  • Retrotastic tank shooter Battlezone will get a PC beta next week, on Wednesday 19th April. The beta will run for a week but only be accessible to those who sign up over on the Battlezone site. In other Battlezone news, HTC Vive has been added to the list of compatible VR headsets for the game, alongside Oculus Rift.   • A new Nintendo Direct will be broadcast on Wednesday, 12th April at 11pm UK time. Or maybe Nintendo will keep schtum on both until E3. It feels like a while since the last Nintendo Direct. The company kicked off 2017 with its Nintendo Switch reveal presentation, at the ungodly hour of 4am on 12th January. January also included a Fire Emblem-themed Direct, before a Switch indie game showcase in February.

  • Bethesda really wants you to play The Elder Scrolls Online. Not content with paying someone $1m just to try its MMO, Bethesda will next throw open the gates of Tamriel to everyone, regardless of platform, for a full seven days. The free trial begins 3pm UK time tomorrow, 10th April, and lasts until 18th April. All of this comes ahead of The Elder Scrolls Online’s upcoming Morrowind expansion, which launches in June.
