pcgamer wrote a new post, Civilization 6: Gathering Storm’s Hungary makes friends so it can crush enemies, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
Civilization 6: Gathering Storm isn’t just bringing foul weather and climate change to Firaxis’s 4X romp, new Civs are coming, too. Hungary is marching into the game with its leader, Matthias Corvinus, King of Hungary and Croatia. The Huszár, for instance, receives a combat bonus for every active alliance, making the unique unit a powerhouse if you’ve made loads of friends. When units are levied, Hungary also sends two envoys to the city-state, strengthening the alliance. The Black Army is Corvi

pcgamer wrote a new post, Fortnite now has more than 200 million registered users, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
Back in June, Epic boasted that Fortnite had 125 million users after only a year. Now it’s 200 million. That’s obviously not 200 million people all playing Fortnite, though certainly a lot of them are. Earlier in the month, Epic Games Korea CEO Sun Chul Park revealed that Fortnite had exceeded 8.3 million concurrent players. It certainly helps that Fortnite is now available on pretty much every platform, from PC to phones, and seems impossible to escape.

pcgamer wrote a new post, Fractured Space developer Edge Case Games joins Wargaming’s new MMO team, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
Wargaming has announced the acquisition of Fractured Space developer Edge Case Games. The team will be joining Wargaming UK to work on the studio’s unannounced MMO project. “Wargaming and Edge Case Games have been looking for a way to partner for years,” UK product director Sean Decker told GamesIndustry.biz. There’s no mention of Fractured Space’s fate in the announcement, but my guess is it won’t be around for much longer. Check out Chris Thursten’s Fractured Space review and mourn its impendi

pcgamer wrote a new post, Red Dead Online’s battle royale mode just gives you bows and knives, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
The first phase of the Red Dead Online beta kicks off today for the console lot, turning Red Redemption 2’s map into a crime-infested playground. The list includes various jobs, races and, yes, a battle royale mode. It’s not an entirely conventional battle royale, however, as weapons are restricted to bows or knives, depending on where you’re fighting. A cowboy battle royale with no revolvers sounds… bold. In one, Horley tasks players with hunting down a conman and outlaw on behalf of a Police C

pcgamer wrote a new post, Yakuza Kiwami’s PC launch is likely imminent, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
Yakuza Kiwami, which we already knew was coming, might be launching on Steam very soon. Yakuza Kiwami will join prequel Yakuza 0, which arrived in August. If you’re not familiar with the series, you’re in for a treat. They’re open-world action games and criminal capers, but couldn’t be further from the likes of GTA. Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the original game, elevated by Yakuza 0’s engine.

pcgamer wrote a new post, A brief reminder that the Steam Autumn sale ends today, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
The Steam Autumn sale ends today at 10AM Pacific. You won’t have to wait long for the Steam Winter sale, which a leak (that called the correct date on the Autumn sale) suggests is going to begin on 20 December. This is its usual discounted price. This matches its lowest discounted price. As an action game, though, I think Resi 6’s versatile range of character movements and melee attacks make it a bit underappreciated.

Artifact comes out on November 28, and we will have our impressions up the day before that, which is tomorrow. November 26 beta update notes:Features:Added

pcgamer wrote a new post, Dreamlike platformer Incredible Mandy comes to Steam with a free demo, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
Incredible Mandy is a lovely looking platformer-adventure about the dreams of a brother and sister, who must unlock the memories they hide following a tragic accident. That is an undeniably vague description, and you won’t find a whole lot more on Steam. “Can you pierce through the mist of dreams and discover the unexpected truth?” I’ve played with it a bit—not far enough to get into the underlying themes of loss and recovery, but enough to sample the systems and get eyes on the game world—and i

It’s Cyber Monday though, which means there’s still time to grab a monitor mount to free up some space. There are still some deals on single, dual, and even triple VESA-compatible monitor desk mounts, and even the ones that aren’t on sale are reasonably priced. pcgamer wrote a new post, Fallout 76 glitch spawns a gazillion robot butlers and gardeners, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
I just popped into the Whitesprings Resort in Fallout 76 to grab a screenshot of something, but wound up spending a lot more time there than I planned. As you’ll see in the pictures and video below, a glitch spawned a gazillion robot butlers and gardeners both inside and out. If you haven’t played Fallout 76, The Whitesprings is a big hotel (based on the real-world Greenbrier Resort) with lots of rooms and shops and a considerable number of robots patrolling the grounds and hallways. Alas, the u

(Content warning: The video above contains bits of the NSFW language you’d expect from someone who just fell out of a spaceship.) What was apparently a planned ship-to-ship transfer in Star Citizen went very wrong when the pilots involved learned the hard way that they were still within the grip of a planetary gravity well. He pointed his ship straight down, got on the gas, and after roughly 20 kilometers of hard descent and gentle maneuvering, was able to make a perfect catch. Star Citizen’s tr

The Beyond Marketplace’s digital books, such as the D&D Player’s Handbook, aren’t just copies of the text. The three primary 5th Edition texts are the Player’s Handbook, the Dungeon Master’s Guide, and the Monster Manual, and they’re each $20 right now, down from $30. And if you want to go all out, the Legendary Bundle for $384.

pcgamer wrote a new post, EVGA’s 3GB GTX 1060 is just $150 right now, an all-time low, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
This has been a great weekend to buy a graphics card, and there are still a few sales left. If you’re building a budget PC, the 3GB GTX 1060 is a good option—especially now that it’s just $149.99 on B&H (after a $20 mail-in rebate). That’s the lowest price we’ve seen yet for a 3GB 1060. This card has a base clock of 1607MH, a boost clock of 1835MHz, 3GB of GDDR5 memory, and a single-fan ACX 2.0 cooler. For display output, you get three DisplayPort 1.4, one HDMI 2.0b, and one dual-link DVI-D.

We some pretty strange things as we pick through thousands of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals . Now for the list of shame: deals so bad no one should buy them. These are the worst deals we’ve seen during this fever dream of a sales holiday. Intel Core i7-8700K, nice, nice, that’s good stuff. Epic has announced that epic and legendary variants of Fortnite’s notorious pump shotgun are on the way, likely with this week’s update arriving sometime between Tuesday and Thursday. Those details tend to arrive with the weekly patch notes, but if they behave similarly to the pump shotgun now while inheriting the promised shotgun buff, these suckers will have some kick. The way shotguns work now is based on a fixed pellet system. The upcoming 6.31 update will include a Pump Shotgun rebalance to

She was understandably disappointed, then, when The Elder Scrolls 6 was “announced” at E3 with the caveat that it won’t be out for many years yet. Thus, while the petition continues to collect signatures, wheels are also turning on Plan B: Modding Curry into Skyrim. The “Widowmaker” angle is maybe a little weird, but I love the idea of incorporating Curry into the game somehow. She’s a positive, welcoming voice on YouTube, and her Skyrim fandom is obviously beyond question. She knows a thing or

pcgamer wrote a new post, Everything changed between Return of the Obra Dinn’s demo and launch, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 11 months ago
Return of the Obra Dinn, Lucas Pope’s nautical mystery, began as a series of design puzzles. It predated Obra Dinn’s story and only featured four characters whose murders players had to solve. That change happened quite late into Obra Dinn’s design, Pope explained, and hammering out the narrative structure of the game proved to be tricky. A ship the size of the Obra Dinn would have had a crew of 120-200 people, which Pope realised he’d never be able to do. And even when the number was settled on
