pcgamer wrote a new post, Star Wars: The Old Republic finally lets you be Kit Fisto, on the site GoGame.com 6 years, 2 months ago
The Old Republic lets you play as a nautolan now, like the Clone Wars era Jedi, Kit Fisto. I made a Jedi, of course, but nautolans also get cool eye patches, effectively forcing me to also make a smuggler. (Image credit: Electronic Arts)There’s a bunch of neat additions with this expansion, not least of which are the new tactical items. These go in a new gear slot and augment your existing abilities, opening the door to new builds for every class. There’s more gear in general, of course, so you’

pcgamer wrote a new post, Take on a deadly monster in free horror adventure Zermatt: Zero, on the site GoGame.com 6 years, 2 months ago
So clean and crisp, and pretty darn authentic to the PC-98 (an old Japanese PC), to which this retro-inspired adventure game is hearkening back to. You’re trapped on a spaceship with a roving, xenomorph-style monster, who will devour you if you happen to be on the wrong screen at the wrong time. Elsewhere, Zermatt impresses with its retro aesthetic, which looks remarkably similar to screenshots I’ve seen of PC-98 games. I think you’ll enjoy it, if you’re a fan of those—just be sure to keep an ey

If you’re playing Disco Elysium already and aren’t worried about some minor mechanical spoilers, like the effect of certain thoughts you can equip in your Thought Cabinet, this deep dive into drugs is worth a read. Kurvitz also notes that the brand names on substances have no effect because, “Just like in real l

pcgamer wrote a new post, Doctor Who VR game The Edge of Time will be out November 12, on the site GoGame.com 6 years, 2 months ago
Piloting the TARDIS in VR? Yep, cool, sold on those big pepperpot weirdos as enemies. The Edge of Time is a VR adventure game being developed by Maze Theory and it features Jodie Whittaker as the 13th Doctor. After being pushed back from its initial release window of September “in order to do Doctor Who justice” they’ve announced it’ll be out on November 12 on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. But much as I would like to reverse some polarities and solve everything with a sonic screwdriver in a Doctor W

The remaining 1 percent who fall out of bounds of the designated next-day shipping zones will still get free standard shipping on “thousands” of qualifying items. That’s well short of Amazon’s free shipping offer for Prime members, which extends to millions of items. There’s no membership required for this, though the next-day shipping offer necessitates a $35 minimum purchase. It’s worth keeping an eye on what kind of Black Friday deals Best Buy ends up offering. The free shipping perk also ext

pcgamer wrote a new post, Doom 64’s official announcement trailer is a demonic blast from the past, on the site GoGame.com 6 years, 2 months ago
Doom 64 was confirmed for PC and dated for March 20, 2020 a couple of weeks ago, but you may have missed it because it came along with the news that Doom Eternal is delayed into 2020. So here’s a reminder, in the form of the official announcement trailer. It’s not the announcement trailer, really, because Doom 64 was released in 1997 for the Nintendo 64. Games like Blood: Fresh Supply prove that new games can successfully retread the ’90s, and while I’m eager to give Doom 64 a go, my curiosity r

The Raptor 27 supports AMD’s FreeSync technology to smooth out gameplay. One of the somewhat unique features of the Raptor 27 is the ability to tilt the display back 90 degrees. We have not tested this monitor, but right off the bat, we can tell some users will take issue with Razer’s pricing. If you’re interested in the Raptor 27, you can find it here.

The 8-inch floppy disk (also known as a flexible diskette or memory disk) first became available on the market 1972 and had a whopping 80 kilobytes of data—or 0.000008 gigabytes. But for the time, the 8-inch floppy disk was considered the most cost-effective “high speed, mass storage” device. Most active-duty Air Force personnel who are trained for computer work are trained to manage modern IT infrastructure. And of course no one stores information on floppy disks these days—except the Air Force

They’re not even PCIe/NVMe or M.2 form factor drives—the KC600 line unabashedly gives another go-round to the 2.5-inch SATA form factor. For gaming, there’s nothing wrong with that, and the best SSD for gaming can very well be a 2.5-inch SATA drive when factoring in the cost. Besides, with Black Friday deals right around the corner, prices may drop well below what Kingston is offering at launch. In most cases, there is virtually no perceptible difference when gaming between a SATA and PCIe SSD.

A class action lawsuit (PDF) filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta Division, alleges Equifax used the default username “admin” to protect a portal used to manage credit disputes. Same goes for the password—at the time of the breach, it too was still the default “admin,” according to the lawsuit. It’s certainly boneheaded, if in fact Equifax never bothered to change either the username or password, as the lawsuit alleges. According to the lawsuit,

One year later he was writing about the “physics-defying puzzle game” again, pointing out that now it had a Steam page with a release date of 2017. “The Art of Diablo” is a handsome-looking hardcover coffee-table book that’s due out November 3, and which—according to an advertisement for it that appears in the German magazine Game Star—contains artwork from “Diablo 1, Diablo 2, Diablo 3, and Diablo 4.” The announcement of the mobile-only Diablo Immortal only served to increase that frustration.
