No Man’s Sky has enjoyed a wave of positive Steam reviews following this week’s NEXT update. But a number of PC players have had issues with game-breaking bugs tied to what appears to be corrupted save files. Patch 1.51 was released today to address the corrupted save issue. These were tested on the No Man’s Sky experimental server, so those experiencing the corrupted save issues will hopefully find this solves their problem. Players can also submit bug reports here.

pcgamer wrote a new post, HTC fires back at VR naysayers, sheds light on Vive’s declining sales numbers, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
As far as HTC is concerned, VR has a big and bright future, even if the sales data seems to contradict its outlook at first glance. News of the so-called death of VR comes once a year and is greatly exaggerated,” HTC said in a blog post defending the Vive, and VR in general. A recent report by Digital Trends that focused on the declining sales numbers for various VR solutions, the Vive included, prompted HTC’s defense of the category at large. HTC’s rebuttal only focused on its own products, whe

On the off-chance you missed the announcement last week, this is a gentle reminder that Overwatch is free to play this weekend. And even though it’s only Thursday, that weekend begins at 11 am PT/2 pm ET today. And if you do opt to own the game when it’s all over, any progress you earn during the free weekend will carry over. If you haven’t already got it, you’ll need the Battle.net client and an account, which is also free. The Overwatch free weekend will come to an end at 11:59 pm PT on July 3

pcgamer wrote a new post, So far, so good for newly deployed 14TB HDDs in Backblaze’s latest reliability report, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
More recently, Backblaze added some 14TB HDDs to the mix, and those are off to strong starts as well. It’s still early to make any kind of definitive judgement, but of the 20 Toshiba 14TB (model MG07ACA14TA) it added in the second quarter, not a single one has failed so far. It’s pretty remarkable when you think about all the moving parts—Toshiba’s 14TB drives feature nine platters inside. Backblaze’s data also indicates there is little different in reliability between enterprise and consumer dr

pcgamer wrote a new post, Get an XLR condenser microphone with pop filter and arm stand for only $6, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Over at Amazon, you can score a condenser mic with a pop filter and arm stand for just $6 today. It’s a Floureon BM-800 microphone, and while we can’t attest to its quality, the user reviews are mostly positive. For $6, it’s worth taking a risk—if nothing else, you can set it aside as a backup, or just use the pop filter and stand. Without the code, the microphone bundle sells for $29.99, which still isn’t expensive. It has an XLR interface, so you’ll need an audio interface or DAC.

pcgamer wrote a new post, The long, tough journey of Dungeon Keeper successor War for the Overworld, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
It’s a spiritual successor to the likes of Dungeon Keeper 2, and it launched its final expansion in April—The Under Games. I was eight or nine when I first played Dungeon Keeper 2 and I was always hoping I’d see Dungeon Keeper 3 come to fruition. Plus, in the thirteen years since Dungeon Keeper 2, management and RTS games had evolved immensely. The Dungeon Keeper games have very strong visual elements that just make you think of the genre in a way that few other games do. For example, your dunge

pcgamer wrote a new post, No Man’s Sky gets wave of positive Steam reviews, half-price for limited time, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
And as Chris says, it seems that, two years later, the hype for No Man’s Sky is back. Compare these figures to launch day, when 15,875 Steam reviews praised NMS for what it was; while 18,663 did not. From now through 10am PST / 6pm BST, No Man’s Sky is half-price on Steam—selling for £19.99/$29.99, down from £39.99/$59.99. The former explains what it’s like to explore No Man’s Sky Next with three other people. The latter asks: Is multiplayer really what No Man’s Sky needs?

