Bo answered with The Witcher 3—and while I’ve finished Geralt’s third outing myself, Noelgal’s Enhanced Reshade mod is enough to merit a return. A number of worthy visual overhaul mods already exist for The Witcher 3, but I reckon this is the most impressive one yet. Here’s some moving pictures:And here are some stills:”The Witcher 3 Enhanced is designed to offer you the most immersive and real Witcher experience,” says creator Noelgal on the mod’s Nexus Mods page. “It works with all lighting mo

The FIFA World Cup 2018 kicked off last week, and, to mark England’s first game against Tunisia this evening, Football Manager is on sale on Steam. With that discount, Football Manager 18 costs just £12.92/$17, which is a great price for a game brimming with stats, figures, players and, for the first time this year, dynamic personal relationships. In FM 2018 success in the dressing room affects success on the pitch. Each criterion is interlinked: winning games boosts Match Cohesion, which boosts

pcgamer wrote a new post, World of Tanks gets a Rocket League-inspired mode to celebrate the World Cup, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
When you think of World of Tanks, you probably think of a very serious tank combat game, full of very serious tanks. But to celebrate the imminent World Cup, the tanks are having a break from being serious. The tanks, for a limited time only, will engage in some frivolous recreational play in the form of Tank Football. It’s Rocket League with tanks, basically, and you might have played it when it debuted as a limited mode back in 2016. The thrill and competitiveness of Tank Football pulse-poundi

pcgamer wrote a new post, There’s an Unreal Tournament demake for Atari 2600 you can play in your browser, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
Unreal Tournament, as in the 1995 multiplayer first-person-shooter, has been demade for a new platform—the Atari VCS, aka the Atari 2600, a 41-year-old console. Fortunately you don’t need to have kept your Atari since 1977 to play it, as UT 2600 runs in an emulator or can be enjoyed right in your browser. This bleepy, chunky, 2D version of Unreal Tournament features capture-the-flag and deathmatch modes, can be played with a friend locally or online, and includes various classic pickups and weap

pcgamer wrote a new post, PUBG clarify misunderstandings about their use of store-bought assets, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
Eventually PUBG Corp.’s communications lead Ryan Rigney stepped in to explain things, talking through the creation of each of PUBG’s maps. That went so well that Korea decided to build a proper PUBG Corp. studio in Madison, Wisconsin for an in-house art team. Miramar came about as result of collaboration between the new, PUBG Madison team and the Korean team at HQ in Seoul. As our in-house art teams built Miramar, they began to rely less on store-bought assets, although they continued to use the

pcgamer wrote a new post, The Forgotten City is a popular Skyrim mod that could make a great game, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
My favorite Skyrim mods are usually ones that alter the flow of the game, or add more character personalizing options. The Forgotten City, however, does not shy away from new characters. As for why I’m playing a mod from 2015, a standalone version of The Forgotten City was announced at E3. In spite of all that tension, The Forgotten City should be a place of peace. The Forgotten City feels like an argument in favor of constrained locations, for how great open-world games can be when they focus o

pcgamer wrote a new post, OMDO is what happens when you turn DOOM into a Magic Eye puzzle, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
If you’ve never come across one of the Magic Eye books, then the picture above might just look like a random collection of dots. That’s what you get in OMDO, which is identical to DOOM except every frame is a random dot autostereogram (like the one above). Some people prefer going cross-eyed to see them in 3D, while some prefer going wall-eyed—OMDO caters for both by letting you switch between parallel convergence and cross-eyed convergence from the main menu. Again, if you’ve never tried to loo

pcgamer wrote a new post, Watch six minutes of Strange Brigade’s co-op shooting, supernatural puzzles and branching levels, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
In the midst of the E3 maelstrom you might well have missed developer Rebellion’s playthrough of Strange Brigade, its supernatural co-op shooter that’s due out in late August. But it’s worth watching: it’s got a decent mix of puzzles and hectic third-person combat alongside branching levels that encourage exploration. You and up to three friends will have a defined path to tread, and if you want, you can just play it like a straight co-op shooter, Rebellion says in the video. The levels will als

pcgamer wrote a new post, Watch a 25-minute disaster film set purely in Cities: Skylines, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
This 25-minute video, from YouTuber TDB Games, begins like a standard flythrough of a Cities: Skylines city build, albeit an impressive, sprawling one. And then the meteors start falling, and it turns into an epic disaster film. The introduction is arguably a tad too drawn out—the first ten minutes are basically made up of detailed shots of the city at work set to upbeat music. But I enjoyed them all the same, and they made me remember just how satisfying it can be to tinker with a Cities: Skyli

