pcgamer wrote a new post, Hard drive reliability report instills confidence in 8-12TB capacity HDDs, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
What Black Blaze has seen so far is that 8TB, 10TB, and 12TB HDDs don’t fail as often as lower capacity drives. There are some caveats that go along with that finding, the first of which is the larger capacity drives have not been in use as long as some of the lower capacity models. In its latest reliability report, Backblaze notes a quarterly failure rate of between 0.38 percent and 1.29 percent for five different 8-12TB models, and a 0 percent failure rate for one of HGST’s 12TB models (HUH721

pcgamer wrote a new post, Discord Store DRM requires an internet connection, but offline mode is coming soon, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
I exited Discord and tried launching Bad North from its root folder, but when I did, it launched Discord first, and only launched the game once Discord was connected. I closed both the game and Discord, disconnected my internet, and tried launching Bad North from its folder again. Discord launched, but since it couldn’t connect to the internet, it simply spun on the connection screen and Bad North wouldn’t launch at all. There’s good news, though: a representative for Discord told me via email t

pcgamer wrote a new post, Battlefield 5’s German campaign mission is ‘not a hero story’, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
Battlefield 5 will feature a number of singleplayer “War Stories,” including one—The Last Tiger—that’s presented from the Nazi point of view. As franchise design director Daniel Berlin told Eurogamer, the solution is to make the characters face the consequences of their actions. But the German tank, as he said, “comes with the German perspective.” “You may deny the actions you made, but even if you deny them you have to live with the consequences. All actions have consequences, even in war, so t

pcgamer wrote a new post, Steam surpasses 30 million users in China, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
Steam now has more than 30 million users in China, according to Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad. “China’s State Council issued recommendations that will make it easier (and not as lengthy) for internet cafe’s and game companies to set up business in the country,” Ahmad tweeted. “It’s a positive sign to see the promotion of new gaming entity creation amid a tough regulatory environment.” That regulatory environment includes a freeze on new game approvals and an active crackdown on gaming that

pcgamer wrote a new post, Telltale’s Minecraft: Story Mode originally had an edgier T-rated sense of humor, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
When you think Minecraft and its audience of millions of children, you really think edgy humor and dick jokes, right? At the Sweden Game Conference this week, Buck talked about some of the troubles with Telltale, including the tone of Minecraft: Story Mode and Guardians of the Galaxy, which both had to be rewritten. “We often, at Telltale, after executive reviews, had to do 90 per cent rewrites of the game,” said Buck in her talk, according to GamesIndustry.biz. In Minecraft’s case, it seems the

pcgamer wrote a new post, Newegg is having a cash back sale, get 15% back on almost everything, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
Newegg, for example, is running a promotion in which you can score 15 percent back on almost everything it sells. You have to spend at least $50, which is easy to do if you’re upgrading your PC. If you do that, Newegg will kick back 15 percent (up to $50) in the form of an electronic gift card, sent via email on December 1 to use up until the end of the year. This doesn’t apply to preorders and gift cards, but is fair game for everything else (more fine print here). By our math, Newegg’s 15 perc

RocketID, which will enable cross-platform friends and parties in Rocket League, was delayed beyond its planned September rollout so that developer Psyonix could “ensure that RocketID is operating flawlessly on all platforms before its release.” A new date wasn’t set at the time but the studio that more information would be released “when the time is right.” The time became right today, and while we still don’t have a release date, Psyonix has now confirmed that it won’t be out until sometime ne

pcgamer wrote a new post, Top StarCraft 2 cheats and easter eggs, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
StarCraft 2 cheats are great for blasting through the game’s singleplayer campaigns, whether you’re taking on Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, or Legacy of the Void. A word of warning before you start breaking the game: all of the following cheats will disable achievements for that campaign. These cheats don’t work in multiplayer. Applying unofficial cheats or cracks to multiplayer is a big no-no, obviously, and might get you banned from Battle.net. To use these cheats, simply press enter d

pcgamer wrote a new post, Battlefield 5’s singleplayer offers surprisingly fresh perspectives on World War II, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
Battlefield 1 had a surprisingly strong singleplayer campaign, splitting it up into several distinct ‘War Stories’ that teleported us from the mud-and-blood of the western front to the semi-mythology of Lawrence of Arabia. World War II is a different beast in the popular imagination, so it was always going to be interesting to see how DICE would approach the singleplayer campaign for Battlefield 5. That’s why it’s refreshing to see Battlefield 5 get much the same War Story treatment as Battlefie

What are the chances of Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to PC? The open-world western remains as yet unconfirmed on desktops, but we’re fairly certain it’ll appear at some point down the line. With this in mind, have a swatch at its launch trailer above. As we learned earlier this week, Red Dead Redemption 2 is 60 hours long and it seems its online component is still being written. In an interview with Vulture, the developer’s Dan Houser also made mention of developers working 100-hour weeks in-hou

PUBG’s latest PC-specific update—the 23rd since launch, for those counting—adds a new pistol, and tinkers with its blue zone’s visuals. In a bid to make it “less difficult to see through”, the blue zone’s opacity has been adjusted. Likewise, PUBG Corp says it has “mitigated an issue where the blue zone’s opacity difference was too strong depending on the map and weather type.” Elsewhere, PUBG’s PC 1.0 Update #23 adds an on-screen key guide function, which display dynamic key guides relevant to w
