  • In the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine there’s an interview with CD Projekt Red quest designer Patrick Mills, who discusses Cyberpunk 2077 and makes a few comparisons with The Witcher 3, which he also worked on. “Cyberpunk 2077 is a game about people with power at the top and people at the bottom with none”, he replied. On the contrary I think it’s one of the things that sets us apart […] Cyberpunk is an inherently political genre and it’s an inherently political franchise.” Here’s ever

  • As Ruiner’s creative director, Benedykt Szneider was responsible for a lot of that. In the finalized art Ruiner’s tone is complete, given the red-and-black palette of a moody teenager’s bedroom. • The best VR headset, the Oculus Rift, is $400, and to run the latest games you’ve got to shell out hundreds more for a VR-ready graphics card. That’s what YouTuber LowSpecGamer did, setting out to play some of the best VR games for as little money as he could. For starters, he swerved the Rift and the HTC Vive to pick up a refurbished Windows Mixed Reality headset for $160. The graphics card was where it got really interesting. By playing around with Windows settings, he managed to get Skyrim VR

  • If you haven’t read Chris’s piece on “social survival game” Grimmwood, then I’d recommend doing that now—it piqued my interest, but I unfortunately never got around to trying out the free open beta. I may not get a chance now, because it’ll be out for good on Thursday, August 2, publisher Headup Games has announced. In Grimmwood, you and up to 30 players spawn on a procedurally generated map and have to build a town together. Early Steam reviews were mixed, with some players complaining of the s

Darcy has his streaming PC, a relative beast of a thing that lives in a soundproof room in their office. Obviously when we work we’re at our desks all the time so stand-up desks are really really important to have. That’s another thing that’s super important, making sure I have everything ready to go. • Four and a half years after Lu-Mulana 2, a game about exploring and solving puzzles in ancient underground ruins, was funded on Kickstarter, its release date is finally upon us. It’ll be out tomorrow, costing $25 on Steam, GOG and the Humble Store, and developer Nigoro has released one final trailer (above) to celebrate the occasion. Eg-Lana is split into different zones, making up a “gigantic cave system” that Nigoro estimates will take 20-30 hours to explore. Nigoro says there’s no tutorial or

Rise of the Triad: Dark War Developer: Apogee SoftwareYear: 1994 (shareware release) 1995 (full version)The 1990s were a good time for videogame gore. They built Rise of the Triad on those bones (and it was later renamed Rise of the Triad: Dark War to differentiate it from the remake). Apogee improved on Wolfenstein in a bunch of ways, especially with the scale of their game’s destructibility.

  • I haven’t paid much attention to Jump Force since its E3 reveal, but judging by Luke’s time with it—where he smashed Naruto to a pulp with Goku—it could be fun. It’s a Shonen Jump mash-up fighter with characters from Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, Death Note and Bleach, so there’s bound to be at least a handful you like. Bandai Namco released a new trailer this week, which you can see above. It certainly looks the part: every attack is accompanied by a shower of sparks, a beam of light or a whirlwind
