pcgamer wrote a new post, Darkest Dungeon, Prison Architect, Figment are cheap in GOG’s weekend sale, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
GOG’s latest sale offers escapes to dungeons, jails and fantasy worlds this weekend. Most notably from now through Monday August 14, Red Hook Studios’ wonderful and brutally-challenging RPG Darkest Dungeon is on sale for £7.59/$10.73 with a 60 percent discount. When the cost is measured in sanity and blood, the most powerful lesson Darkest Dungeon taught me about adventuring is that it isn’t always worth doing. Elsewhere, this GOG weekend sale offers Introversion Software’s Prison Architect for

According to Variety (via Gamespot), Apple has ordered a straight-to-series comedy show from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia stars Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day that takes place in a game development studio. Not much is known about the show beyond its basic premise, but Variety says it will be a scripted comedy with half-hour episodes—similar to the It’s Always Sunny format. Sunny kicks off its 13th season next month, so I presume schedules won’t clash with whatever this new venture is. Throu

We had choreographed it in such a way so that Warbringers and the [Old Soldier] movie could be shown separately. Ion Hazzikostas, game directorIf we had our druthers, we wouldn’t actually reveal any of the story before the game was launched. Most of the fun in VR comes from moving around, whether that’s swinging swords in Skyrim or moving pieces on a game board. But if you’d rather play all your games with a standard keyboard or gamepad, this is a solid deal. The Lenovo Mixed Reality headset (without motion controllers) is just $99.99 at B&H right now. Since this is a Windows Mixed Reality headset, it can play just about every SteamVR game, in addition to VR titles on the Windows Store. You can buy the Lenovo Mixed Reality headset h

That doesn’t necessarily mean all swastikas, all the time, but a hard “no” will no longer be the default. “Through the change in the interpretation of the law, games that critically look at current affairs can for the first time be given a USK age rating,” USK managing director Elisabeth Secker told CTV. “This has long been the case for films and with regards to the freedom of the arts, this is now rightly also the case with computer and videogames.” The German Games Industry Association issued

pcgamer wrote a new post, Monster Hunter: World smashes the record for biggest Japanese launch on Steam ever, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 3 months ago
Monster Hunter: World is off to a roaring start on PC. There was no preload option for Monster Hunter: World, so that concurrent peak may continue to grow throughout the day as more people download the game. That number has already put Monster Hunter: World on the list of the biggest launches in Steam’s history; it’s eclipsed No Man’s Sky and Civilization 6, and sits below GTA5 and Fallout 4’s massive launch day numbers. For comparison’s sake, Final Fantasy 15, another big Japanese RPG, had a pe

The map will still feature plenty of nods to the old Hereford however, something that the developers hope will retain the “soul” of the map, while making it far more visually interesting. Hereford Base was the first map ever prototyped for Siege, and since then the game has shifted significantly, leaving Hereford behind. Nowadays, it feels clunky and bland to play on, in stark contrast to newer maps like Villa or Theme Park. Overall, these changes are so significant that it looks like the new He

The Core i7-7700K is a generation old at this point, but still plenty fast. It’s a 4-core/8-thread part with a 4.2GHz base clock (4.5GHz boost clock) and 8MB of L3 cache. As for Corsair’s Bulldog kit, this is a newer revision of the original Bulldog, which we took a look at in 2015. As long as you avoid doing that, you’ll hav

AMD is expected to flesh out its second generation Ryzen processor family with additional SKUs, specifically the Ryzen 5 2500X and Ryzen 3 2300X, neither of which have officially been announced yet. Lenovo has since removed the Ryzen 5 2500X and Ryzen 3 2300X designations, though not before Hexus.net could grab a screenshot. There are more details that

“I’ll admit it: our game’s weird,” says Matt Jackson, as I process the match of Deathgarden we just played. I think we’ve just found a way to package this weird emotional thing that creates not only moments, but very watchable moments. “I think the game is as much genuinely a game of psychology between the Hunter and the Runners,” says Senior Creative Director Ash Pannell. Rescues at the Blood Post can get the whole Runner team killed, if you aren’t careful. A smart, coordinated Runner team can

In tandem with its Summer Sale contest, digital storefront Fanatical has launched the Fanatical Assistant—a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox designed to help unearth the cheapest game deals. Likewise, the Assistant finds and applies coupon codes on Steam games, and identifies when they’re selling for less on Fanatical. Bethesda’s QuakeCon 2018 Steam sale kicked off this week, for example, which has 2016’s DOOM on sale for £7.49/$10. “Another great feature from Fanatical Assistant is the

Acer is getting serious about gaming mice and other PC peripherals. So serious, in fact, that it plans on spinning off its PC gaming and smart accessories business into a wholly owned subsidiary to capture a larger share of the market. This is not brand new territory for Acer, which has its line of Predator peripherals, and last year debuted an ambidextrous mouse and a new gaming headset. This is not a surprising move by Acer, given its interest in the PC gaming segment with its Predator product

If you plan on playing Monster Hunter: World (and you should, it’s great), heed this warning. There is a song you’ll hear almost immediately, and once you hear it, your life may change forever. It is transportative music that completes Astera, granting static NPCs acting as storefronts and crafting interfaces some semblance of life beyond twitching lips and tilting heads. As I try to pull away from Monster Hunter: World in the slow endgame grind, I’m called back in against my will by the gallant

Saddle up, partner:Above, Rockstar bills its ‘lawless frontier’ as a “living world that’s not simply open, but deeper.” Red Dead Redemption 2 is due on consoles on October 26, 2018.
