pcgamer wrote a new post, Windjammers 2 is coming to PC next year, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
Windjammers is basically an arcade take on air hockey that has two players chucking a magical cyber-frisbee at each other—and past them, ideally, to earn points. Announced today by Dotemu, Windjammers 2 will include new stages, players, power moves, and “enhanced gameplay mechanics.” For a more accurate idea of what’s in store—allowing for the fact that it’s more than 20 years old—check out the Windjammers tournament gameplay video down below. Windjammers 2 is expected to come out sometime in 20

IO Interactive and Warner Bros announced today that every location from Hitman Season 1 (Paris, Sapienza, Marrakesh, Bangkok, Colorado, Hokkaido) will be available as DLC in Hitman 2, and will be updated into parity with Hitman 2’s new missions—that’s with updated combat AI, new items, new difficulty levels, and so on. The missions will be sold as DLC in a ‘Legacy Pack’ (price TBA), but will be free for owners of Hitman Season 1 “without any additional costs” when Hitman 2 releases, according to

pcgamer wrote a new post, First look at The Waylanders, a time travel RPG inspired by Dragon Age: Origins, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
You’ll alternate between Celtic Brigantia, and the Middle Ages where Christianity has “supplanted” a lot of Celtic history. “Then when our main character travels to the Middle Ages, we will have to look for our companions and wake them up. They will be reincarnated in other people, and we’ll have to wake them up, but as they are in the middle ages. But they could be an important warrior in the Celtic period, then a housekeeper in the Middle Ages. “You need to solve problems in the Celtic period

Its free-to-play Early Access follow-up Radical Heights was an unsuccessful roll of the dice—one which led Cliff Bleszinski to shutter Boss Key Productions entirely. Now, Bleszinski is writing a book which will address the studio’s failures. “I haven’t done any interviews since Boss Key imploded because I needed to tell it in my own words, in my book,” said Bleszinski via Twitter. pcgamer wrote a new post, Space Hulk: Tactics release date set, gameplay trailer teases explosive combat, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
Space Hulk: Tactics echoes tabletop Warhammer and XCOM-style warfare. As outlined above, humanity is represented by the Space Marine Terminators—a genetically modified super army that yields explosive firepower. Billed as a “faithful adaptation” of the Space Hulk board game, SH: Tactics incorporates a card-based system that unfolds within the Warhammer 40K universe and offers its own spin on the classic formula. A robust mission editor, inspired by the clip-together nature of building scenarios

pcgamer wrote a new post, Darkwood, Acid Wizard’s brilliant horror game, is going cheap till later today, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
Darkwood, Acid Wizard Studios’ wonderfully terrifying top-down survival horror game, is on the final stretch of a weekend Steam sale. From now through 10am PST / 6pm BST today, it’s 40 percent less its regular price. I rate the new trailer for Darkwood , an upcoming top-down survival horror title from indie group Acid Wizard Studio, a “Mommy” out of 10 based on the inky shadows and surreal sense of unease. Launched last year, it’s now scarier still—and its use of light and dark and its ability t

pcgamer wrote a new post, Dying Light’s Bad Blood battle royale offshoot to enter Early Access next month, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
Dying Light: Bad Blood is battle royale for people who hate waiting, so reckons Joseph Knoop. Techland has now revealed its slant on the genre will enter Steam’s Early Access programme in September. “This is how Dying Light: Bad Blood came to life, a game based on these key principles: the freedom and fast pace of parkour movement, the constant threat of the Infected, and the creative brutality of melee combat. Techland explains Bad Blood will cost $19.99 at Early Access launch next month, but w

pcgamer wrote a new post, Space detective game 2000:1: A Space Felony is free to keep this week, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
Last year National Insecurities, creator of Disorient on the Murder Express, released a game about a clumsy detective investigating space murders. It’s called 2000:1: A Space Felony, somewhat confusingly. You’re sent to a ship called the Endowment to figure out what’s gone wrong, finding the bodies of astronauts and gathering evidence to present to an AI called MAL. It’s a game of floating around in zero gravity taking snapshots while MAL says funny stuff, and it’s pretty good. This week, to cel

pcgamer wrote a new post, Prey’s director says the final act was “too intense”, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
Raphael Colantonio, director and co-writer of Arkane’s 2017 game Prey, has been interviewed by Kotaku about his game’s famously divisive final act. As well as the ending itself, the build-up to it has come under criticism for being drawn-out, and introducing too many security bots. Colantonio told Kotaku that, “In this case, yeah there was definitely too much at the end, it was too intense, not only the security bots but there was some other stuff. In general, I think it was too intense, we were

