  • It’s called Artifact, and it’s a… card game spin-off of Dota. I was part of the inner fanboy community to the point of even helping with long-running news concerning specifically Valve. We had to stop, though, because Valve isn’t doing anything worthwhile anymore to report on. There’s some clapping sure, but there’s a whoooole lot of disappointed “aww”s and even outright boos. Will Artifact turn out to be a fun game worth playing?

  • First Fallout got a tabletop strategy game, now it’s getting a proper family night board game. Publisher Fantasy Flight Games has revealed Fallout, “a post-nuclear board game for 1-4 players” and speaking as a long-time fan of all things power armor and super mutant, it looks pretty radical. In fact, the company brought us a splendid board game based on Doom (another Bethesda property) just last year. I also choose to believe that the hex-shaped location tiles are a subtle callback to the grid-b

  • Game of Thrones season 7 is really ramping up the stakes for our heroes, and everyone can feel the tension, knowing that our tale is almost at its end. And speaking of ends, poor Dany may meet hers after a betrayal from within her most trusted circle – if a certain fan theory is correct. The former two have seemingly come true (the death of Dany and Drogo’s son is blood, Jorah selling her out to assassins is gold) but the third has not. However, user goodguy_asshole (Reddit users really have the

  • Not surprising with John Wick co-director and former stuntman David Leitch literally calling the shots. Charlize Theron’s character, Lorraine Broughton, is a highly trained spy who can (and will) use anything to win a fight. I asked David Leitch what it was like to create the film’s action style, and how he managed to create such a brutally ruthless spy for Charlize Theron. For John Wick, “his style really is something that defines him, the precision, no nonsense. “I definitely think it’s time f

  • While Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus has already shown us that Nazis can’t get enough strawberry milkshake, the latest trailer for the game shows us – via a jaunty snippet of a black-and-white TV show – that they hate chocolate. They hate it so much that your mean big brother will rat on you just for comfort-eating your way through fascism with a couple of sweet treats. Once the sinister educational bit of the trailer is out of the way, we’re back on familiar ground with explosions, giant robot

  • Game of Thrones season 7 has had no mercy so far in killing off fan-favourites, and yet another seemed to have met their maker at the end of Game of Thrones season 7, episode 4. The grand rule of TV, though, is if there’s no body (even a sunken one) then there’s no death. Spoilers follow…Brace yourselves… Jaime Lannister is alive. Is a great soldier? That lack of past tense probably means we haven’t seen the last of Jaime Lannister.

  • The Field of Flames, the loot train attack, call it what you will, the Game of Thrones season 7, episode 4 end battle had a *lot* going on. The lovely souls at HBO, though, have helped us get even closer to the action by releasing an extended behind-the-scenes video of the greatest Game of Thrones season 7 battle yet. Australian retailer JB Hi Fi has revealed an exclusive (at least in Australia) edition of the movie which will come with a comic book and case styled after Spider-Man’s mask, as well the special features which will be present on all versions of the DVD / Blu-ray. • The Tower has fallen in Destiny 2 but The Crucible is still alive and well, if this new competitive multiplayer trailer is anything to judge by. The video is punctuated with enough impressive moments that I figured I’d go ahead and pull them out for rewatchable appreciation. • The big reveal this week actually dates back to season 3, episode 6, when Littlefinger told Varys, “Chaos isn’t a pit. Flash forward to S7E4, and Littlefinger’s meeting with Bran Stark. While using his silver tongue to convince Bran that he’s there to protect the Stark family, Littlefinger mentions the chaos of the world. Littlefinger is caught off-guard, but there’s more to it than just being surprised at Bran’s boldness. By the end of the episode, Bran gives the dagger to his sister Arya.

  • Say hello to the Canto Bight Police Speeder:The description reads, “Anyone attempting to escape the law on Cantonica had best move fast, as the police force of Canto Bight has at its disposal these swift, lightweight pursuit craft.” For those just catching up, Canto Bight is the glitzy casino city where the uber-rich party down – sort of like a classier Las Vegas set in the Star Wars universe – on the planet of Cantonica. • We were already buzzing to see Evangeline Lilly in action in Ant-Man and the Wasp but, holy hell, she’s out-Cabled Cable by giving us a ticket to the gun show. The Lost star prepares to begin filming for the Ant-Man sequel imminently – and she’s looking every inch the superhero. Lilly has taken to Twitter to reveal her chiselled new look and, judging by that picture, she’s going all-in on the movie’s action scenes. • Game of Thrones season 7 has brought its A-game with big battles this season but none have topped the fiery effort from Game of Thrones season 7, episode 4. Why Pompeii was importantDirector Matt Shakman told Variety that, for Drogon’s explosive attack, the team looked back, way back, for influences. “So we looked a lot at Pompeii as reference,” Shakman explains, “Which led to the idea of people just turning to ash in an instant. • A new update to the Xbox One dashboard will be rolling out to Xbox Insiders (see: beta testers) starting today, and it’s also the first chance for the rest of us to get a look at what’s coming for Microsoft’s console. Remember when the Xbox 360 first introduced Avatars and started laying its menu options out in a long, vertical list, with horizontal scrolling for each item? That’s the vibe I’m getting here, and personally, I’m all for it. That said, this is also the third big redesign of the Xbo

  • A new Star Wars: The Last Jedi promo image featuring the late Carrie Fisher has been released, and honestly, I don’t know what to say about it. The princess-turned-general certainly looks somber, with a low expression and dark-colored wardrobe. A new Last Jedi trailer is expected soon, with the full film coming December 15. I just hope that however Star Wars proceeds without its original leading lady, it does so in a way that honors her memory. Besides that… what else is there to say?

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was fearless in reworking or cutting established Zelda elements, which is part of the reason it was such a big success. as long as the world has its own logic on where you can expect tough enemies to be it would work, like in morrowind a daedric shrine = tough enemies inside and around it. Man, imagine a Zelda game where link dies in the end… that would be pretty dark. I honestly just want more BotW and I think if Nintendo just builds another Zelda game
