The widely scorned 1990s 16-bit mascot made an unwelcome return last year in the form of Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back, and now the edgy orange meerkat is back. While last year’s instalment was developed by Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams studio Black Forest Games, the 2018 Bubsy will be the work of Choice Provisions – the studio responsible for the Bit.Trip series. The game will also see the return of famed Bubsy universe characters such as Oinker, Terri, Terry and others. The Woolies Strike Bac

In recent weeks the games industry has been having an overdue conversation about working conditions, focusing on the issue of crunch. The culture of crunch doesn’t just affect big-budget studios. And I’m sure they will, because it’s in their best interest to keep that talent and nurture it.” Even self-managed indie developers remain at the mercy of timed commitments: marketing deadlines and game conventions count among these, as do crowded release schedules. Devolver work with indie studios all

That’s what makes this medium the most effective form of escapism, particularly in the following PC games. It’s a diverse, vibrant setting that feels truly alien, and the hand-crafted nature of the world means exploration is genuinely rewarding. It captures the desolation and loneliness of a post-nuclear world better than most games, including the cluttered, distraction-filled Fallout series. Skyrim is still one of the most enjoyable virtual worlds to just exist in for a while. The game is linea

Even more frustrating for early adopters, the complaints seem mostly centered on the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, which is the most expensive RTX card of the bunch. There are multiple threads related to GeForce RTX 2080 Ti issues on Nvidia’s own forums and Reddit. Digital Threads wrangled a bunch of them, noting that users have been complaining about dead and dying cards for weeks, and that several threads have more than 100 comments detailing different issues. It was starting to seem like a *wink-wink-nudge-nudge* when Nvidia announced the pricing for its GeForce RTX series graphics cards, and in particular the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, which was supposed to start at $999. Well, EVGA has bucked the trend with its GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Black Edition. The Black Edition SKU (11G-P4-2281-KR) is listed on EVGA’s website for $999.99, making it the most ‘affordable’ GeForce RTX 2080 Ti available. Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store all kicked off their Halloween sales yesterday, and they all have really good deals on really good games. But if you’re in the mood for something a little off the beaten path, you might also want to take a minute or two to check out the “Halloween Sale Picks” over at Itch.io. Itch.io leans more toward fringier, “super-indie” games than the other platforms, so there’s not a lot to see in the way of big-budget stuff. But there’s still plenty of goodness to be had,

As a PC player who owns a PlayStation 4, the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 puts me in a very light bind. Personally, I would consider a snapshot of a place I haven’t seen in Red Dead Redemption 2 a spoiler. Your mileage on spoilers might vary, but if you’re waiting for a PC version, it’s going to be a goddamned minefield until Rockstar releases one—assuming it does. With Red Dead, I can’t help feeling like Rockstar will be better prepared for online from the start this time. Back to that fami