The latest trailer for Shadow of the Tomb Raider is subtitled ‘Know Your Enemy’ and its 40 seconds depict the varieties of bad guy you’ll be fighting in the new game. There are Trinity troops who pronounce Lara in the American way, tribal warriors, and of course a variety of animals who will dismember her in brutal close-ups: eels, piranhas, and a jaguar. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is due on September 14. Our James Davenport had a play of the early hours, and he says its custom difficulty setting

To get the obvious question out of the way, no, these aren’t the working scripts for the show. These are scripts used in auditions, showing off isolated character moments, and won’t be part of the series when it finally airs. Two casting scripts from Netlix’s show based on The Witcher series have shown up on Reddit, and been confirmed as legit by showrunner Lauren Hissrich. Even if this was a final script and not one written specifically for auditions, it wouldn’t be anything to worry about. Her

pcgamer wrote a new post, The Long Dark’s final two episodes will hopefully arrive before the end of 2019, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
Hinterland Games is hoping to wrap up development on The Long Dark’s story mode by the end of 2019, the studio’s creative director Raphael van Lierop explained on the studio’s forums on Friday. The new editions of the first two episodes should offer a more open-ended experience, among a bunch of other tweaks. He says that he’d “like to wrap up development of WINTERMUTE by the end of 2019”, but that this won’t mean the end of The Long Dark. Andy really rated The Long Dark when it left Early Acces

The entire Zero Escape trilogy is also available in a bundle for 51% off, while 2016’s Zero Time Dilemma is 50% off. Both Zero Escape and Danganronpa figure into Hannah Dwan’s list of the best visual novel games on PC. “Zero Escape is grim, but the story is fascinating and well told. pcgamer wrote a new post, SSX and Resistance 3 are now playable on PC with RPCS3, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 2 months ago
We’ve covered the progress of PS3 emulator RPCS3 a bunch of times on PCG, from running a long-lost Yakuza spin-off to the likes of Red Dead Redemption. Now, the team has updated the world on its progress during July (as spotted on r/pcgaming). A bunch of PS3 oldies now work via RPCS3, including 2012’s SSX, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time, Resistance 3, Sonic Unleashed (oh no) and MotorStorm: Apocalypse. Nonetheless, I like seeing the project come along, and being reminded of the many unloved PS

There are many compromises that can be made to squeeze every last drop of performance out of your budget; buying refurbished components can be one of them, but there are some exceptions. Buying refurbished components can be a great way to save money that can be put towards other components, or simply to keep your build under budget. Sometimes you can find high-end parts at a fraction of their MSRP from retailers like Newegg or Amazon just because they are refurbished. Manufacturers do a pretty g

Jagged Alliance 2 Developer: Sir-TechYear: 1999Great moments in PC gaming are short, bite-sized celebrations of some of our favorite gaming memories. It’s the little things that often get the biggest smiles. Jagged Alliance 2 is a game of wonderful details. Not, as you might think, because it’s covering for some high-tech weapons plant or top secret Illuminati-style organisation. You don’t get high-class trolling like that in many games.

While Numantian Games continue work on the singleplayer campaign for Early Access RTS hit They Are Billions, they’ve also been sliding bonus stuff into the survival mode that’s currently available. The latest patch adds a new zombie type called the Infected Giant, a behemoth so big they’re marked on the minimap so you know not to expand in their direction until you’re ready to take them on. The giants only appear if you’re playing on Challenging difficulty or above, but for those players who’ve

Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark, a turn-based RPG being developed by 6 Eyes, is in Early Access now. After its successful Kickstarter, our writer Lauren Morton checked out how it was coming along back in March. She said, “Fell Seal’s current demo includes 11 story missions and the option to replay most of the maps as random encounters. The protagonists, by way of contrast, stray a good deal from the plucky heroes of the coming-of-age tale I expected to find.” Fell Seal should be leaving Early Access i
