It’s an extended look at some of the things we’ve already seen in the previous stream and a few things we haven’t, with Baldree cruising around the galaxy, picking up missions, blowing up pirates and customising his ship. The combat is shaping up nicely and looks quite a bit different from both its predecessor and space sims like Elite Dangerous. “The goal is to get rid of the constant, never-ending turning battles in old space sims,” explained Baldree. When you’ve got all the majesty of space i

Update: The bug that occasionally left archaeologists floating or getting stuck in walls has now been fixed. Original story: Heaven’s Vault, the moon-hopping archaeological adventure, finally has a decent fast travel option thanks to an update. Now, you can fast travel whenever you want, as long as it’s down a river you’ve already explored. When you’re in your ship, travelling down your plotted course, you’ll quickly be given the option to hand control over to Six. Unfortunately, the update intr

pcgamer wrote a new post, The secret City of Heroes server is now offline, but it’s not clear why, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 2 months ago
The superhero MMO City of Heroes went offline for good in 2012—or so it seemed until a week ago, when the existence of a fully-functioning private server that had been kept secret for six years was suddenly revealed to the public. But now that the game has been revealed to the public, it seems that the threat of a C&D has been enough to force it offline. As such, steps must be taken in order to protect the people involved in this project, their families, and their futures,” a message posted to t

pcgamer wrote a new post, Borderlands 3 will have a new elemental damage type: Radiation, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 2 months ago
In an ad for Borderlands 3 on Twitter earlier this month players spotted a shotgun with the damage type “radiation”. In previous Borderlands games there have been various damage types like explosive and slag, but radiation is a new one. The new “element” damage type, which is like a nuclear radiation effect, has a similar effect to slag (increased vulnerability by those affected) and also has a damage-over-time component.” In Borderlands 2 hitting an enemy with slag doubled the amount of damage

pcgamer wrote a new post, This Sekiro mod gives your katana elemental damage on-demand, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 2 months ago
If you’re playing Sekiro and wish you could infuse your katana with elemental damage on demand—like some of the bosses can—then modder ChoongJing has you covered. The Elemental Weapon Buffs mod adds five new items to the game that, when consumed, each grant you extra fire, divine, poison, lightning or Shura damage. The fire, thunder and divine effects are fairly straightforward, and add an extra chunk of elemental damage onto your normal attacks. It doubles all your damage output, gives you 1.3x

pcgamer wrote a new post, You can now play the terrible Sonic ’06 on PC thanks to this Unity remake, on the site GoGame.com 7 years, 2 months ago
PC gamers never experienced the horror that was 2006’s Sonic the Hedgehog, also known as Sonic ’06, which is considered one of the worst games in the series thanks to its ridiculous plot and bizarre level design. But dedicated fans have, for years, been determined to subject themselves to its torment on their favorite gaming platform, and one of them has just released a demo for a Unity Engine remake, titled Sonic the Hedgehog (P-06). YouTuber ChaosX first posted a video about it two years ago,

In a very wholesome Twitter thread where tabletop RPG players shared stories of the most impressive props they’d seen during a game, Josh Sawyer of Obsidian chimed in with the time he played in a Fallout game run by Chris Avellone during the Black Isle days. back at black isle, chris avellone ran a fallout ttrpg. each player had a massive binder that chris kept up-to-date with campaign info. Update: Avellone nicely shared some more of his “Paper prototyping” for Fallout. Van Buren was the cancel

The Mobility Mod adds wall-running straight out of Titanfall 2 to Half-Life 2. While a version of the Mobility Mod has been around for a while now, the modder behind it has now released a v2 that is also compatible with both of Half-Life 2’s episodic follow-ups. Among the changes are new melee controls, so you can perform rocket-boosted surge attacks and multi-target crowbar slashes. Using the surge attack in the air will even let you fly, at least for a moment. You can download v2 of the Mobili

Over on GTA Forums an eagle-eyed fan has posted a screenshot of a resume belonging to a 3D artist that listed, among other jobs, a position as a “Jr vehicle artist at Rockstar games”. The description of their work? “Create vehicles matching with real world for Gta5 dlc and upcoming Gta6.” Rockstar have yet to announce a sixth Grand Theft Auto game but considering how it sold it doesn’t take a genius to figure there’s a sequel in the works. The artist’s resume no longer mentions Rockstar as an em

Firmament, the next game from the creators of Myst, has entered the final week of its Kickstarter campaign, and is currently $350,000 short of its funding goal. Kickstarter funding goals are all-or-nothing, which means that if a project isn’t fully-funded the team behind it don’t receive a penny. On the Kickstarter page, the team says its funding goal “seems high”, but is actually “a relatively modest budget for the kind of experience that Cyan creates”. The funding is steadily ticking up, so it

This week’s tragic fire at Paris’s Notre-Dame Cathedral has inspired one No Man’s Sky player to recreate the iconic building in space—and the results are seriously impressive. The player, posting on Reddit as user 258100, built the model out of thousands of parts using Blender, and then exported it into the game using the Base Builder Plug-in for Blender mod. It’s just a facade, meaning you can’t explore inside, and the player says it’s “not great looking” if you view it from a side angle. But i

The developer of Rune, the Viking RPG that lets you use severed limbs as weapons, has secured enough funding for the game to skip its planned Early Access release, and will instead release the full 1.0 version later this year, it has announced. The game, which is a sequel to the 2000 hack-and-slasher of the same name, was supposed to release in Early Access this winter. But in a tweet yesterday, the development team at Human Head Games said that “through additional funding” they will be able to

It appears that players have been taking full advantage of Assassin’s Creed Unity going free for a week—so much so that the Unity servers were taken down for maintenance a few hours ago, in order to increase the server capacity. Earlier this week, Ubisoft announced that, along with donating €500,000 to help with the restoration of Notre-Dame, it would give away Assassin’s Creed: Unity for free, giving players a chance to experience the game’s faithful representation of the historic cathedral.
