pcgamer wrote a new post, Linus Torvalds returns to Linux with an ’email filter’ to quell his abusive language, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
(Image: © Flick via Alex Dawson)Just over a month ago, Linus Torvalds, the creator and principal developer of the Linux kernel, handed the open source keys to developer Greg Kroah-Harman so he could step away and “change some of my behavior.” Torvalds himself has not responded to the mailing list, though he did chat with ZDNet about his return and the new Linux Code of Conduct (CoC). He also talked about an email filter to keep his brass attitude in check. “I expect it to be a continuing process

pcgamer wrote a new post, Survival game Green Hell made me so mad I pummeled an innocent armadillo, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
This is Green Hell, an Early Access first-person survival game that feels a lot like The Forest only it’s set in the rain forests of the Amazon. I like a lot of things about Green Hell immediately. Green Hell has put you on notice. Green Hell, in other words, is pretty brutal, just as it should be given its setting. And the Amazon of Green Hell is quite lovely, especially in the valley.

pcgamer wrote a new post, This Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Kassandra cosplay is absolutely stunning, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
On first glance, I actually thought this cosplay of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s Kassandra was an immaculate, high-res digital render. I had to do a double-take to confirm that no, that’s an actual human being in one hell of a costume. Cosplayer Skunk from Skunk & Weasel got all Roman’d up in a Kassandra outfit that’s game-accurate, although to my eye, the real thing looks even better and more detailed than the digital inspiration. 250 hours to finish,” Skunk wrote in a Facebook comment for one of

pcgamer wrote a new post, Mosh Pit Simulator is a weird VR physics sandbox starring boneless humanoids, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
Mosh Pit Simulator is a VR sandbox game with boneless humanoids and weird physics. Set in “1 square km of interactive city” filled with these so-called boneless humanoids, there doesn’t appear to be much of a goal in Mosh Pit Simulator, other than to torment the boneless humanoids. The work of Sos Sosowksi, who Vice once described as a specialist in “Really Bad Video Games”, Mosh Pit Simulator lets you build rockets, explosives and engines – all of which you’ll use to hurt these innocent boneles

pcgamer wrote a new post, Corsair Crystal 280X RGB case review, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
So, when a new microATX case launches from the Californian giant, you can bet your backside we’re on the scene to review it first. The Crystal 280X is very much a revision of one of that small group. With added tempered glass now adorning the front panel, roof, and side, there’s no denying how classy it looks. Speaking of cooling, as standard the 280X comes with two 120mm RGB fans, one mounted in the front, and one in the roof, connected to an RGB controller unit in the back of the case. Paltry

pcgamer wrote a new post, Intel refutes reports that it’s ending work on 10nm, say it’s making ‘good progress’, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
According to the article, “Intel just pulled the plug on their struggling 10nm process,” which it goes on to say is the “right thing to do.” I reached out to Intel on the matter and was told point blank that the reports are “untrue.” Intel also referred me to a Twitter post saying essentially the same thing, adding that it’s “making good progress on 10nm” and that “yields are improving.” Media reports published today that Intel is ending work on the 10nm process are untrue. The only 10nm chip fr

Samsung on Monday launched the HMD Odyssey+, an upgraded version of its original Odyssey mixed reality headset with an improved display designed to reduce dizziness and nausea. However, Samsung is touting an improved display technology that purportedly reduces pattern noise for a “perceived PPI of 1,233.” Unlike sitting a few feet away from a PC monitor, VR and mixed reality headsets cram the displays just a few inches away from your eyeballs. Samsung is claiming it’s figured out a way around th

Tickrate, simply put, is the speed at which a game server processes data and returns it to the remote client. That’s why Treyarch elected to dial back the tickrate, according to patch notes posted to Reddi

pcgamer wrote a new post, Silverstone found a better way to implement RGB lighting into this compact case, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
A little over a year ago, Silverstone upgraded its compact Raven-Z chassis with RGB lighting, because that’s what you do if you’re a case maker—you add RGB lighting to everything. The new RVZ03-ARGB is almost exactly the same as the RVZ03 released last year, except the RGB light strip in the front has been replaced with an addressable RGB light strip. What this means is you can now control each individual LED—instead of using the same color, you can use multiple colors along the RGB light strip.

We’ve longed praised Razer’s Deathadder as the best gaming mouse, and if you have the coin, the Elite model is all kinds of awesome. If you’re looking for something a little cheaper, however, Walmart is selling the Deathadder Expert for $37.50 today. From what we can tell, the Expert version is a slightly tweaked variant of the 2013 Deathadder (now called the Deathadder Classic). Call it whatever you want, it has a 6,400 dpi 4G optical sensor (more than enough for gaming), five programmable butt

Oculus co-founder and former CEO Brendan Iribe announced on Monday that he’s leaving Facebook for his “first real break” in 20 years. In late 2016, about two years after the Facebook acquisition, Iribe stepped down as CEO to lead Oculus’s PC VR team. It is possible that Oculus is continuing to developer a successor Rift headset, while the specific project that was in development was scrapped last week, as TechCrunch reported. Nate Mitchell took to Twitter to reinforce the message that Rift, and

pcgamer wrote a new post, Nvidia adds GDDR5X to its popular GTX 1060 line, on the site GoGame.com 8 years ago
Over the weekend, Nvidia quietly updated its pages on the GTX 1060 graphics card. As Tom’s Hardware notes, there are already four variants of the GTX 1060 in the wild: the commonly known 1060 3GB and 1060 6GB, plus a 1060 6GB with higher clocked GDDR5 memory, and finally a quirky 1060 5GB model that’s mostly seen overseas. First, Nvidia may have simply neglected to mention the option for using GDDR5X in the past on the GTX 1060 line. Regardless of where the GDDR5X support comes from, we should s

CD Projekt’s Witcher-based card game Gwent is set to come out of beta on October 23—that is, tomorrow. With the big moment finally (almost) here, the studio released a new video that breaks down the basics of gameplay. What’s really interesting about the Gwent situation is that CD Projekt basically overhauled Gwent earlier this year, nearly a full year after its initial open beta release. You can get a more detailed rundown of what Gwent is all about at playgwent.com. The changes to Gwent’s desi

MMO studio Trion Worlds has laid off staff following an acquisition by online gaming portal Gamigo, reports Gamasutra. “We can confirm that there has been a transaction involving Trion Worlds and its games,” Trion stated in a message posted in the Rift forums. Trion recently “reimagined” its 2013 MMO Defiance as Defiance 2050, which unfortunately “fixes little of what sucked about the original.” I’ve
