There are plenty of things to do in the cosy new Winterfest Cabin in Fortnite: you can open some Fortnite presents every 24 hours for two weeks, open a stocking every day to get yourself one of the new Fortnite Winterfest challenges, and shake off the wintry chill of battle royale by a log fire. Last time we checked in on definitively superb, free Doom mod Brutal Doom, it was releasing a definitive Gold version that was pretty much expected to be the end of the thing. But mod developer Sergeant_Mark_IV obviously couldn’t keep away from it, because they’ve released a cooperatively oriented mod called Meatgrinder Co-op. I’d suggest Slaughterfest 2012, though the Meatgrinder developer also suggests Speed of Doom as an alternative. It’s aiming to be beautiful co-op Doom that works on a toas

Star Citizen’s Squadron 42 singleplayer mode has a new “visual teaser” trailer. We haven’t heard much about Squadron 42 in the last year, other than the news of a delay, but it’s good to see that Cloud Imperium Games is making headway on the campaign component of Star Citizen. Finally, it moves to scenes inside space stations and craft. Here’s the trailer in fat 21:9 format for proper cinematic flair:Squadron 42 is the singleplayer component of record-setting crowdfunded MMO Star Citizen, a spra

It has everything a good videogame should have: Torches, caves, procedural generation, mournfully wailing children. Anyway, Goblet Cave gives you simple tools like torches, ropes, platforms, and ladders, then sends you down into a cave to find the titular Goblet. Along the way you’ll rescue lost children, collect rubies, and curse viciously when you miss the toss of a grappling hook. Each playthrough is procedural though, so you can do it a few times before you get a little tired of it. You can

If you somehow haven’t played the fast-paced first-person masterpiece that is the 2016 Doom reboot, now is a pretty great time to give it a shot. The game was already discounted to $6 for the Steam Winter Sale, but now it’s 50 cents cheaper from Newegg. That’s a whole 50 cents you could put towards other games! Just like the regular Steam version, all DLC is included: Unto the Evil, Hell Followed, and Bloodfall. That should be enough to hold you over until Doom Eternal comes out in a few months.

Shortly after the long-lost Destiny 2 guardian Saint-14 turned up in the tower, players noticed something very amusing: He’d take notice of anyone who approached him while wearing his helmet, a Titan exotic that was added in the Curse of Osiris expansion. He doesn’t seem to mind sharing, though—in fact, he suggests using it to prank Zavala, the stoic, famously humorless command of the Vanguard. But because of required reworks, it was marked to be cut, which is where Shuman got involved. This is

Remember the 2017 holiday season, when Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan dominated Twitch by sitting in front of a fire for ten hours? It returned in 2018, this time with a number of different “hosts,” including Kaplan, and in 2019 it’ll be back yet again. We write all the time about the best games you can play on PC, but the end of the decade is an invitation to examine which games have changed PC gaming itself. Not all of these games released between 2010 and 2019—following one of the biggest trends of this decade, some PC games have had tectonic effects on our hobby long after their launch day. Those years of angst over casual games now seem childish, and the PC is home to a more vibrant and diverse range of games than we could’ve imagined a de
