,” 343 community director Brian Jarrard wrote on Reddit. In an update at the end of April, Jarrard explained that making the changes for PC was a complicated process that necessitated some extra time. Mouse and keyboard controls, as well as the UI, was a priority, he said, but wasn’t in a good enough

It’s time to get back into the swing of things in Fortnite, meaning weekly challenges to rank up the Battle Pass. This week, that means hunting down three random large objects around the map. Here’s where to find an oversized phone, a big piano, and a giant dancing fish trophy. The oversized phone can be found near the northern tip of the river leading out of Lazy Lagoon, the big piano is north of the ruins of the hero mansion by Lonely Lodge, and the giant dancing fish trophy is just between Du

World of Warcraft Classic’s closed beta is now live, and it’s not quite how some players remember it being back in 2006. Blizzard has put out a list of 13 features that players are erroneously flagging as bugs, from movement speed changes to missing icons on the minimap—all are “working as we expect”. “The nature of WoW Classic sometimes invokes different memories for different players, and this leads to certain misconceptions for some about what is or isn’t working as intended,” Blizzard said i

One of the two studios making action-RPG Lords of the Fallen 2 has left the project after a disagreement over the quality of their work. CI Games, one of the co-developers of the original Lords of the Fallen, brought in New York-based developer Defiant Studios last year to give the sequel a “fresh start”. Defiant was supposed to rebuild the game from scratch but has now left the project, with CI Games claiming Defiant’s work wasn’t good enough. “The quality of the work was lower than expected by

According to Kotaku’s sources, Call of Duty: Black Ops 5 will be developed by Treyarch and released in 2020 following a “major upheaval” at Activision. While this year’s Call of Duty game—which we’re likely to hear more about before E3—is rumored to be Modern Warfare 4, previously Raven were the studio heading up the 2020 entry in the series, ” a Call of Duty game set during the Cold War”. Now that game will apparently be repurposed into a singleplayer campaign for a new Black Ops by Treyarch, w

Intel contends that’s unnecessary, but either way, its message is that the mitigations have a “limited performance impact for the majority of PC clients.” Because these factors will vary considerably by customer, Intel is not recommending that Intel HT be disabled, and it’s important to understand that doing so does not alone provide protection against MDS,” Intel says. The performance delta widens a bit, though in 3DMark, Intel shows just a 1 percent drop in performance. It’s in workstations an

It looks like gloomy assassin John Wick is returning to Fortnite. According to Lucas7Yoshi, the John Wick skin will have a slicker regular version, before he’s been shot by a hundred assassins, as well as another where Wick’s looking a bit worse for wear. Complete the challenges, like collecting 120 coins and winning games of Wick’s Bounty, will net you XP, back bling and a couple of mystery rewards. It’s not the first John Wick crossover in Fortnite, but it is a little bit odd. With John Wick 3

There are new crafting recipes, too, and you’ll probably need to venture out into the jungle to search for the ingredients. A trio of new characters join the game, including a little plant fella, while all players will get access to the eccentric inventor Wagstaff, even if they don’t grab the DLC. Don’t Starve: H
