eurogamer wrote a new post, Grip, the Rollcage spiritual successor, now has multiplayer, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 9 months ago
A big new update to Grip, the Rollcage spiritual successor, was released this week – and it adds multiplayer. You can now search for available games, although the developer, Caged Element, warned that because the multiplayer component is new, players may struggle to find a game that matches all of their settings. CE suggested enabling searching for all games modes to find the largest number of available games. Grip launched on Steam as an Early Access title back in February 2016 and met with a p

eurogamer wrote a new post, Next big historical Total War game “well underway”, Creative Assembly insists, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 9 months ago
After last week’s Total War: Warhammer 2 announcement, Creative Assembly has moved to reassure concerned fans that its next big historical Total War game is well underway. The Warhammer 2 announcement at EGX Rezzed last week was met with dismay from some fans, who’d instead hoped Creative Assembly would reveal its other core Total War game in the works. Back in November, Creative Assembly confirmed to Eurogamer that the next historical game would feature “an era we haven’t tackled yet”. In fact,

eurogamer wrote a new post, Terraria company ditches spin-off maker after troubled development, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 9 months ago
It looks like the wait for Terraria spin-off Otherworld will go on a lot longer – work has essentially started over after what sounds like a troubled development. Terraria: Otherworld was announced in February 2015 as a spin-off from the hugely popular Terraria series. Terraria owner Re-Logic contracted Dutch developer Engine Software to make Otherworld after its good work porting the original to PS Vita, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. In a post on the Terraria forum, Re-Logic said it had taken Oth

Playtonic and Team17 have announced a patch for cheery Banjo-Kazooie homage Yooka-Laylee. It’s out now on Xbox One, and will launch on PC and PS4 before the game’s 11th April release. When the player respawns, they will be unable to movePerformance improvements to various camera transitions in the introductory cut scenePerformance improvements to Shipwreck Creek and Hivory Towers. “Hiccups of this sort don’t cripple Yooka-Laylee,” I wrote in Eurogamer’s Yooka-Laylee review yesterday. eurogamer wrote a new post, BioWare apologises for Mass Effect: Andromeda’s poor transgender representation, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 9 months ago
In Mass Effect Andromeda’s current form, players encounter a scientific director by the name of Hainly Abrmas. “It feels forced, as if BioWare had to tick off ‘trans character’ on some checklist,” Eurogamer contributor Sam Greer wrote of this awkward interaction. “In Mass Effect: Andromeda, one of our non-player characters, Hainly Abrams, was not included in a caring or thoughtful way. To remedy this, BioWare will alter Abrams’ dialogue in an impending update. “We have had several discussions wi

eurogamer wrote a new post, Zelda player builds flying contraption, glides across entire map, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 9 months ago
A The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild player has figured out a way to glide across the entire land of Hyrule in one amazing descent. Unlike the person who continually shot bomb arrows to propel themselves skyward through the power of explosions, YouTuber mety333 built a flying contraption and ascended high enough that they hit the game’s invisible ceiling. To do this, they placed Link upon a metal box stacked atop a cart, then used the magnises ability to pull the cart upward, raising the bo

eurogamer wrote a new post, Watchdog bans Mobile Strike ad featuring curvy models in bikinis, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 9 months ago
The Advertising Standards Authority has banned an advert for Mobile Strike it deemed objectified women. Mobile Strike is a hugely popular war strategy game that has seen a number of high-profile adverts. The advert in question, however, features three bikini-clad models who play Mobile Strike by a pool. “The intention was to show that the Mobile Strike game could liven up a player’s time spent in everyday, sometimes boring, spaces,” reads the ASA’s note on the ruling. For those reasons, we consi

eurogamer wrote a new post, Yooka-Laylee review, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 9 months ago
Whatever else it is, Yooka-Laylee is one gigantic joke at its own expense. The game’s grand yet dinkily styled, themepark environments teem with retro parodies, all of whom express themselves in authentically inane, pre-CD-ROM gibberish. The aggressively ironic tone also betrays a certain insecurity about whether the type of game Yooka-Laylee aims to be still merits attention, a commitment to making light of the whole enterprise lest it prove surplus to requirements. Laylee will eventually learn

eurogamer wrote a new post, Civilization Revolution gets Xbox One backwards compatibility, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 9 months ago
Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet have been added to the Xbox One’s backwards compatible library. Civilization Revolution launched in 2008, marking the strategy series’ console debut. We rather liked it too, with Eurogamer contributor Alec Meer saying “This slick new Civilization may be more reduction than Revolution, but it’s easily one of the most distinctive games on 360 and PS3” in his Civilization Revolution review. Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet was one

Blizzard has emerged victorious in a long-running lawsuit against Bossland, a German company that creates cheats for online games. As reported by TorrentFreak, the US court ruled that Bossland owed Blizzard $8,563,600 for 42,818 violations. The court ruled that these products infringed upon Blizzard’s product by damaging the player experience for honest, non-cheating folk. “Players of the Blizzard Games lodge complaints against cheating players, which has caused users to grow dissatisfied with t

eurogamer wrote a new post, Nier: Automata sells 1m copies in a month, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 9 months ago
Nier: Automata has breached the one million mark in sales, publisher Square Enix has announced. This combines both physical and digital sales worldwide on PS4 and PC. These figures are almost definitely an improvement over the original Nier, though sales figures for that remain iffy. It reportedly sold about 134k copies in Japan in its first seven months, whereas Nier: Automata managed 198,542 on PS4 alone during its launch week in Japan. I called Nier: Automata “the most captivating game I’ve p

Capcom has published scans of a 20-year-old guide it still uses today when creating Street Fighter characters. At GDC last month, Capcom’s Toshiyuki Kamei delivered a talk on the art direction of Street Fighter 5. As part of it, he discussed Anatomy: A Strange Guide for Artists, a document created 20 years ago around the time Darkstalkers was being made. Kamei revealed an example of how this guide was used in the creation of Street Fighter 5 characters. It’s really cool to see scans of Anatomy:

eurogamer wrote a new post, Mass Effect Andromeda patches to improve lip-syncing, trans character dialogue, on the site GoGame.com 8 years, 9 months ago
Mass Effect Andromeda has received a lot of criticism since its launch last month and BioWare has been listening. BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn noted on the Mass Effect blog that updates over the next two months will improve the lip-syncing, as the game’s facial animations have left something to be desired. Furthermore, BioWare will tweak the dialogue with Hainly Abrams, a trans character with a tone-deaf expository method of introducing themselves. As such, if you wanted that Gamerscore y
