eurogamer wrote a new post, The joy of Rime and the petrification of indie gaming, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 10 months ago
As the game begins, your character, a mop-headed youth in rags, awakens on a balmy shore studded with enormous marble ruins. Wandering along the beach past milling gulls and fretful crabs, you discover an inlet leading to a wooded dell. Arcane secrets await deeper within the island – puzzles built upon perspective, a gigantic winged predator and a mechanism that, seemingly, allows you to change the time of day. An indie game can be anything, of course, but when we talk about “indie” games today,

Minecraft’s various console versions are getting Glide, a new free mini-game. As with other mini-game additions, Glide itself comes free and in the future will be expanded via both free and paid map packs. Glide centres on the newly-released Elytra item – a set of wings which allow you to glide through the air. In Minecraft’s survival mode, Elytra are rare – so Glide is a good place to try them out. Glide gets added to Minecraft’s various console versions from tomorrow, 28th March.

Junction Point’s episode involved a new tool called the Magnet Gun. Now, images of Junction Point’s cancelled Half-Life 2 episode have emerged, revealing a snow-themed version of the series’ iconic Ravenholm location. Junction Point wasn’t the only developer to work on cancelled Half-Life 2 episodes. So, how do we know these images relate to Junction Point’s cancelled Half-Life 2 episode? Well, as ValveTime points out, some entities in the files use JPS as their prefix in their names, which obvi

eurogamer wrote a new post, Mass Effect Andromeda players want a mute button for its chatty AI, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 10 months ago
Mass Effect has been defined by its storylines charting the conflict between human and AI. But as players push deeper into the game, its talkative AI SAM is becoming fans’ real bugbear. Worse is when you open your mining radar while driving your Nomad vehicle. But there’s no telling him to stop, and sadly (as yet) no mute button. All players can hope for is that SAM calms down after the game’s next big patch.

Chapter 13, Verse 2 sees Gladiolus and Ignis work their way through the chapter, whereas before you had to play it solo. Our very own Aoife has played through Chapter 13, Verse 2 and created a video, below that verifies the exchange:Gladiolus: I thought Aranea said the daemons were afraid of the Crystal. Players have reported there are more Trump nods in Chapter 13, Verse 2. Video games!

eurogamer wrote a new post, Mass Effect Andromeda physical launch sales down on ME3, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 10 months ago
Mass Effect Andromeda sold fewer physical copies than Mass Effect 3 during its first week on sale in the UK. Mass Effect 3 launched on a Friday, back in March 2012. Physical PC copies (the only kind counted by UK numbers company Chart-Track) counted for 10 per cent of Mass Effect 3 launch sales. For Andromeda, physical PC copies counted for just four per cent. Reviews painted a disappointing picture of Andromeda last week, which may well have impacted sales.

This time we’ll be discovering the secrets of the Ringed City, the brutal RPG’s final DLC. Be warned, though – this DLC isn’t for fresh meat. eurogamer wrote a new post, Watch: Thimbleweed Park and the best games for Twin Peaks fans, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 10 months ago
1990s TV drama Twin Peaks left a lasting impression on pop culture, with its iconic setting, idiosyncratic weirdness and pervading air of supernatural menace. It’s been hugely influential not only in film and tv, but in videogames as well. Much like Twin Peaks, upcoming first-person thriller Get Even is difficult to describe. Watch Luke from Outside Xtra and I try to fathom just what on earth is going on in this Get Even gameplay. Finally in this week’s Outside Xbox video sampler, see those very

eurogamer wrote a new post, Watch: Why I love Overwatch’s new hero, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 10 months ago
Orisa, the third hero to be added to Overwatch since launch, is live now. It feels like people have been less interested in the new tank character when compared to the two previous hero launches – Ana and Sombra – but I think there’s a lot to be excited about. Truth be told, I adore Orisa – her blend of abilities appeals directly to my play style and, seemingly unlike a good portion of the internet, I really don’t mind the fact she looks like a character cars would invent in order to scare their

Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds is currently smashing it on Steam. Battlegrounds feels like a nice mixture of both H1Z1 and the Battle Royale Arma 3 mod. In terms of gameplay, Battlegrounds is very similar to H1Z1 but with a bit of that Arma 3 realism in thrown in. With none of the constraints brought on by mod tools or publisher whims, Brendan has been able to create the Battle Royale game he’s always wanted to make, and it shows in the gameplay. On the subject of Battle Royale, did any of you wa

What Remains of Edith Finch, the upcoming title by The Unfinished Swan developer Giant Sparrow, is about a young woman exploring her family abode. Yet What Remains of Edith Finch isn’t a horror story. Each chapter of What Remains of Edith Finch is a standalone story about a deceased member of the Finch clan. Indeed, if Edith Finch is “a game about the unknown”, what’s more unknown than the human psyche? What Remains of Edith Finch promises more of this sort of thing, like a condensed season of T