Maybe you remember a little Flash game published by Adult Swim website back in the day, something about slow-motion shootouts and a talking banana called My Friend Pedro? My Friend Pedro is back, and it looks even weirder this time. That kick’s new to this version of My Friend Pedro, and so are the ricochets. I haven’t ridden a skateboard since I was 17 but I’m pretty sure they don’t work like this. My Friend Pedro won’t be out until 2019 but it already looks impressive, like someone took the op

pcgamer wrote a new post, Fortnite is getting a stink bomb, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
Fortnite’s arsenal of grenades is set to expand with the addition of a stink bomb that unleashes a cloud of gas that slowly damages anybody inside. The item began popping up on the game’s update feed earlier today, and is listed as “coming soon”. It could act as a more powerful version of the smoke grenade, laying down a thick cloud to block vision while also damaging anyone inside. That wouldn’t surprise me: Epic removed smoke grenades from the game because not enough people were using them, bu

pcgamer wrote a new post, Deep Rock Galactic update adds new mission type, makes beards more glorious, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 4 months ago
This week’s update to Deep Rock Galactic, the co-op mining-themed horde shooter, was a beefy one: it added a new mission type, a new enemy and, most importantly, more beautiful beards. The new mission type is called Salvage Operation, and involves the clean-up of a failed mining expedition. You and your party has to salvage three robots, escort them to an escape pod, repair the escape pod, and then hold off waves of enemies as it awaits blast-off. The world is more dangerous, too, with new envir

A bunch of excellent 2K-published games—including Bioshock Infinite, Borderlands 2 and Civilization 5—are 75% off on the Humble Store right now. But if you fancy more than one, you can build your own Humble Bundle out of them: the more you buy, the bigger the saving. Four games is 83% off, and if you buy five you get a whopping 85% discount. Some of the most recent 2K games, including XCOM 2, aren’t on the list, but it’s still not to be sniffed at. Here’s the one I made, which includes Civilisat

The trailer for Hot Lava is something else. Hot Lava is what Klei have been working on alongside Oxygen is Not Included and new DLC for Don’t Starve. They’ve clarified that this is not part of Steam’s Early Access program, however. Klei don’t want this version of Hot Lava to go through all of that. It means Hot Lava will be available on Steam without being visible to people who aren’t specifically looking for it.

Fortnite’s Season Four is coming close to its finish, and clues pointing at the theme for Season Five have already started appearing. First there was a skull logo that began showing up on all the in-game televisions, and which resembled the villain’s lair, a new location near Snobby Shores. Inside the villain’s lair there’s a rocket, and a new holographic display suggests that it’s nearing launch. Or maybe people are just looking for an excuse to suggest that Moisty Mire is going to get bombed i

I remember when the internet was new enough that people could buy domain names before brands got hold of them, whether for a joke or for profit. It’s a bit harder to beat the brands these days, and yet some prankster has already registered theelderscrollsvihammerfell.com. I’ll let you check it out and enjoy the joke, such as it is, for yourself. We don’t even know for sure whether Hammerfell is where the next Elder Scrolls game will be set, although it’s a good guess. It’s codenamed “Old Man” and it “serves as an epilogue to the story in Arma 3’s ‘The East Wind’ and ‘Apex Protocol’ campaigns,” Bohemia said. Bohemia also said it plans to add its first bat

Klei Entertainment is selling its games for cheap on Steam right now, which means chunky discounts on turn-based stealth game Invisible Inc, co-op survival game Don’t Starve Together and rhythm-based roguelike Crypt of the Necrodancer. The Invisible Inc deal is the most eye-catching: it’s $4.99/£3.74, which is level with the cheapest it’s been. For that, you get one of the best stealth games around.
