pcgamer wrote a new post, No Man’s Sky update adds ultrawide monitor support to test branch, on the site GoGame.com 6 years, 3 months ago
(Image credit: Hello Games)Ultrawide monitor owners, rejoice: the latest update to No Man’s Sky’s experimental branch correctly scales the HUD and “other visual elements” for 21:9 screens, and also better scales the HUD for 4K. I can imagine flying through space in ultrawide feels brilliant, and removing the annoyance of a broken HUD could make it all the more stunning. The update, which will be tested via the opt-in branch before rolling out to the full game, also lets you customize your HUD sc

pcgamer wrote a new post, Retro roundup: Quake 4, Chris Sawyer’s Locomotion, Silent Hunters 5, on the site GoGame.com 6 years, 3 months ago
Last I’d heard of them was Singularity, a game I could love like a three-legged dog with a nice wonky face. If you’re after a classic Quake deathmatch, stick to the previous games—Raven certainly did, advancing the brilliant Quake 3 template in only cosmetic ways. It’s an accusation that loses its sting seven years on, with both games swathed in the pink mist of retro. Even improved with age, Locomotion is the crappy pistol in Chris Sawyer’s arsenal. pcgamer wrote a new post, Minecraft’s Nether is getting an overhaul, with new biomes and Piglin Beast mobs, on the site GoGame.com 6 years, 3 months ago
The Piglins won’t be the only new mob: they’ll hunt Piglin Beasts, which look like a cross between pigs and warthogs. They’re also hostile to the player, and gold won’t do you any favors with them. The Nether update, which doesn’t yet have a release date, also adds biomes to the underworld, two of which were shown off at Minecon. You can see Soulsand Valley here—the forest comes soon after in the same video. You can watch the full reveal of the Nether update, starting with the target block, in t

This week, after more than four years of development, it finally has a release window, albeit for Steam Early Access, where it will arrive early next year. Humankind has settled on an ancient planet called Nexus, and are at war with machines that were once their protectors. That, too, is real-time, with both gunplay and melee weapons as well as psi powers to give you the upper hand. The Early Access version will feature the first chapter of the story, which takes place in a “semi-open” world: ba

Survival game Conan Exiles will add mounts, mounted combat and a new leveling system for pets in a free December update, developer Funcom has announced. The teaser trailer, above, doesn’t give away much, but the devs have also shown the horses in action at TwitchCon, and uploaded short videos shot over the shoulder of players. (Image credit: Future Publishing)The creators of free, brilliant streaming software Streamlabs, one of the building blocks of a beginner Twitch setup, is being bought by peripherals giant Logitech for around $89 million. Streamlabs is essentially a one-stop shop for streamers: it lets you set up your stream, apply graphics overlays, customize notifications, and more. It’s not hard to see why Logitech was keen on the deal: on its website, Streamlabs claims 70% of Twitch users use its software. Lo

(Image credit: Gearbox Software)The latest Borderlands 3 patch has made vault hunter Zane much more powerful by boosting the damage of his skills by as much as 75%. Gearbox said Zane’s tools added utility, but struggled at higher levels. Its drone rocket damage has been increased by the same amount, and its Almighty Ordnance Rockets now deal a whopping 75% more damage. The update also nerfed Amara’s Guardian Angel, reducing its health restoration from 100% to 50%. For a list of the most broken,

pcgamer wrote a new post, See a full match of multiplayer Resident Evil spin-off Project Resistance, on the site GoGame.com 6 years, 3 months ago
Capcom’s next attempt at making Resident Evil multiplayer is Project Resistance, an asymmetrical 4v1 game created using the Resident Evil 2 Remake engine, and even featuring Mr. X. The above video is the first we’ve seen of what a full match will look like in play. It sure will get old fast if there’sthis much of his taunting in the full game, but a complete version of Project Resistance may well be very different to this early peek. Right now the video has 1,500 dislikes on YouTube versus 795 l

pcgamer wrote a new post, Borderlands 3 mods include trainer, lvl 50 characters, and one that turns it into Limbo, on the site GoGame.com 6 years, 3 months ago
Borderlands 3 has been out for long enough that a mod scene is starting to emerge. Early mods include the kind of thing you might expect for a Borderlands game—a trainer that lets you modify your stats and drop rate, as well as give yourself infinite health and ammo, as well as save files for various characters at level 50, and an intro-skipper if the tried-and-tested method of renaming the video files doesn’t work for you. What’s less expected is the mod—really just a reshade preset—that does a

pcgamer wrote a new post, Here’s some gameplay footage of the Minecraft Dungeons action-RPG, on the site GoGame.com 6 years, 3 months ago
Last year at Minecon Mojang announced an action-RPG spin-off called Minecraft Dungeons, a Diablo-like with voxels. This year’s Minecon gave us a closer look at it, with just over four minutes of gameplay footage. One of the players here has a wind horn that pushes enemies back, and there’s also wheat that summons a llama, which spits at enemies. There’s no mining or crafting of course, just a lot of whacking bad guys and collecting emeralds. Minecraft Dungeons is due out in 2020.

The Virtuoso might be the best looking wireless gaming headset out there. The HS 35 and HS70 are fine headsets but clearly Corsair wanted to make a statement with the release of the Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE. From the polished gunmetal finish to the tasteful use of RGB lighting on the Corsair logo, nothing was overlooked. It feels almost like a statement from Corsair that gaming headsets don’t need to look silly or need to scream ‘Yo, I’m a gamer.’ The level of craftsmanship on the Virtuoso rival

I’ve never seen Deadliest Catch, Discovery Channel’s long-running series about crab fishing in the Bering Strait. If I had to guess what it’s like based on the alpha demo of Deadliest Catch: The Game, it mostly focuses on someone hunched over a table staring intently at crab crotches. I begin the demo docked at a harbor where I look at a map and pick the most likely spot to catch those crabs. In the meantime, there are differences in the way male and female crab crotches look, which I tried to m

pcgamer wrote a new post, You can add animated icons to the new Steam library, and it looks awesome, on the site GoGame.com 6 years, 4 months ago
Those same fans have now discovered that the new Steam library supports animated .pngs, and they look coooool. If you scroll trough your Steam library, you’ll probably notice dozens of games that haven’t gotten updated vertical art (and some likely never will). But back to the point: animated icons. After spending some time customizing my library, it’s peppered with animated icons. But just to show what that looks like, I created a collection of all the animated icons I’ve added so far.

Call of Duty is one of the biggest and most successful videogame series of all time, and the return of Modern Warfare later this year is tremendously anticipated. Infinity Ward developers have thick skins, he said, but sometimes, “it can get to you.” One user said in response that Infinity Ward is effectively fanning the flames by not providing information on topics that gamers are upset about, like supply crates. Infinity Ward has been front-and-center in handling the complaints about Modern Wa

If you’re looking for a way to fill the hours while waiting for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to arrive, Xim’s Star Wars Doom mod might be just the ticket. It’s a Star Wars-themed mod for GZDoom that replaces the weapons and enemies, and also adds some interesting twists to the gameplay with Force powers like Push, Pull, Heal, and Choke. The mod eliminates hitscan weapons—those that impact their target as soon as the trigger is pulled, like the pistol and shotgun—in favor of projectiles across th
