pcgamer wrote a new post, The next Europa Universalis 4 expansion lets you become a pirate, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
Europa Universalis 4: Golden Century lets you break free from stuffy empires and gives you pirate republics to run, plundering the coast and robbing ships. Or, if you’re a narc, you can try to civilise the seas, fighting off the pirates and establishing order. Small island nations can choose to become pirate republics by picking a new decision, and historical events can also introduce new pirate republics to the map. Within the republics are different factions, like buccaneers and smugglers, and

pcgamer wrote a new post, Kenshi is a post-apocalyptic Mount & Blade that leaves Early Access soon, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
Kenshi, which first appeared on Steam Early Access way back in 2013, is as a peculiar and ambitious RPG. It’s leaving Early Access on December 6, 12 years after work initially began. It reminds me a lot of one of the greatest sandboxes and one of the best RPGs on PC , Mount & Blade: Warband. The Rust Boys are a band of junk robots and their mate, a small human called Bland. All the robots are just left to rust where they fall, but Bland, our human friend, is put in jail.

pcgamer wrote a new post, The Monster Hunter movie actually looks like the games in a new photo, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
The first pictures to come out of the Monster Hunter film adaptation were not particularly reassuring, with Milla Jovovich posting Monster Hunter set photos of her hanging out with fellow cast members decked out military uniforms. The latest photo, however, couldn’t come from anything other than Monster Hunter. It shows Jovovich as Natalie Artemis, this time no longer decked out in modern military gear, accompanied by Tony Jaa, who looks almost exactly like Monster Hunter: World’s Field Team Lea

pcgamer wrote a new post, Planetside 2’s new faction lets you play as a robot mercenary who will fight for anyone, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
After six years, Planetside 2 is getting a fourth faction. Nanite Systems Operatives don’t function like soldiers, however, as they’re robotic mercenaries who fight on behalf of other other factions. It’s an unusual addition, though the original Planetside did something similar, with developers occasionally putting players in a fourth faction that had more health and access to all the weapons. Something that’s worth noting is that Nanite Systems Operatives are lone wolves. Nanite Systems Operati

pcgamer wrote a new post, Walk on the skin of a god in Pillar of Eternity 2’s last DLC, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire’s nautical misadventures come to an end next month, lamentably, with the launch of the final piece of DLC, the ominously titled Forgotten Sanctum. It’s bittersweet, however, because this it for Deadfire—this is the last piece of paid DLC and, essentially, the end of this chapter of the Watcher’s journey. Wandering around a dungeon carved into the skin of a god sounds like an appropriately epic final adventure, but none of Deadfire’s DLC has really matched the scal

pcgamer wrote a new post, Steam now has Australian pricing, but lots of big games are unavailable, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
When it was revealed last week that Australian currency would be supported on Steam come November 21, the good news was accompanied by a worrisome caveat. If publishers and devs failed to update Steam’s database with a specific Australian price, their games would no longer be available to purchase for Australian customers. It’s now November 21 in Australia, and as promised, Steam is showing AU dollar prices across both its client and its website. Of course, if you’ve already purchased any game i

One of the originally-planned art changes to Siege. A few weeks ago Ubisoft announced it would make a set of small changes to Rainbow Six Siege’s maps and UI in preparation for localizing the game in Asia. Some Siege players were quick to criticize the move, with almost 1,500 negative reviews of Siege appearing on Steam three days after the announcement. Today Ubisoft reversed its plans for those changes, saying in an update on the Siege blog that the dev team will work to undo them in the next

pcgamer wrote a new post, Enter the Gungeon expansion plans scrapped, development ending after next update, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
“Working on Gungeon, in particular the last year of development, has become very taxing. Because of that, and a desire to put their hard-won experience to work on something new, the developers have hit the brakes on plans for a new paid expansion for Enter the Gungeon. As for the next project, it’s “a more ambitious idea than Gungeon,” but it’s also “at an incredibly, incredibly early stage” and so Dodge Roll isn’t revealing any specifics about it just yet. It did say that the foundations will b

Hello Games is preparing to roll out the third No Man’s Sky update for the year in the form of ‘Visions’. “Exotic new worlds make exploration more exciting than ever,” claims the trailer, while existing planets will be more “varied, vibrant and colourful”. But if rainbows are too nice for you, expect harsher environments and climates where “precious new materials” can be foraged. You’ll be able to dig for rare alien skeleton remains, and you’ll also be able to collect rare alien artefacts with w

The dark ages of WoW The Corrupted Blood Incident was just one of many disastrous moments in WoW’s history. Few moments are as memorable in all of World of Warcraft history as the Corrupted Blood Incident. Meek Hakkar, the Soulflayer, the boss from which corrupted blood originated, now transformed into a Hearthstone card. But here’s where it gets fun: Once that resolves, two copies of Corrupted Blood are shuffled back into your deck. Regardless of how viable Hakkar and Corrupted Blood ends up be

pcgamer wrote a new post, The 1.14 Fallout 76 patch allows unlocked fps and fixes speed hacks, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
You can read our thoughts on the game in our Fallout 76 review, but as a ‘living game’ there are likely to be many changes over time. For example, during the Fallout 76 beta, we were able to run some initial benchmarks to see how it fares on various GPUs. That created other problems if your FPS was too high, however, and anything beyond about 144fps would cause substantial acceleration to the game logic. Fallout 76 by default still runs with vsync on (iPresentInterval=1), running at your refresh

Videogames are good, and supporting charity is good, so with that established let’s turn our eyes to the Humble Jumbo Bundle 12, a collection of nine games and a couple of bonuses that begins with Pinstripe, Super House of Dead Ninjas, Super House of Dead Ninjas: True Ninja Pack, and Rise & Shine for as little as $1. Pinstripe is the one I’m familiar with (it’s good), but Super House of Dead Ninjas looks to be the big draw at this tier, with an “overwhelmingly positive” rating on Steam across mo

The end-of-the-world tactical adventure game Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is coming on December 4, and today publisher Funcom shared the lowdown on what sort of hardware you’ll need to play it. The system requirements are pleasantly light, and Funcom helpfully suggested that if your current rig can’t match up, “maybe now’s the time to look into updating your hardware.” And before you ask, there are a lot more people running 32-bit Win7 than 64-bit Win8, so yes, it’s relevant. The Wild West-style gunslinger Ashe came off the Overwatch PTR a week ago, and her debut hasn’t gone perfectly smoothly. “Currently, if you play Ashe on PC and have higher than 60 fps, the aim down site (ADS) animation can look choppy or ‘stepped.’ “In an upcoming patch, the ADS is smoothed out regardless of how high your fps is and should feel much better.” “Unfortunately, right now, the patch that it is fixed in is 1.32 (1.31 is on the PTR right now). FCC chairman Ajit Pai said as much on numerous occasions. Strangely, however, the FCC has not released a broadband speed report since Pai became chairman almost two years ago. There’s still time for the FCC to releas
