Following the release of Monster Hunter: World on PC last month, Capcom has stated that Steam sales have “exceeded the company’s expectations” in its full-year business forecast. The game’s PC launch was eagerly anticipated, following its huge success on console, and didn’t disappoint—James certainly rated it. Monster Hunter: World takes you to breathtaking locations and lets you hunt down monsters—the clue is in the title—through a variety of missions, all of which can be undertaken solo or wit

Loot boxes in games could lead to problem gambling, according to a study by the Australian Environment and Communications Reference Committee. Participants who suffered a serious gambling problem were more likely to spend money on loot boxes, the study found. “These results support the position of academics who claim that loot boxes are psychologically akin to gambling,” reads the submission. The report suggests that loot boxes could act as a gateway to problem gambling, noting that loot boxes s

pcgamer wrote a new post, Monster Hunter World’s kickass armor sets inspire some amazing cosplay, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
In Monster Hunter World the Nergigante is an elder dragon who is covered in spikes. So of course, this being Monster Hunter, you kill it then skin it then wear all those spikes on your body. The Nergigante armor set has so many spikes it looks like it was designed by Games Workshop. Monster Hunter World’s armor sets are a big part of the game. His armor looks a lot better than the Jyuratodus it’s made from in-game, a blob-featured fish beast with a face only a mother could love.

pcgamer wrote a new post, Just Cause 4 is at its best when it gives zero shits about reality, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
With every new Just Cause game, the rules of real life get a little further away. By the second one, the grappling hook let you stick things together in ways that were impossible. New grappling hook mods, heightened simulation of destructible objects and mad weather are the things trying to keep Just Cause fresh this time. With Just Cause 4, though, a fuel tank becomes a weapon you send in any direction based on where you shoot it. It’s basically what I did with Just Cause 3, despite playing the

We don’t forget those who have wronged us in games, and we definitely don’t forget their methods. I can’t think of anything that equates to hot mechanical bullshit more than enemies with the ability to teleport around the map. From 2D Japanese fighting games, through Diablo’s dungeons and the corridors of BioShock’s Rapture, to the shared-world future of Destiny 2. voice lines, if not forcing you to completely stop what you’re doing to put out the flames. Despite a messy attempt with Windows 8, Microsoft was never able to kill off the classic icon-based desktop that most PC users know and love. The smart news is there’s a host of clever, useful, and possibly silly add-ons for Windows that push the desktop to the next level of functionality. We stumbled across the awesome Winaero, which is a complete Taskbar, desktop, menu, Windows, and more tweaking tool for Windows 7, 8, and 10 (image above). Linus Torvalds, the creator and principal developer of the Linux kernel, is taking a break from overseeing its development to work on correcting his “unprofessional” behavior towards others. Torvalds made the announcement in an open letter to the Linux community shared through the Linux Kernel Mailing List (LKML). In it, he acknowledged that he is “not an emotionally empathetic kind of person,” and that his rough attitude may have driven talented developers away from Linux. My involvement with t

Crucial’s MX500 1TB solid state drive has long been our top recommendation for builders looking for solution with a high bang-for-buck. It’s priced at $178, but if you apply coupon code KEY27 at checkout, it will chop $27.01 off the price. It doesn’t offer the same performance as an NVMe drive, but is plenty fast for most users. For the money, it’s also more capacious—you won’t find a 1TB NVMe SSD for $150. Short and sweet, this is one of the best SSD values right now.

The normal Xbox One controller is great for PC gaming, especially now that it doesn’t require a dedicated wireless adapter. The gamepad usually goes for around $50, but now you can get it for $39.99 on Amazon. There’s not much to say about the Xbox One controller; it’s comfortable to hold, and has textured grips. If you want zero latency, or your PC doesn’t support Bluetooth, you can use the included USB cable instead. You can buy the Xbox One controller on Amazon.
