  • Fortnite’s latest patch has broken free from Epic’s servers like an Arctic ice-shelf in summertime, bringing multiple new features for both Fortnite’s Battle Royale and Save the World modes. Foremost amongst version 6.01’s updates is the “Chiller” weapon, a common trap new to Battle Royale that will freeze the feet of anyone who it’s directed toward. The trap can be placed on floors, walls, or ceilings, and drops in stacks of 3 in treasure chests, supply drops, supply llamas, etc. In addition, F

  • Skywind, the ambitious project to recreate The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind in the Skyrim engine, has released a new trailer. The big question with Skywind, as with all of these madly ambitious fan conversions, is when is it coming out? Well, the trailer description reads “Soon, Morrowind will remember what it has forgotten,” which seems to hint that some form of release is near-ish. On the other hand, a comment from the Skywind team farther down the page implies otherwise. In the meantime, chec

  • Following the implementation of a new ban system for teamkillers, fans of Rainbow Six Siege have been pleading to Ubisoft to let players “forgive” accidental teamkilling. Any veteran Siege player is happy to see harsher punishments for teamkilling, a type of griefing that’s particularly painful in an FPS where players don’t respawn after dying. They’re definitely right about one thing: teamkilling in Siege is often an unavoidable accident. The Halo series still uses a forgive system for teamkill

In the talk Brode outlines five tips for game development that he says ought to be obvious, but sometimes go overlooked. You absolutely don’t need to be a game developer or C++ student to find this stuff interesting, as it’s all very layman-friendly. After leaving Blizzard, Brode was joined at Second Dinner by Yong Woo and Hamilton Chu, both of whom were also long

  • Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine is now available to buy digitally for the first time since it was released back in 1999. It was developed by LucasArts with the project headed by Hal Barwood, who previously directed the most treasured of Indy’s virtual adventures, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. The Infernal Machine was the first Indiana Jones game to adopt the Tomb Raider structure (a weird cycle given Tomb Raider’s own debt to Indy). I actually owned the Infernal Machine when it

  • After Cooler Master’s coveted Cosmos II hit the market, we found ourselves waiting five long years to see the next iteration of the Cosmos. From our first glance at Computex earlier this year, we could tell the C700M represents the peak of Cooler Master’s evolving design philosophy. Evasion has a proper campaign with missions that can be played solo or with a friend (or stranger) online. • I was fully prepared to take a pass on today’s announcement of a “hockey legend” doing a promotional thing for the naval MMO World of Warships. Not that I have anything against World of Warships, or hockey, but “famous guy gets paid to say nice things” isn’t generally the sort of story that triggers the news alarm. But our theory has been strengthened somewhat by a tweet out of Bilkom, which partnered with CD Projekt on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in Turkey.
