The deep sea survival game’s weekend Steam sale lops 20 percent off its regular price—now £15.59/$19.99—with 15 percent of net developer profits going to sea life charity Whale and Dolphin Conservation. In her glowing 89-scored review, Pip suggests a “smattering of technical issues keep Subnautica from true legendary status, but only just”. At that point, she’d cl

  • Capturing a moment from Star Wars Battlefront 2’s Ewok Hunt mode is like staring at a low-lit snippet of an avant-garde film: A dark forest. Ewok Hunt feels like a Zombie server mod. It’s an approachable plunge into Star Wars nerd-dom, but it veers away from the grandiosity of Galactic Assault or Heroes vs. Villains. After a few rounds getting acclimated, Ewok Hunt delivers the same blast of simple fun as its brother modes. Ewok Hunt strips back extraneous fluff: no buzzing ships, no whirling he

  • Zotac has made some big graphics cards in its day. That was a three slot card, three fans, almost 13 inches long and five inches wide. But this… this must be the biggest graphics card Zotac has ever made. Let’s get a closer look:Have you ever seen a graphics card that big? Jokes aside, here’s the current PC business in a nutshell: even a fake graphics card has working RGBs on it.

  • Just Cause 4 definitely exists, and it’s definitely coming to Steam. We were led to expect as much thanks to a leaked Walmart document last month, but now an advertisement for the game has appeared prematurely on Steam. According to the former, clicking the advertisement only leads to the Steam front page, and there’s not currently a store listing for the game. It’s the latest in a series of pre-E3 leaks, most of which can be traced back to that bothersome Walmart list. Rage 2, Assassin’s Creed

  • Daikatana: John Romero’s famous bitch-botchBack before the turn of the millennium, John Romero proclaimed that he was going to make you his bitch. “Suck it down,” he added, presumably to ensure that we were all on the same edgy page. Opinions varied on the degree, but the general consensus was that the visual quality of the released game fell well short of what was promised in those “actual gameplay” demos. • When it released exclusively for PSVR earlier this year, Moss quickly proved itself among the best VR games available on Sony’s console. So it’s nice to see that the game is now available on Steam, and that it’s available for both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Moss follows the adventures of Quill, who must conquer a mysterious force in order to restore order to its collapsed world. Basically, you play as a giant bystander, who can help Quill manipulate the world in order to successfully traverse it.

  • Qualcomm is a San Diego-based company specializing in telecommunications equipment. As The LA Times reports, three of Qualcomm’s top executives recently left to start their own tech company, also based in San Diego, and they’re calling it… XCOM. What will XCOM specialize in, you ask? “Inventing and investing in wireless technologies to propel the next mobile revolution,” according to its newly minted site . Before they can get to that though, as XCOM designer Jake Solomon pointed out on Twitter,

  • Earlier today, NASA reported that its Mars Curiosity rover made some curious new discoveries on the Red Planet. Alas, still no aliens: the rover found some rocks—some billion-year-old rocks—containing “ancient organic material.” There was also mention of some “mysterious” methane fluctuations in Mars’ atmosphere, but I’m more concerned with the ancient organic stuff, which, it should be noted, does not mean ancient living stuff. I’ll tell you what comes from Mars: Hell. Hell comes from Mars, NAS

  • JJ Abrams’ production company Bad Robot has entered into a partnership with Chinese conglomerate Tencent to launch a new division called Bad Robot Games. The Hollywood Reporter said that Warner Bros. Interactive is also involved in the new company as a minority investor. Bad Robot Games will employ in-house artists, writers, and designers who will develop both “large-scale and indie titles” in partnership with existing studios. The report isn’t clear on how the pieces come together, but my guess

The game follows four exotic adventurers who are forced to take on the undead Witch Queen Seteki and her army of “mummified monstrosities hell-bent on terror.” It’s a shooter, but it also promises various sorts of environmental traps, secret locations, puzzles, and “ancient contr

Set in Sweden in the 1980s (Avalanche is based in Stockholm), it’s a vaguely Terminator-like tale of a world that’s been taken over by machines, and humanity’s efforts to survive against them. Here’s how it works: Symmetra’s beam is intended to be held down, dealing damage over time at a set interval. But by rapidly activating the beam, you can trigger its initial damage faster than it would tick by holding it down. “The results show that the beam deals chunks of 49 Damage every 4 Frames, equating to 735 DPS.” If this were employed in an actual match,

  • Now that 4K monitors with HDR support are starting to arrive, the question is, what do you need to run them? A beefy graphics card, for one, at least for gaming. However, you might also need to update the firmware on your GeForce graphics card, so Nvidia released a tool that will detect if that’s the case, and apply the update as needed. As pointed out in that forum, Nvidia’s tool doesn’t update your graphics card’s video BIOS, so you won’t see a change in tools like GPU-Z after applying it. For
