Image source: TwitterGearbox CEO Randy Pitchford and his wife Kristy claim to have lost nearly $3 million to a man they hired as a personal assistant in 2014. But he also purchased a $591,000 home in a wealthy neighborhood in Frisco, donated $10,000 to The Trevor Project charity, and forged at least seven checks on Kristy Pitchford’s accounts worth more than $73,000. Martin got “better and better at finding ways of spending our money,” Pitchford said. But the Pitchfords appear to be his wealthie

pcgamer wrote a new post, XCOM designer Jake Solomon hints at ‘something special’ for the sixth anniversary, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
Believe it or not, it’s been six years, almost to the day, since Firaxis very successfully brought back the X-Com sci-fi strategy series with XCOM: Enemy Unknown. So October 9th is the 6 year anniversary of XCOM: Enemy Unkown, @gsdeangelis and @GregFoertsch you guys up for doing something special? In other words, it’s the top trio of XCOM execs just shooting the breeze, speculating idly about “doing something special” for the fans. Let’s grab lunch at the diner tomorrow and talk about it! But it

pcgamer wrote a new post, Watch Adam Driver play a bad Fortnite dad on Saturday Night Live, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
In case there’s any doubt that Epic’s battle royale behemoth Fortnite is a mainstream phenomenon, let Saturday Night Live lay them to rest. Driver, as WilliamMacTavish1972, comes under the tutelage of a pair of 15-year-olds, who of course are skilled in the ways of Fortnite. Here’s something I will spoil, though: The whole thing is tremendously unfunny. Driver plays it tediously straight as a stereotypical desperate-to-be-hip dad, and the closest the gag ever comes to subverting expectations is

pcgamer wrote a new post, Leather laptops are a thing now, apparently, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
It’s the Spectre Folio 13, and while we can’t speak to its aroma, it comes wrapped in leather. 100 percent genuine leather, that is, because you’re not going to buy a leather-bound laptop with that faux stuff—that would be just silly. This thing features “precise artisan-inspired workmanship,” whereas a faux leather laptop would be pretentious. Here’s a dramatic video showing it off:Before you rush out and buy one, you should know what you’re getting. This is not a laptop for gaming, as evidence

The quad-cored Core i3-8100 and the hex-cored Core i5-8400, to name just two, are incredible value propositions that we adored. Gigabyte’s Z370 Aorus Ultra Gaming 2.0 is a revision of one of its more popular mid-to-high-end line-ups, the Ultra Gaming. Compared to the basic Ultra Gaming, the 2.0 features an M.2 PCIe SSD heatsink as standard, and a new 11-phase power design, which helps reduce coil whine when overclocked or under heavy load. The Gaming 2.0 is a bit of anomaly in our testing suite,

pcgamer wrote a new post, Devolver announces marijuana tycoon simulator Weedcraft Inc, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
Devolver Digital has announced Weedcraft Inc, a management sim about growing and selling marijuana. Frankly, I found the video’s scattergun editing to distract from demonstrating how the game will actually work. “Would-be Mary Jane moguls will need to prioritize resources carefully as they manage the production and distribution of their weed. Weedcraft appears to take place in a 3D cityscape, where you can grow your independent drug empire from a garage greenhouse into a citywide network. I’m al

pcgamer wrote a new post, A brief taste of Call of Cthulhu shows cosmic horror promise, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
After the first three hours of Call of Cthulhu were over, I was pretty sure that I would be playing game. The plot appear to be what tabletop Cthulhu players might call a ‘purist’ adventure—you’re probably going to end up dead or in an asylum by the end. Call of Cthulhu is going hard on statues of monsters, spooky cultists, and unsettling dreams. That’s there, but instead Call of Cthulhu is choosing to focus on a horrid sense of place and gothic decline. Years ago, I questioned this game as a pr

pcgamer wrote a new post, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey let me tell this NPC what I think of her stupid sidequest, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 1 month ago
I was pretty surprised to hear this come out of Alexios in the opening hours of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but this game is surprisingly potty-mouthed. Even if I don’t like how level-gating lightly controls how I choose to spend my time in Odyssey, the dialogue choices around side quests show a degree of personality I didn’t think I’d ever see in Assassin’s Creed. As Shaun explores in his impressions after 20 hours, the game definitely lets you behave like a dick. It mitigates the sense of repeti

Take Symmetra, the builder/DPS hero whose now-retired ‘2.0’ skillset was derided as underpowered, overpowered or simply a headache to play around. Westbrook Smith agrees that Blizzard is too ready to disempower heroes that require more thought in response to violent reactions. Deyo feels, however, that Blizzard is comfortable with Overwatch’s current direction, and that the game’s engrossing breadth will only continue to narrow. “It feels like their background is more in line with traditional sh

Markos is charming, but this being Assassin’s Creed Odyssey—a game that whole-heartedly embraces conversation trees—you can still treat him like an arsehole if you want. I am playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey as a deadset arsehole, to the best of my capabilities. It’s worth dwelling on the conversation tree aspects of Odyssey, since it’s probably the biggest addition to this instalment. It’s very possible to be an arsehole in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. For the first ten or so hours, I didn’t feel

The big news from Minecon Earth 2018 was that of spin-off co-op game Minecraft: Dungeons, but it wasn’t the only announcement to come out of the convention. Mojang also detailed the next Minecraft update, Village and Pillage, which adds new NPCs like the librarian and the butcher, as well as new enemies called Pillagers and Beasts. Pillagers carry crossbows, and players will be able to craft their own to use against them. All of these features are on the way and you can try them in the Minecraft

Here’s what they wrote:”You’re a denizen of the internet so you know that trolls come in all forms. In the weeks since then, they’ve removed a bunch of game-shaped objects. I don’t think anybody’s going to be mourning the loss of games like MILF, Make Border Great Again!, Hentai Puzzle, Hentai Sokoban, or Hentai 2048. As usual with Steam, anyone who bought these games keeps their copy and can redownload them whenever they want, but they will no longer appear on the storefront. If you want to kee

Aside from Venice in Assassin’s Creed II,Black Flag’s setting is the only one I find exciting in Ubisoft’s third-person murder universe. The art is always great in these places, they just don’t feel handcrafted. That’s not a problem when much of your game is set at sea, and you travel by ship between islands and other biomes, with the occasional settlement like Havana thrown in. Black Flag offers a sense of real exploration, inspired perhaps by the best 3D Zelda game, Wind Waker, which the serie