pcgamer wrote a new post, I found the most dismal No Man’s Sky planet where absolutely no happiness is allowed, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Even better than finding an interesting planet in No Man’s Sky is finding an interesting system, where the planets form something of a theme. It has two planets, one of which my ship’s scanner considers a ‘Paradise Planet,’ while the other it calls a ‘Forsaken Planet.’ Here’s a short video to show you what I mean:There are plenty of lifeless, airless, somewhat dismal planets in No Man’s Sky, but this one feels much different. I decide to feed one of the little crab critters scuttling around just

pcgamer wrote a new post, Beneath Overcooked 2’s charming wrapper is a brutal co-op romp, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
No game has produced more laughter mixed with yelling in the PC Gamer office than Overcooked. Overcooked 2’s biggest new feature, online multiplayer, breaks the series out of that shell. I was surprised that there’s even a public online play option, which matches you with whoever might be queued with you. Other than online multiplayer, Overcooked 2 mostly reads as a box of fresh, interesting levels, rather than a reinvention of the game. Some of the mid-campaign stages available in the incomplet

That’s the story playing out now with Devil’s Hunt, a new action game from publisher 1C Company and upstart Polish studio Layopi Games. “The game features a heavy storyline that brings you back and forth between hell, modern USA, and an ancient city,” says game director Michał Sadowski. Devil’s Hunt is intended as the first game of the series, and we want to put a strong focus on introducing the player to the game world and lore behind it.” The heaven-vs-hell setup translates to an arsenal of hu

Update: Denuvo parent company Irdeto has issued a statement saying that Voksi was arrested by the Bulgarian Cybercrime Unit, following an Irdeto investigation into Denuvo hacking. The Bulgarian Cybercrime Unit confirmed the arrest and confiscation of computer equipment in the statement, and said that the investigation is ongoing. Voksi disputed that characterization, however, saying that he “was not arrested,” but went to the police voluntarily to provide a statement. Now Denuvo has struck back

For this week’s Wednesday Q&A, we want to hear your favorite line of dialogue in a game, whether it be dramatic, comedic, or ridiculous. There’s a staggering amount of voice work, but I’ve gotta give it to “Monstrous size has no intrinsic merit, unless inordinate exsanguination be considered a virtue.” At one point an ordinary stop sign in the street pops up a dialogue box and a one-sided argument begins. in the middle of the road like a loony and if you follow this to the end, that’s where my f

Brig 12 offers an interesting mix of character class progression, tactical turn-based battles, and crew management, but it’s hampered every step of the way by free-to-play card mechanics that turn the gameplay into a repetitive grind. It’s a shame, because Brig 12 has several fun, clever ideas, like tracking bounties. But the single biggest issue is that Brig 12 is a pay-to-win experience. Brig 12 has all the dubious trappings of a free-to-play mobile game, with multiple bundles of Scrip availab

pcgamer wrote a new post, Owning a nightclub in GTA Online is fun, but keeping it successful is a little boring, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Samuel’s spent about six or so hours with the update so far, while Joe spent his one hour with it dancing to Solomun’s set. To set up your club, you just need to steal some equipment from a festival and pick up the DJ, two separate missions. Like how my motorcycle club is called ‘Motorcycle Club’, I’m disappointed I can’t call mine ‘Night Club’. As mentioned, the promotion missions are the main content in After Hours, and that’s how I’ve spent most of my time with GTA Online since the update. I

And now it appears Fortnite developer Epic Games is worth $8 billion. According to Bloomberg (via gamesindustry.biz), Fortnite is set to accrue $2 billion this year alone—and, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the developer is now valued between $5 billion and $8 billion. As reported by Tyler at the time, the Chinese internet company Tencent owned 40 percent of Epic Games back in 2013. Epic was then valued at $825 million, which, for the sake of perspective, was well overshadowed by

Boundless has been kicking around for a while now, in various shapes and forms. Formerly known as Oort Online, studio Wonderstruck renamed it Boundless in 2015, at the same time as it was announced for PS4. Its been in Early Access since 2014, but now an official launch is slated for September 11. As I’ve previously written, Boundless is a Voxel-based MMORPG which has fairly attracted a bunch of comparisons with Minecraft. “Rally citizens to expand your city, competing to become the capital of y
