Update: Capcom producer Matt Walker has claimed Hideaki Itsuno’s desire to leave the studio after DmC: Devil May Cry had “nothing to do” with the game itself. Original story:Hideaki Itsuno, director of the Devil May Cry series, wanted to resign from Capcom after DmC: Devil May Cry, according to the voice and motion capture actor for Dante. DmC: Devil May Cry released in 2013, five years after Devil May Cry 4. ‘”Itsuno’s “wishlist” included getting control of the Devil May Cry series for a new ga

pcgamer wrote a new post, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT’s free PC launch plagued by lag, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 4 months ago
The release of a free-to-play Final Fantasy fighting game on PC should be cause for celebration—but it appears 3v3 brawler Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Edition is being plagued by online lag, which is ruining it for most players. Free players play on the same servers as those who have bought the game. “The lag makes this unplayable,” reads one user review, while another says that “making this game rely on a random host for the networking is ridiculous”. Nearly all of the reviews—including the

People still have fond memories of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? today because it was a rare thing: An educational game that didn’t suck. I played it on a Commodore 64 about one million years ago and was excited to see the familiar red hat pop up again today. You can play a full game of it on Google Earth right now, chasing the international thief from London to locations around the world by interviewing witnesses and showing off your knowledge of geographical trivia and the colors of f

One of the cool things about Gwent is how great its art is, especially on the premium animated cards, constantly in motion and writhing around. It’s nice to see the latest trailer for its Crimson Curse expansion show off so much of this animated art, all gothic and blood-drenched. Knights charge, monsters roar, vampires wipe blood from their mouths. The Crimson Curse will add a bunch of new keywords to the collectible card game, like Bleeding, Assimilate, Berserk, and Deathblow, as well as new c

According to a recent leak the next legend coming to Apex Legends will be able to deploy launch pads players can jump off as an ultimate ability. These pads have begun appearing around the market area so you can test them out yourself. YouTuber Mokeysniper has gone all out with those tests, making a video that demonstrates every legend in the game launching off the pads and also shows off the other possible interactions. While Lifeline’s ultimate can’t be summoned on top of a launch pad, they ca

Far Cry New Dawn, to pick a recent example, contains nods to Splinter Cell, Assassin’s Creed, and the rabbids who have gone from enemies in Rayman to somehow become Ubisoft’s weird mascots. And now, players have found a reference to them in the new Rainbow Six Siege map as well. They’re painted on the inside of a log in the Outback map. I do have fond memories of that Wii minigame where zombie rabbids in scuba gear come out of the ocean and you have to fill their masks with carrot juice to drown

The latest is Pyre, Supergiant Games’ 2017 RPG-come-sports game, which is still worth playing today. The other new additions to Origin Access this month are Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast and adventure game Chaos on Deponia. Last month, EA added five Star Wars games. The basic Origin Access subscription also gets you a 10-hour trial of seven newer games, including Anthem and They Are Billions. The premier version, which costs $100/£90 a year, gives yo

Every action-RPG has low-level greeblies for you to demolish by the dozen, and in Warhammer: Chaosbane they’re Nurglings. These lesser servants of the god of pestilence are sacks of pus and vinegar with spindly arms and pointy teeth. I hit them with a shield charge, flying forward like a bowling ball and sending the wobblebelly brats flying apart. There’s a bit of Warhammer’s “grubby fantasy” vibe in the grotesque monster designs and architecture, but it’s also very classic action-RPG. Warhammer

The Sims 4 will stop supporting PCs with 32-bit operating systems in June, the development team has announced—but players with older systems will still be able to play thanks to a new Legacy Edition coming the same month. “We regularly evaluate our technologies, and to continue growing, improving, and optimizing the game, we have made the decision to retire 32-bit support,” the team said on EA’s website. Release is “tentatively planned” for June, at the same time as 32-bit support ends. The new

This is our attempt to nail that competition down: What is the least bad videogame movie? Christopher Livingston: Mortal KombatI guess I can’t say Edge of Tomorrow, which is too bad since it’s basically the best movie that is essentially a videogame. Steven Messner: Gamebox 1.0Y’all are cute listing your Resident Evils and Silent Hills, but clearly the least bad videogame movie is Gamebox 1.0. It’s so wonderfully awful that it’s so much more watchable than any other tryhard Hollywood videogame m

Anime brawler Jump Force will get three new characters in a paid DLC in May, and another three in a second DLC pack in August, Bandai Namco has revealed. On its 2019 update roadmap, the publisher revealed that May’s DLC would add Seito Kaiba, one of the main characters from Yu-Gi-Oh!, alongside two other fighters. The DLC will also add “avatar costumes/skills”. August’s DLC is the same deal, but Bandai Namco didn’t name any of the characters it will add. Hopefully Bandai Namco and developer Spik

“Kick doors, shoot bad guys” is almost everything you need to know about RICO, a co-op cop shooter that came out this week. You take on procedurally-generated, nine-stage “cases”, and you have 24 hours to complete each one. Kick in the door in, trigger slow motion, and clear a room full of thugs, defusing some bombs while you’re at it. It’s designed for co-op, both online and local, but you can play it solo if you want, and you’ll get extra bullet time to make it easier. The AI sounds pretty sim

Rhythm game Beat Saber, one of the best VR games around, has released its first paid DLC song pack—a collection of 10 tracks from Canadian electronic record label Monstercat. Up until now, Beat Saber players have slashed their way through the tracks that come bundled with the game as well as user-created custom songs. Some players aren’t happy about paying for their VR music, and developer Beat Games addressed those concerns in a blog post yesterday. Creating new levels for the game is an “extre

After collecting feedback and analyzing data, as it does, Valve has announced plans to tackle the problem by identifying review bombings, and excluding them from overall review scores. “Once our team has identified that the anomalous activity is an off-topic review bomb, we’ll mark the time period it encompasses and notify the developer,” Valve wrote. To be clear, this will only impact what you see: You cannot influence whether off-topic reviews are included in review scores for other people. Bu

The Apex Legends Battle Pass for Season 1 hasn’t shown up yet, but Respawn appears to have jumped the gun with a small piece of its content. The jump pad seems to be appearing around Market, a loot-heavy area in the middle of the map that’s prone to early firefights. I wasn’t able to locate a pad myself, but there are numerous images and videos on the Apex subreddit documenting the jump pads in-game. Octane may not be playable yet, but Respawn seems to be adding his pads around the map as easter

I’m reminded of it when I look at The Demon Crystal, a Japanese PC adventure game from around that same time. That’s pretty cool! The Demon Crystal was actually ported to the Nintendo Switch last year, but there’s something especially cool about seeing it arrive on Steam. It was originally developed for Japanese PCs like the MSX, and that’s pretty much all I know about it. The Steam page, in slightly broken English, claims “The Demon Crystal, produced in 1984 by YMCAT, achieved great success as
