  • It’s actually pretty close to that mark now, and the No Man’s Sky fanbase is doing something pretty cool to express its gratitude to Hello Games for sticking with it. our community has bought the billboard outside our office to say Thank YouOh. But the campaign is live now because the billboard has to be locked down well in advance of when it’s actually posted. “Billboards are booked months even up to years in advance, we were lucky enough to be offered a 2 week campaign within a 2 minute drive

  • The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing has been investigating allegations of gender discrimination, assault and harassment at League of Legends developer Riot Games. While the department’s investigation is looking into gender discrimination generally, the DFEH is currently trying to get access to pay information to analyse the wages of men and women at the company, to see if there’s a disparity. It says Riot hasn’t been cooperative in this instance and is refusing to provide th

In other words, a battle royale that looked like Fallout but didn’t feel much like it. But Bethesda really leaned into its existing game design rather than ripping it apart in order to fit a standard battle royale mold. As a result, Fallout 76 battle royale feels very different from other BR games out there, which is exactly what battle royale games need to do to stand out in an overstuffed genre. On the downside, Fallout 76 battle royale only has teams of four, no solo mode—though you don’t hav

  • The same can be said of me playing Baldur’s Gate. You can sleep almost anywhere in Baldur’s Gate. Sleep-scumming is the only way I know how to play classic Baldur’s Gate, and I refuse to play Baldur’s Gate 3 unless I can use the same trashy tactics that got me through the Nashkel Mines. It’s almost certainly not how Baldur’s Gate was meant to be played. But looking back, constant sleeping is an inextricable part of my Baldur’s Gate experience.

  • The Witcher 3 is by far the most successful of the trilogy, apparently accounting for more than half of the series’ sales. That puts it at over 20 million, an astronomical number for one game. It’s a lot, but The Witcher 3 doesn’t even scrape into the top ten best-selling games, and it probably doesn’t make the top 20, either. Minecraft, PUBG and GTA 5 are all far above it, with the first two both selling more than 100 million copies. The Witcher 3 in bed, on the bus or, because what’s life with

  • Control takes place inside the tricky, mind-bending Federal Bureau of Control—a stark, modern building without too many human touches. Judging by this E3 gameplay trailer from Nvidia, however, it will look a lot shinier with an RTX card. And someone has obviously splashed out on the most expensive window cleaner in the supermarket, because those windows are spotless. It’s becoming increasingly difficult for me to pretend I don’t care about ray tracing when I’m getting excited about reflections.

  • Secretlab has firmly established itself as a manufacturer of some of the best gaming chairs, and they’re celebrating Father’s Day with a sale on the excellent Titan Stealth (2018). Already listed at $50 off, this latest promotion knocks an additional $20 off when users input the code FATHERSDAY19. This brings the total all the way down to $329—a very reasonable price for a gaming chair, particularly one made of high quality materials and designed to be deeply customizable, like the Titan Stealth

  • Bungie confirmed in last week’s big Shadowkeep announcement that cross-save—the ability to carry one player account across multiple platforms—is coming to Destiny 2. Yesterday, Destiny general manager Mark Noseworthy said that Bungie is also very interested in implementing cross-play—enabling people on different platforms to actually play together—but that’s something for further down the road. “Stadia as a platform doesn’t make implementing Cross Play any harder actually,” Noseworthy tweeted in

  • If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to get into the world of high refresh rate gaming, this might be the deal for you. Dell’s S2419HGF gaming monitor (great name, I know) is now just $149.99 from Walmart, a savings of $150 from the original MSRP. The display is a 24-inch TN panel, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. An IPS panel would look better (and would be much more expensive), but Dell’s TN screens are typically very good. The refresh rate officially maxes out at 120Hz in that mode, so y

  • Several companies have already announced PCIe 4.0 SSDs, all of which use a Phison PS5016-E16 controller. Phison is already looking past its PS5016-E16 controller and is working on a new one that will support even faster speeds. Incredibly fast read speeds won’t have any noticeable impact on gaming, compared to existing SSDs. That said, just because a controller supporting 6.5GB/s read speeds will soon exist doesn’t mean that SSDs will immediately follow. However, given that Phison is aiming for

  • “It looks messy, but in that sense it’s a faithful sequel,” PC Gamer editor Phil Savage told me after his 20 minute preview of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, which you can watch above. Phil wasn’t actually playing the game, to be clear, but he got to direct the decision-making for the PR rep in control. The combat looks a bit rough in this early state—though I find the wildly ragdolling enemies endearing, as they’ve gone out of fashion—but again, this was a pre-alpha demo, and Bloodline

If Cyberpunk 2077 treated girls’ dicks as just another facet of life, it would be fine. • One of the weirdest parts of previous Watch Dogs games was how poorly it reconciled being a civilian-turned-hacker-hero who also was totally okay with casually murdering just about anyone. Watch Dogs 2 tried to rectify this by adding a paintball gun in a free update along with two non-lethal weapons added in a later paid DLC, but those options still left you with a limited arsenal. Thankfully, half of the weapons you can use in the upcoming Watch Dogs Legion will be non-lethal, according to its

  • Based on this fact, Dying Light 2 is either the worst game I could play or the perfect form of immersion therapy. There are a handful of big choices, and also there are a plethora of smaller things you decide that make each mission different. You’re just trying to save Frank, so it’s a completely different mission that happens. In the ensuing escape, I get a sense of Dying Light 2’s survival mechanics.
