pcgamer wrote a new post, Todd Howard on outsourcing future Fallout games: ‘I wouldn’t say never’, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Fallout: New Vegas is the best Fallout in the series. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, New Vegas may also be the last Fallout game Bethesda outsources for third party development. In conversation with The Guardian, company director Todd Howard says Bethesda is in a position now where in-house projects make the most sense going forward. “I wouldn’t say never,” says Howard asked about the nature of NV’s development. “For Skyrim Remastered, we had done some work on it but it was already pretty

pcgamer wrote a new post, World of Warcraft’s 8.0 patch is kind of a mess right now, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
But Patch 8.0, which lays the foundation for when Battle for Azeroth launches next month, is in a real bad spot right now, and players aren’t happy about it. When it released on Tuesday, Patch 8.0 introduced some pretty major changes. Of those changes, the biggest and most immediately noticeable is a “stat squish” that reconfigures the behind-the-scenes math of WoW. It’s a necessary change, but the stat squish has completely thrown World of Warcraft’s balance out of whack—especially for lower le

Due July 24, this coming Tuesday, GTA Online: After Hours rolls out the red carpet for partygoers and proprietors alike—including Grand Theft Auto 4’s Tony Prince, aka Gay Tony. “Los Santos is a city of bright lights, long nights and dirty secrets, and they don’t come brighter, longer or dirtier than in GTA Online: After Hours,” reads the Rockstar Newswire. pcgamer wrote a new post, OpenAI’s Dota 2 bots remove ‘significant’ match restrictions, move closer to human-level skill, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Last month, we wrote about how OpenAI’s Dota 2 bots are totally on some I, Robot shit as they aim to “beat a team of top professionals” at The International. Back then, the collective known as the OpenAI Five were working to set of tight restrictions. “Many people pointed out that wards and Roshan were particularly important to include—and now we’ve done so. “The OpenAI Five Benchmark match will be held 12:30pm Pacific Time on August 5th in San Francisco,” adds OpenAI. “The human team will inclu

pcgamer wrote a new post, Just Cause 4 teases ‘bigger, brighter and more beautiful’ world in new dev diary, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
From Phil’s five absurd things from the Just Cause 4 E3 demo roundup, I learned Rico can control tornadoes. This seems suitably On Brand for the action-adventure series, whose new engine is said to make number four “bigger, brighter and more beautiful than ever”. Naturally, then, he decides to destroy the wind cannons, redirecting the twister back towards his foe. The demo ends with the Black Hand base thoroughly destroyed—first by Rico and then by violent winds. As the demo fades to black, it’s

JulioNIB is best known as the GTA 5 modder bringing The Avengers to Los Santos. His player-made projects include Ghost Rider, The Flash, Iron Man, Dragon Ball Z, Thanos and The Hulk—the latter of which has now been upgraded to devastating effect. Without further ado, here’s the new ‘HULK v2 script’ in motion. The creator then explains how to activate the Hulk’s ‘Wall Climb’ manoeuvre, how to grab vehicles in mid-air, and how to perform the aforementioned pull-dude-from-flying-helicopter action.

Black Ops 4 is getting a Zombies mode, and some of it will be set on the Titanic. The trailer introduces the mode’s four playable characters, and from what I can gather the narrator Scarlett Rhodes is chief among these. There’s an older trailer here, which shows more footage of the same areas. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 releases October 12. There won’t be a single-player mode, but there will be a Battle Royale mode.

According to an ABC News report from 2010, homeless dogs in Moscow have figured out how to use the city’s labyrinthine subway system. Thankfully, there’s now a video game about the plight of Russia’s subway dogs, and it’s called Russian Subway Dogs. The trailer above serves as a mini-documentary outlining the plight of Russian subway dogs, while also providing a taster for what the game actually is. But if you must know, it’s an arcade game where you’ll be dodging lobbed bottles of vodka (incisi

Does the best gaming snack need to be crumb and grease-free, or should nothing be sacrificed in the pursuit of flavor? Those questions and more are addressed in today’s PCG Q&A: What is the absolute best gaming snack? The secret to a good gaming snack is cleanliness. The best snack to eat while gaming is your favorite snack, keyboards and squadmates be damned. For me, that means the original nacho cheese Doritos, though I’m good with just about any corn chip dipped in salsa.

Most notably, Ubi is not happy with one of the most popular operators in the game: Thatcher. Typically, the EMP is a surefire way to permanently disable any electronic on the defender side. In response, game designer Jean-Baptiste Hallé said that this is because the team isn’t satisfied with the way Thatcher is played right now. In general, we are not satisfied with the interaction of the EMP and electronic gadgets when this interaction is a simple destruction. By “too binary,” Hallé refers to a

But we’re still lacking in platform fighters like Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros., though Smash Bros. itself can of course be played on an emulator. DimensionsVS , an upcoming free-to-play fighting game unashamedly styled after Smash, wants to fill that space. One notable difference from Smash is the way DimensionsVS handles damage: dealing damage lowers opponent’s health from a starting 200. According to developer TeePee Studios, this is part of the reason DimensionsVS will enter Steam Early Acces

Frantically searching for a way to save the stuck Chappadoodle, Muselk remembers the curiously parked golf cart he saw at the canyon’s edge. His hope rekindled, Muselk carefully edges the golf cart over to the edge……but not carefully enough. Summoning every ounce of energy left in him, Chappadoodle positions himself between the tumbling golf cart and the cold, cruel ocean behind him. He means to stop the golf cart with his very flesh. Without hesitation I put myself in between the golf cart an

pcgamer wrote a new post, For the first time, Square Enix is releasing a game on Steam exclusively in Japanese, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Now, in what may be a sign that Japan’s PC audience is growing, Square Enix is taking a first step: releasing a game on Steam exclusively in Japanese, without it being region-locked to Japan. SaGa Scarlet Grace is launching on Steam on August 1st, side-by-side with its console versions. As pointed out by Resetera , this is a new move for Square Enix, and SaGa Scarlet Grace is probably a good game to test the waters with. The SaGa series is infamously complex, borderline impenetrable, and several

According to Steam, I have sunk 114 hours into Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition, on top of 61 hours spent in the “Classic” edition. A lot of that is probably AFK time but there is no doubt that I strolled slowly and stopped to smell the roses. Divinity: Original Sin 2 speedrunner AlmostPi, on the other hand, did not. The new record for speedrunning Divinity: Original Sin 2 is 24 mins 58 seconds. You can watch that run in all its glory (and in less time than it takes me to create a single

Fallout: New California is a Fallout: New Vegas mega-mod that introduces a totally new storyline complete with 12 possible endings and some 16,000 lines of voiced dialogue. “They have every legal right to [send a cease and desist order] without hesitation,” the Facebook post reads. Of course, those plans may be altered further if Bethesda or Fantasy Flight Games does go after the mod. Even so, it’s possible the Fallout: New California mod will have to change its name as well.
