gamesradar wrote a new post, “I had things thrown at me” – Xbox designer on how the ‘Duke’ controller went from joke to beloved misfit, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
If you were even vaguely paying attention to the original Xbox back in the early ’00s, it was impossible to ignore the infamous “Duke” controller. Still, it was often mocked for its unwieldy design, and when Microsoft introduced the Xbox Controller S, the Duke was all but forgotten – until now. “It needed to be updated, to be somewhat modern,” Blackley explained. While bumpers have become standard for modern controllers, the original Xbox only had triggers in the back. On the one hand, it’s not

gamesradar wrote a new post, 5 questions I have after watching The Walking Dead season 8, episode 11 – Dead or Alive Or, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
A Rick-less episode of The Walking Dead is, conventionally, an eventless episode of The Walking Dead, and Dead or Alive Or, the 11th chapter to season 8, was no exception. Read on below if you don’t mind major spoilers for The Walking Dead season 8 so far, and see if you and I are asking the same things about Gabriel, Negan, and the rest of Atlanta’s survivors now that this week’s episode has aired. – The internet reacts to The Walking Dead season 8, episode 11Has Gabriel’s faith finally been br

gamesradar wrote a new post, Mass Effect’s Citadel held the trilogy together by giving you the universe to explore under one roof, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
It’s a testament to Mass Effect’s accessibility that I was instantly enthralled by its vibrantly diverse world. But even among the game’s many locations, one has always remained the concentrated essence of Mass Effect’s very spirit: the Citadel. Mass Effect’s world, with its cultures, themes and conflicts, is the very basis of its appeal, like the layers of a moist chocolate sponge. The location serves as a realistic way of bringing all the different elements of Mass Effect’s world under the sam

gamesradar wrote a new post, Alicia Vikander was thrown down an Olympic whitewater course 25 times without a life vest for Tomb Raider’s biggest action scene, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
It must be pretty fun being Lara Croft, right? Just ask Alicia Vikander. “That was probably the one scene filmed on so many different locations,” Alicia Vikander tells me. Lara Croft? So, Alicia Vikander pretty much sacrificed life and limb to bring us one of the best action scenes of the year.

gamesradar wrote a new post, “Can you just end the series already?” – The internet reacts to The Walking Dead season 8, episode 11, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
This was one of those The Walking Dead season 8 episodes. This week’s episode 11 saw Gabriel battle against blindness, Negan concoct a new plan which sorta contradicts the entire series, and yet more people reacting to Carl’s death. It felt like old-school The Walking Dead in the best possible way. You do you, Walking Dead. Love this show premise and the past stories, just not enjoying the direction it has been going this season.

gamesradar wrote a new post, Why do video games have such a problem representing positive mothers and motherhood?, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
The majority of mother figures in games are distorted, monstrous things, killed off in the first few minutes, only available in letter form, or simply not mentioned. They’re pretty important figures, mothers, so why are they so grossly under-represented in games? Oh, and Mom looks like this:She doesn’t even get a body, despite the fact she’s the ultimate boss in Binding of Isaac. And even when games try to do good mother figures it all tends to go a bit wrong. Technically, she’s mother to Cassie

Days Gone is going, going, gone from PS4’s 2018 lineupOne of the most-anticipated upcoming PS4 games got a bit further away today, as Sony confirmed to USgamer that Days Gone is now set to release in 2019. The open-world action game set in a zombie apocalypse only had the vaguest of 2018 release windows before so it’s not a massive change. Black Panther 2 is definitely happeningMarvel Stud

gamesradar wrote a new post, Cyberpunk is getting its biggest push since the late ‘90s, but why don’t audiences seem to care?, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
Largely missing in action since the late-‘90s, the Cyberpunk genre has been trying really goddamn hard to re-establish itself in the mainstream over the last year or so. Under the weight of flopped movies, aesthetic fatigue, and The Matrix getting way too big and then becoming rubbish, Cyberpunk fell hard and rather fast. And so, in opposition to the hopeful side of desperate, ‘80s social decay Cyberpunk really kicked off. So the other question, then, is why this second wave of Cyberpunk isn’t r

gamesradar wrote a new post, 21 years of the Slayer: How Buffy defined a generation of TV and movies, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
Into every generation a Slayer is born… so said Giles in the very first episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 21 years ago. Without Buffy, we’d have fewer female action heroes, smaller movie universes, and a very different TV horror genre. By traditional TV tropes, Buffy – a pretty blonde high school teenager – shouldn’t have survived the first episode. She’s deliberately the polar opposite of Buffy, but nonetheless occupying the same space on screen.” The popularity of Buffy is what cleared this

gamesradar wrote a new post, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (AKA Negan) says it would be the “thrill of a lifetime” to be Batman – here’s why it could happen, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played Bruce Wayne’s dad, Thomas Wayne, for all of three seconds in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, says he’d be down to play Batman on the big screen. I think it was both he and I’s favorite character and favorite story. “And what I know about the Flashpoint Batman is, you know, for me, I think he is not only the darkest of the Batmen, but the coolest. Note that when Morgan says “favorite character and favorite story,” he’s likely referring to Batman in general, not

gamesradar wrote a new post, We tried a Tomb Raider escape room and I don’t know how Lara handles that life-and-death stress, to be honest, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
So easy, in fact, that when we were offered the chance to do a Tomb Raider Escape Experience, we didn’t think it would be that challenging. Although the room was by no means Houdini-worthy, hearing sound effects that make you (ahem, me) think the entire (fake) room is about to collapse does make it very apparent just how fearless Lara really is. Because when those noises reach her ears, it’s for real. Yet all three settings for the escape room were phenomenally convincing, from the aged gold dra

Could I be a vampire slayer? It’s the sort of question only a show like Buffy could ever inspire us to ask ourselves, and it’s probably on your mind once again now that the much beloved TV series turns 21 this Saturday. While we’ve all thought about joining the Scooby Gang at one point or another, it’s not exactly an open membership affiliation; you need to know your Demons from your Drokkens and much more if you have any hopes of staying alive with a group that constantly finds itself on the wr

gamesradar wrote a new post, The Terror is a chilling fusion between The Thing and Master and Commander, and it’s heading to your TV later this month, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 5 months ago
While there was nowhere to run in Alien, there’s simultaneously everywhere AND nowhere to run in The Terror. The showrunners truly bring the danger of naval exploration to life, and make a real enemy of the ice itself. It’s a neat look at what happens when British imperialism and religious bluster come face-to-face with forces they can’t bully. All this makes it rather unique among modern TV shows, so if you’re looking for something genuinely new to keep you awake at night… well, the clue really
