Respawn Entertainment showed off a tiny snippet of its next title, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, at this year’s E3 in Los Angeles. Now that content is being made public with a 26-minute gameplay video. “We spent months going back and forth discussing the best strategy to release this content,” before settling on an abbreviated trailer and a private, hands-on demo for the press. Now, a few weeks after the show concluded, the team has elected to reveal the whole thing … with one caveat. Star War

The newest expansion, Island Living, is different, focusing less on a mechanic, and more on the feel of a specific place. Island Living drops players into Sulani, the first Sims 4 world built with the game’s new terrain tools in mind. Much like the previous urban-based expansion City Living, Island Living is centered around executing a core concept in as many ways as possible. The Sims is at its best when the mundane and the wild are married together, and Island Living excels at this. All of the

Games on the Steam marketplace can now be marked with a formally recognized “LGBTQ+” tag, following one developer’s query and efforts to make the classification available. How a game is tagged, particularly for smaller works, can be vital to its discoverability and success. While developers could custom-tag their games, Steam doesn’t grant hub page functionality to non-approved tags, which is why this was so important to Yitz and other developers. Having a lot of games tagged survival horror or

Loot boxes, in the form of Ultimate Team packs, are also a major source of revenue for EA’s FIFA franchise. “We do think the way we’ve implemented these kinds of mechanics is quite ethical and quite fun,” she said. Loot boxes, microtransactions, and pay-to-win mechanisms have come under mainstream scrutiny over the past year. Loot boxes have been likened to gambling, a comparison that Electronic Arts and the Entertainment Software Association dispute. Other nations, such as South Korea, China, a

This is the problem that the developers of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order at Respawn Entertainment have been working on for years. The creators of Sekiro and Fallen Order came the same conclusion: Sword-based combat is best with parrying. This is how Fallen Order combat works. I saw a small slice of Fallen Order, rearranged to convey how its creators want the game to work. Respawn’s Fallen Order team figured out a way for a Jedi to fight stormtroopers that isn’t boring.

Reservations for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland end on June 24. In order to keep Galaxy’s Edge running as smoothly as possible, Disney will introduce virtual queuing via the Disneyland app. To ensure groups enter the land together, the app will ask guests to link the tickets of all members of their party who wish to enter Galaxy’s Edge at the same time. A push notification will notify them when they can enter Galaxy’s Edge. Reservations for either activity will grant entrance into Galaxy

The first neutral beings in Apex Legends have suddenly appeared in the game. But it’s possible that these new creatures will become deadly later on, especially since it seems like they’re a possible tease for a season 2 addition to the game. Along with the Flyers appearing in-game, we got a very cryptic tweet from the Apex Legends Twitter account. Whatever the eye belongs to, the tease made it seem like some more creatures are headed toward Apex Legends in season 2. Respawn has also announced th

Kyogre is a popular and desired raid target in Pokémon Go. The Legendary Pokémon is the best water-type attacker in the game and is highly desired for most intense raiding teams, but luckily, it has a good handful of weaknesses. When taking on Kyogre, players should use grass- and electric-type Pokémon. Kyogre is tricky and packs a punch, so players should be prepared to use a group of seven people or more with counters to safely complete the raid. Once you get your Kyogre, the best moveset for

Disney CEO Bob Iger says Disney is bad at video games, but actually … is it? Disney wanted to publish a game to coincide with Who Framed Roger Rabbit, which was due in theaters in nine months. Rather than take on the full burden, Disney licensed out its IP for consoles and set WDCS to work on computer games and software. But the quality of licensed games was an issue, and PC games and edutainment weren’t exactly rich veins compared to the consoles. That brings us roughly to the present and to

During the star-studded Fortnite charity event over the weekend, Epic played a brief clip of a Fortnite cartoon that showed off popular skins as actual characters. That quality isn’t just due to Fortnite’s strong character design that lends itself well to a cartoon; Epic also deeply understands how people play its games. When you boot up Fortnite, the way to play is with a crew, not random fill-ins. But, speaking more seriously, this clip is a big deal in the larger world of Fortnite. Don’t be s

Since this is a stress test, it’s entirely possible that players could run into some issues when they attempt to log into Classic, but that’s the whole point.
