pcgamer wrote a new post, What did you play last week?, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
Last week our resident metroidvania expert Shaun Prescott played Timespinner, which at first glance might not seem like much more than a homage to Symphony of the Night but then Shaun goes ahead and says “You can even climb the poison butterflies.” I’m glad Rocket League is still going strong, even if I haven’t played it for months myself. It seems like everybody’s got stuck into Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, even Samuel Roberts who described himself as “an Assassin’s Creed grump” before Origins tur

pcgamer wrote a new post, Watch a documentary about the new Leisure Suit Larry and see if it gets your hopes up, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
German studio CrazyBunch have taken on the task of modernizing Leisure Suit Larry by literally bringing him into the present day in their game Wet Dreams Don’t Dry, which yanks Larry from the 1980s and deposits him in 2018. A three-part documentary about the making of the new point-and-click adventure has just been finished, so you can watch the development team discuss the challenges they faced, their decision to give Larry a smaller head so he doesn’t look quite so much like a gnome, and desig

Electronic Arts producer Jim Vessella has been answering questions on Reddit regarding the Command & Conquer remasters they recently teased . However, in response to one question Vessella confirmed that “We will not be adding any microtransactions to a C&C Remaster.” “For example, would you want to see the C&C3 style tabs and unit selection sidebar in one of the classic games?” Balancing was a concern for several fans, who are worried that new versions of the classic games would be altered to ma

You’ll get the season pass edition, which means you’ll get access to the fifth and final episode when it finally comes out. The bundle also contains the Dungeon Keeper-inspired War for the Overworld and deep space survival game Osiris: New Dawn, which are worth a look. The cheapest Kentucky: Route Zero has ever been is around $7.50, so

A Fortnite datamine appears to have revealed the modes that are coming to the game’s ‘tournaments’ tab, which itself was accidentally revealed in a developer video from Epic Games this week. The tournament tab (see it at 0:20 in this video) will link to solo, duos and squad tournaments. The first solo and duos tournaments will be time-limited, while the squads tournament will be a weekly event that happens every Friday. The squads tournament is called Fortnite Friday Night, with the date simply

pcgamer wrote a new post, Future Paradox games will be easier to mod thanks to engine upgrade, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
Starting with next year’s Imperator: Rome—which impressed Tom in his hands-on this week—Paradox’s grand strategy games are going to be much easier to mod thanks to an upgrade to the engine the developer uses, according to engine team lead John Wordsworth. “Modders always ask us why we don’t give them the tools we use to make the games, but we don’t have any. People are the tools,” Wordsworth said. Half of our team is going to be building tools, going forward. Wordsworth plans to put all the new

pcgamer wrote a new post, Star Citizen raises more than $1 million in four days following alpha 3.3 test release, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
Star Citizen may not have a release date, but fans are still throwing money at it. In the four days after developer Cloud Imperium Games pushed alpha 3.3 to public test servers, marking the start of fan convention CitizenCon, it raised more than $1 million, which is nearly as much as it pulls in during some entire months. To put that in perspective, it raised a total of $171,582 in the previous week. That brings total crowdfunding to more than $195 million, and it could well hit the $200 million

pcgamer wrote a new post, Crime and cat mascots in 428 Shibuya Scramble, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
Apparently a lot of things can happen over the course of a single day in Tokyo’s Shibuya ward. In 428 Shibuya Scramble there’s kidnapping, unethical virology experiments, a hitman is on the loose, and also somebody’s got themselves stuck in a cat costume. You read someone’s story for a while, occasionally making decisions about how they should handle things, then hit a wall and have to switch to a different character instead. Other visual novels handle fast-forwarding better, but 428 Shibuya Scr

Ubisoft’s history-mocking multiplayer fighting game For Honor is about to receive an expansion called Marching Fire and you can watch a slick new trailer for it above. Some of the stuff that’s being added will be freely available for everyone, including the 4v4 breach mode that’s all about besieging fortresses, and a graphical overhaul with every texture in the game apparently being enhanced as well as better illumination and nicer skies. Those who pay for it will be able to unlock a new faction

pcgamer wrote a new post, Fortnite guided missiles temporarily removed after players report permanent invisibility glitch, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
Fortnite’s guided missiles have proved somewhat problematic since they were added back in March. Initially, they were too powerful, and Epic Games removed them for a full three months before reinstating them—only for players to discover that a missile’s turning speed was linked directly to the game’s framerate. Yesterday, Epic again had to remove them for repairs, seemingly because players found a bug that let you turn permanently invisible if you combined guided missiles with Shadow Stones. As

pcgamer wrote a new post, Crusader Kings 2’s Holy Fury DLC release date announced, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
Crusader Kings 2’s Pagan-themed Holy Fury DLC will be out on November 13, Paradox has announced. The expansion, first revealed back in May, is beefier than past DLCs, and covers a range of systems. The biggest changes are reserved for Paganism: Pagan leaders that don’t convert can instead reform their religion, leading it down a path of either destruction and war or peace and tranquility. Away from religion, Holy Fury will add new randomly-generated starter maps that are small and fractured, wit

pcgamer wrote a new post, Black Ops 4 emotes let you see around corners, Treyarch plans to tackle the problem, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
Specifically, if you use a third-person emote, the camera will pull back and rotate at will, allowing you to peek around corners. It could prove especially useful in the battle royale Blackout mode, letting you see far-off players while hiding behind a tree. The planned fix will create a new system that “disables free look and applies different camera settings” for emotes in competitive game modes, the developer said. The current system for emotes will continue to be used elsewhere in the game ”

Quake Champions has added a new game mode called Slipgate, an ultra-mobile Quake 2-inspired champion called Athena, and an Arcade, which will host matches with wacky rule sets that rotate every week. When hooked onto a surface, you can press and hold ‘F’ to start swinging from it, which gives you lots of options for getting around aerially. To counter her mobility, Athena has just 100 health and up to 50 base armour, to go along with her 320 speed. As for Slipgate, it’s an attack vs defense mode

Take a stroll through any one of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s city streets and you’ll be within a stone’s throw of a penis. Score: 42/100While this competition is fundamentally about just the artistry in these statued ding-a-lings, this one gets some extra points for creativity. Score: 64/100This statue makes it clear that Poseidon was pretty insecure about his body. It’s anatomically correct and even features a little pubic hair without making the whole thing look ghastly. pcgamer wrote a new post, Darksiders 3 feels under-featured and underwhelming after a few hours of play, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
Darksiders 3 feels like a throwback to the first game. I can feel Darksiders’ spirit in here somewhere, but the level feels empty. Darksiders has lots of dungeons, but particularly in the second game, there were outdoor areas too with a sense of scale and adventure. I really want Darksiders 3 to be good, because I’ve always had a surprisingly good time with the the series, and even ended up heading back into Darksiders 2’s DLC. Still, these few hours have put me back to ‘wait and see’ mode, even
