Smith also mentioned the return of the old Trials of Osiris game mode, Elimination (not Trials of Osiris itself). Smith mentioned that he has no doubt it will eventually find a “warmer” home. While we don’t have a timeline, it seems that Trials of Osiris will likely return to Destiny 2 sometime soon. Smith mentioned that players too often find themselves in very tight, contested matches for long periods of time or in a one-sided slaughter. Bungie will release Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and New Light

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes has a launch date on PlayStation 4 and Windows PC: Oct. 17. Travis Strikes Again varies from its predecessors in switching from a third-person to a top-down view, and paired with the lightsaber-like Beam Katana the resulting hack-and-slash gameplay is much more arcadelike. The PlayStation 4 and PC edition (launching on Steam) will bundle the main game and its post-launch DLC extensions, Black Dandelion and Bubblegum Fatale. Those add the playable characters S

polygon wrote a new post, Destiny 2: Shadowkeep will see reduced player numbers, damage buff changes, on the site GoGame.com 6 years, 10 months ago
Bungie is changing how damage buffs work in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, as well as the numbers players deal. Players can deal very high damage numbers because of the multiplicative buffs in Destiny. Well of Radiance adds a damage buff that stacks with 100 other effects to instantly decimate a boss. Instead they’ll keep the damage bonus of Weapons of Light — because the damage buff is more powerful — and receive the healing from Well of Radiance. However, Smith was clear that players won’t deal reduce

Tea Time is one of Fire Emblem: Three Houses’ best features, but you can’t pour a cup with just anyone. Hilariously, Death Knight is amenable to topics including equipment upkeep, evaluating allies, and gratitude. Death Knight hates it when you nod, though — but then again, most people in the game do. Yes, the player does ‘observe’ the Death Knight after getting a perfect tea time, though the camera doesn’t seem built for such an enormous character. I was surprised to find that Byleth doesn’t li

polygon wrote a new post, Epic: Fortnite’s mech was designed so casuals could finally get a win, on the site GoGame.com 6 years, 10 months ago
Fortnite players have been in an uproar since the start of the new season, which introduced mechs that are widely considered overpowered. Today, Epic defended why it’s not getting rid of the mech; and it’s largely for reasons you’d expect. “The mission of Fortnite is to bring players of all skill levels together to have a fun experience where anyone can win,” Epic wrote. “Brute encounters should feel like a unique engagement and not be the dominant experience during a game,” Epic wrote. In April

Invader Zim, one of Nickelodeon’s most bizarre and beloved animated series from the early 2000s, is back with a new Netflix special: Enter the Florpus. Nickelodeon brought back series creator Jhonen Vasquez for Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus nearly 20 years after the original cartoon aired on Nickelodeon. Polygon: Invader Zim is back. Invader Zim is a zany cartoon show full of screams and body horror — and it’s also chock full of anti-corporate, anti-conformist, anti-consumption, dare I say …

The historic Disney-Fox merger earlier this year meant that a number of Marvel characters, including the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, were once again reunited with the Avengers and other characters under Disney’s roof. That loaded realization, which could one day theoretically lead to X-Men appearing in Avengers films and vice versa, has most recently culminated in this important moment: The Russo brothers imagining which X-Men Thanos would have snapped in Avengers: Infinity War. It was a calcu

But Dicey Dungeons, a new game by Super Hexagon’s Terry Cavanaugh, caught my eye mostly because it’s overwhelmingly charming. Unlike deck building roguelikes that lean heavy on a grim aesthetic like Slay the Spire, Dicey Dungeons looks more like a Saturday morning cartoon or children’s book. If I have to roll a 16 or higher to activate an attack, that dice roll may suddenly get real tense. As I jump through the mental hurdles presented by some of the later characters, the upbeat and boisterous a

We’ve heard time and time again that video games are extremely hard to make — there are just so many moving parts. Sarah Arellano, who works for Volition, developers of the Saints Row series, had an idea for a scene in a game where a character takes something out of a purse. Animation: Does the purse need to move? After everything was said and done, the purse may not even make it into the final game, Arellano said. Instead, the game developers are thinking about other ways to make the scene work

No Man’s Sky Beyond presents some of the best and worst of VR in 2019, which makes it one of the most interesting releases of the year. The Epic Games Store’s latest update rolls out cloud save support, beginning with about 17 games and more to come later. Cloud saves are part of the latest monthly content update to the store. Of the 17 titles at the outset, many have been offered free to players since the Epic Games Store opened in December. Ever since television entered the home, TV and interior design have been linked. The houses and apartments we see on TV are instructive, inspirational, aspirational—and sometimes just fun to dissect and discuss. In Curbed’s first-ever TV issue, we look at the ways TV has influenced the interiors of our homes, from the marketing of a replica I Love Lucy bedroom set in the 1950s to the sale of Dynasty housewares in the 1980s. And no venture into design TV would be complete, of course, without a th
